    The wrist gaiter frayed then failed over the 1st season of use. Norrona tried to repair it, but ultimately, they gave me a voucher for the full cost of a replacement on their website. The whole process was quick and easy. A+ on warranty and customer service.

    A great comprehensive review. I've recently come across Artilect formation jacket which seems to be great jacket with a lot of well thought out set of features. Would love to see a comparison between that jacket and this Norrona. Anyway, keep doing great reviews!

      I don't get what has happened to jacket designs and prices lately but it seems like you have to pay $600-$800 to get the features that used to cost maybe $250-$300 ten years ago. I'm shopping to replace a top of the line shell I got from REI in 2011 and the only shells that offer all the goggle pockets, snow skirts and all the bells and whistles are outrageously priced now.

    Hi just found your channel and your content is sick! I love how direct your videos are especially the precious one “sabre vs rush” I watched! Regarding the jacket raising up your body when lifting your arms with the beta, this is because it’s more for hiking. If directly compared with the alpha I don’t think you’d have the same drawback :)

    • @WillFaulkner
      @WillFaulkner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I wondered if that were the case. I assumed arcteryx would use a similar shoulder construction for articulation on most there hard shells. Unfortunately there are no Alpha series jackets available near me right now to try out.

    I have made the switch as well. I live in Boulder, Co where you can walk down one street and try on every major brand in their flagship stores (which I have done) and I keep finding myself back in the Norrona store to make my purchases. I have the pants that matched just this jacket and I believe you can zip out the powder skirt and directly zip into the pants with that same zipper…. Although you should ask a rep on that because I’m not 100%. Super slick design, extremely satisfied with their products.

      That is a benefit of Arc'teryx, one of the few brands easy to sell (similar to Canada Goose). Not sure how well Norrona is on re-sell, probably would see easy in Northern Europe but the brand isn't well known yet in North America.

    That was a very well produced and presented video!
    I was looking at the Alpha/Beta SVs and alternatives and I came across this.
    I have a question: Do the pit zips go down low enough to *comfortably* enable access to the 'hand warmer' pockets of a mid layer e.g. Cerium?

    • @WillFaulkner
      @WillFaulkner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes that is a great point I didn't think about. I was able to access the midyear pockets through the pit zips. Mabye someone with really stiff shoulders couldn't but I think most people could.

    should compare it to the Sabre SV which just made a return as their most durable ski shell this season. its N100D gore tex pro most rugged all around the jacket like the Alpha SV. about 900 dollars, so similar in price to this jacket. I just received it a few days ago and it exceeded my expectations in terms of quality. Does this brand have RECCO per chance? I saw that the newer hard shells from arcteryx have the RECCO radar thing built in to the jacket in case of emergency scenarios which is extremely important when doing any back country skiing.

    • @paultate7037
      @paultate7037 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      RECCO is a bit of a gimmick really. If you're buried in an avalanche then your chances of survival have dropped by 70% after 15 minutes. In that sort of timeframe the only thing that is going to get you out is a transceiver, probe and shovel and your buddy with the same kit. RECCO is really just a reflector to find dead bodies...

I’m between large and X-Large jacket and will likely get the large as the xl sleeves are too long. I run quite hot so I don’t layer heavy.
