History of the Assassination of Thomas Sankara (Military Head of State of Burkina Faso)

Captain Thomas Sankara became the Military Head of his country at a very young age. Few years into his administration, he became well known and highly appreciated at home and abroad owing his progressive leadership style.
Sadly, he was assassinated in his office by a group of soldiers while having a meeting with key officials of his administration. Thomas was killed on the spot. The assassins also killed 12 of the officials who were at the meeting with the President. It was indeed a dark day in the history of Africa and the world. He was succeeded by his bosom friend - Captain Blaise Compaore who accused of masterminding the assassination of Thomas and his minsters.
Thomas Sankara remains a hero in his native country of Burkina Faso till date. The name also resonates across the whole of Africa and other parts of the world.
