Vintage performance from xavi, he is really an example for all midfielders, with his movement and passing

Xavi’s position dropped pretty deep in this game. Anyways, it is always difficult to mark a player like Xavi. But it became nearly impossible when you had Busquets, Iniesta and Messi around him. It is incredible to see the speed and efficiency of how the ball circulated during Pep’s Barca. The tactical value and work rate of Pedro and Villa were also under appreciated.
I wouldn’t say Xavi was the best playmaker I have ever seen but he certainly was one of the best.

I dont think playmaking was really his main job he was more like an orchestrator, dictating the tempo of the game no one does that better than him

MidfielderParadise MatchHighlights I would say no one could replace Xavi in Pep‘s Barcelona but saying he was the best is too strong. There were the likes of Valedrrama, Zidane, Matthaus, Gullit, Redondo, Pirlo, Modric who could absolutely exert similar influence to their team as Xavi did to Barcelona and many of them have been proven in different teams, weaker or stronger.

      Purposefully deep.
He understood that with Man Utd playing 4 man in the midfield and Rooney on Busquets, playing closer to Busquets would free either himself or Busquets up to receive from the defence. Rooney obviously can't take them both and dropping that far away from the midfield would discourage the Man utd midfield from pressing him. If they did decide to, it would only increase the space between that line and the Utd defence line for Messi to play in.

UEFA reported that Xavi completed 124 of 136 passes, which would equate to a 91% success rate, but the BBC reported that Xavi completed as many as 141 of 148 passes, which would equate to a 95% success rate. That is a big difference!

To be honest, Xavi was the main person whom we missed the most.
Messi and rakitic was like similar, i mean, both of them were attacking. We needed someone who could just hold the ball and supply, cover up the space etc. And then, there was alves whose departure wouldn’t matter if the current cb were there back then.

Yeah hes good, but mourinho exposed him, put pressure on him and he folds. Hes able to do all this due to the fact the opponent gave him space to work. He was never this player that scans around and look for passes. No doubt he is good but Pirlo, scholes, zidane, dinho all dared to PING the ball when you least expected. Xavi is good for ball retention, but if u watched football, you know mourinho shut down xavi and iniesta, leaving messi open and thats how real madrid lost the game. Its all messi taking over. There is a video made by someone who compares peak regista/midfield footballers and Pirlo rank first, 2nd closely followed by zidane. Its the impact they had on the game, pirlo has very few lost posessions in every game. Zidane also has lost barely few posessions in every game, but xavi, almost double figures every game. Xavi admitted he learned watching the greats play and if you come here and try to outsmart me, you are a fool, because 2003 to 2009 , xavi never scanned his head, he is a basic player, if he was good, they would mention his greatness as early as 2006 maybe? But no. That era is filled with more greater players, when all the greats retire or declining, xavi peaked and he was playing a position that was not his style but guardiola made him practice tiki taka and ball retention like a regista,
By the way, 2008/09 his first champions league, he was dull the entire tournament. Go watch.
10/11 CL, he gained alot of courage to retain ball like regista, but messi is the team magician.
14/15 MSN didnt need him to function.

You wrote this long paragraph only to say complete bs. Scholes and Pirlo did not have the first touch of the likes of Xavi or Busquets. And Mourinho. The guy got humiliated 5-0 in a Classico. Lost a Classico semi final to Barca in the Ucl. The guy literally got sacked I every team he went to after Real Madrid, lmao. This is exactly how a Mourinho fan would sound, anti football.
