    As an adult with ADHD, I appreciate these tips and often find myself having to pre plan before I go near my bead closet to avoid being overwhelmed. I start by finding a color that im already interested in and then I tried your tips! Thanks for sharing :)

    Even though I'm a Graphic Designer and fine artist, I have always had a hard time choosing color ways. You are spot on! It's like decorating a room. Start with a rug that has many colors or something that's your favorite piece and pull in colors from them. Great video!!!

    Thank you Leah! Finally, someone who could explain this color choosing stuff without pulling out color wheels. I still don't really understand how to use those things. Thanks again!😸🙃😁

      Glad you enjoyed the video!!! If you're still curious about using color, check out a blog I did on color theory (and, yes, the color wheel LOL!) and perhaps the way I've laid it out may help you understand it? :-)

    Thank you for your guidance, but could you show a project with your selections when you work these combos… it will really bring it all together for me at least.

    Thanks!! Extremely informative! I tend to throw too many different color beads together and of course, the colors get lost and end up looking muddy...sticking with just 3 colors really helps!

      Glad you liked the video, Kymberly! I agree, too many colors = muddy, for sure. Sometimes less is more. :-)

    This is so helpful. Thank you, Leah. My bead supply is getting more varied and I’m finding lots of colors that I never would’ve thought would go well together. For example nutmeg with a mauve with a dark purple. Sometimes I forget about really going bright with accents with some of the AB, iris, or other metallic finishes. So fun!

    Wonderful tip... I usually pick my colors by my surroundings... From the beach I'll choose the sand, water and sky... Depending on the horizon color... As well as if I'm at the park, the color of the trees, bark and sky... This tip actually helps me even more... Thank you...

    I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who has problems choosing colors. Whew! Generally speaking, it's hard to choose the right beads when shopping. I usually start with my focal bead(s) then try to work others in. I'm going to try reversing that. Thanks for the tip.

    This is really helpful and I love those combinations. Do you have any colour tips for someone who is wanting to start making little things with brick stitch or peyote stitch? I’ve been playing around with cheap craft-shop seed beads (which aren’t uniform size so look a bit messy), but I got vouchers for my birthday so I can order some Miyuki Delicas.
    Apart from gold, silver and an off-white colour, I have no idea what other colours to start with. There’s just so much choice and there are no decent bead shops near me to get ideas. Any advice would be wonderful.

    • @leahwyckoff4791
      @leahwyckoff4791 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest piece of advice is - don't over think it. :-) You say you have no idea what colors to start with...What do you like? Perhaps consider taking a gold / silver / off-white (NEUTRAL) type palette and adding one new colors to start... If you're starting with a neutral, pretty much anything goes! Gold / Silver / off-white and..... BLUE? Or GREEN? Anything! :-) Another approach is to look at a piece of clothing you have that you like and pull out some of the colors from it - that's a guaranteed winner. Good luck!

    Actually this doesn't help at all. You've already selected the colours and showing it to us. Try showing a bead shop with a hundred colours and then picking up things

    • @leahwyckoff4791
      @leahwyckoff4791 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lady Ashk, I'm sorry you didn't find this video helpful. Yes, I did show colors that I had already selected, but I explained the TECHNIQUE for HOW I chose them - the point of this video was to be a quick tip on how that was done and how it can be repeated in theory. That same technique that I explained can be applied to YOUR next trip to the bead shop or your next time browsing colors online. :-) Good luck!
