    About 10 years ago I was having a yard sale with a Black female friend of mine and a "sister" showed up and visited and bought and then invited both of us to her "Black Barbecue" (as you called it in the video) that night. I must say that, even though I was a stranger and the only White person there, EVERYONE treated me like valued family and it remains one of the most touching and cherished nights of my life.

    Bowie was a major innovator of all those styles from the 1980s and 1990s. He was one of the first men in Rock music to cross dress, leading to the creation of Glam Rock, together with Marc Bolan of T. Rex. Bowie had the MC Hammer pants before him and was the first major star to rock the Mullet as early as 1972. He sparked the retro 1950s look that repopularised into the 1980s. He did so much and never slowed down until his health started to catch up on him into the 21st century, and yet he still cranked hit albums up until his death in 2016!

    Bowie is a legend. Let's dance is another great tune. Produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic. Rebel Rebel is another favourite of mine, slightly different genre though.

    The Brits in the 60s had to come across the ocean to tell White America to start listening to and respecting the damn Black artists in their midst! 👍👍

    You have to listen to the full album "Young Americans". Amazing soul album. Bowie put a teenage Luther Vandross on backing vocals after he heard him singing along in the studio. He was only there as a friend of Carlos Alomar (Bowie's guitarist) and Bowie loved his voice. Even co-wrote a song with him (Fascination) . It's an alum full of great songs with a Philly/soul sound from 1975.

    You've gotta check out Teenage Wildlife by David Bowie. It's freakin' incredible.
    By the way, John Lennon did backing vocals on the studio version of Fame.

    React to David Bowie confronting MTV about their lack of diversity on their music channel. He owned that interview. Plus do "Lucy Can't Dance" or "Heroes," two very different but awesome songs.

    Hi Devon ! Nice review. Bowie's influences are so diverse that it never ceases to amaze me how he managed to mix them all into one coherent style : his own ! By the way: "Fame" was co-written with John Lennon (you can hear him in the backing vocals of the studio version) and an important Soul musician was working with Bowie on the album this song comes from ("Young Americans" : give it a try, some day) : Luther Vandross. If you enjoyed "Fame", please try "Stay", from his 1976 album "Station to station" or "Black Tie White Noise" from the same titled album of 1993.

    • @DevonDaVinci
      @DevonDaVinci  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DevonDaVinci Bowie Fans around the world will thank you for that :) : I've seen reactions to 2 songs from the album (Fame and Young Americans), but never to the whole album. And for what i know, Vandross co-wrote at least one song on the album ("Fascination") and is doing the backing vocals on almost every other songs. Enjoy (and greetings from France :D ) !

    Happy New Year!! Great reaction!! During these awful times I often find myself needing to listen to something soothing or happy to help me through the day. I have a clip on my "easy listening" playlist I think you would enjoy. It's a "NICOTINE" cover by ZeePruk and it's all about being there for someone whether they know it or not. Zee Pruk Panich is a well known Thai actor (co-winner of Best Shipper and Most Perfect Body at the Thailand 2020 ZOOM DARA Awards recently and main male lead in "Why RU, The Series"), model, singer, and TV host (Domundi TV) with a sizable fan base in Asia and a large following on Instagram and Twitter. His voice is like velvet as is his sweet disposition. (Having a killer smile doesn't hurt either, LOL.) The lyrics, translated by one of his fans, are in the "Comments" section of the clip. I would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to review and enjoy this really simply performed sweet song. Thank you for letting me post this request. th-cam.com/video/nXIDuBGVUVc/w-d-xo.html
