  • In this video, I use an AKAI MPK MINI to connect it to garageband IOS.
I give a short demonstration of live looping.
TO CONNECT AN AKAI MPK TO GARAGEBAND :
    You need:
    - an iPhone
    - a midi to usb cable
    - an AKAI MPK
    - a USB-C computer charging cable
    - an external battery (powerbank or even a normal charger, plugged into an outlet)
    - un lightning to USB3 adaptator :
    REFERENCE :
    www.apple.com/ch-fr/shop/prod...
    How to proceed :
    1. Connect the adapter to the iPhone
    2. Insert the charging cable with the USB-C end into the slot provided.
    3. Check that the phone indicates that it is in charging mode. (The charger actually powers the AKAI when we plug it in later).
    3. Connect the midi cable to the AKAI and the USB end to the adapter in the input provided.
    4. The iPhone may send a message saying that the AKAI can't be used because it requires too much power. In this case, click on "OK" and see if it works. If some of the AKAI's buttons turn green or red, it's connected and working.
If it doesn't work, try again a few times and make sure you have at least sixty percent battery power before using it. It all depends on the power of the phone itself.
IF IT STILL DOESN'T WORK OR IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION: write a comment, I'll reply quickly and help you with pleasure!
Thanks for watching my video. Don't hesitate to share, like, comment... it helps a lot!

Could you make a video showing how you choose the different synth sounds that you commonly use? I am running an identical setup so this was perfect timing but I am getting lost in the number of instrument options. Thank you!

      thanks for your comment!
It's true that it's easy to get lost... My method is to aim for a basic structure that's almost always the same. That is to say: a kick, a snare, an open Hat, shakers, then a bass, a pad, maybe BELLS or a synth for a melody. For me, that's what you have to find first. With this structure, you can go through different progressive stages, and I think that helps a lot! Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any more technical questions, and good luck with your setup :)

It's mine. I "composed" it for the video ! But the chords are very basic, it's sure that they have been used in a lot of songs before :)
