    The gardens look scenic too.

There is a nice patch of lawn, it’s not very big- but a splash of greenery is always nice 🙂

Thank you for the video. I watched The King on Netflix and i needed to see this castle. The rich English history is not only a hallmark to European history but a great one for human history as well.

Thank you. Really glad you enjoyed the film. We too love our history and the amazing buildings and ruins that it has left for us to explore. We are really lucky to live in a place that has so many historic sites. 😀

Henry Vee. That really is cool. Is it because of cromwell that there's little left? No funds for upkeep etc? For once you didn't say whether the locals made off with any crafty stones for their cottage additions.
For the geographically challenged, any chance of a little map of locations of the castles you're taking in? I sort of know where this is, but it's been a while, and I can't pop in and check, wrong continent.

It was damaged in the English Civil war and subsequently slighted. There is a fair amount of it under the streets of Monmouth. It certainly wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of the stones were recycled, it’s highly likely in fact, but there is no immediately obvious evidence of this.
At some point the website will get a map of all the castles, but it’s a fairly big job, so will take a little time.

I think its one of those interesting places that shows you how "civilisation" builds up round a castle.. if it wasn't there, would Monmouth be what it is today? Etc..

I’d have to say I’m pretty sure Monmouth wouldn’t be what it is today had it not been there. It would certainly have far fewer quirks

It's not surprising the English are right there just across the bridge. 😀

Didn't Henry V feel Welsh, or something?
