I am with you when you acknowledged Jisoo's improvement. Even Jisoo herself is not claiming to be the best, she is humble and we all saw how she worked to be where she is now. I see a lot of divided reaction towards Flower and that is totally okay but hats off to Jisoo. I cannot imagine anyone interpreting this song better than her.
One of the first things I noticed, is that this video and song are retro. The buildings are older, the car is old, the fashion and choreo have a retro feel, and the song has a jazzy 1950'-60's feel to it. That's why it struck me when you mentioned The Great Gatsby. The overarching theme may have been retro.
Yes it was retro Korean. Bbong jjak...they call it trot I think. Jisoos great grandmother would be so proud.

The beat and vibe of this song is just catchy and so niceee!! Different with typical blackpink song.

You are really focus on the MV concepts on the Music, Lyrics, Jisoo performance & vocals + the story behind about the Theme ~ Flower..Bravo👏🏻. The review/reaction make us really understand & appreciate the MV even more. The Music, the movement and lyrics really click..all in one. I think that’s the main reason why Jisoo chose this song as the Title Track. Nah, I don't think you were reaching at all. This song and MV especially I feel is simple and yet so eloquent. There's just a lot of symbolism in it if you do pay attention, which is fitting considering the song is called "Flower". Very poetic overall and it did a fantastic job highlighting Jisoo's charm imo.

0:58 I can understand your thinking. I feel that doing solo projects gives a fresh take on BLACKPINK as a whole. Being in the US we don't get to see the unity in a group it's all about divide a conquer. Doing a solo project here means you no longer want to be with the group. A Great example of this is DESTINY'S CHILD.
Even in Lalisas project she states taking the crown and says WE then the adlib in the background says(BLACKPINK). That is fire. To make sure you understand that even in solo projects your team comes first and that doesn't change. Mad RESPECT for showing class and dignity.❤

I really appreciated your comments about improvement. I was impressed by the improvement of all of the members in the last album. They were great before and the work they put in to even improve their skills from that base was striking. In Jisoo's case, what I saw in Born Pink removed some doubts I had about what her solo would be like. And in fact Flower is just spectacular, mesmerizing on every level.
Of course haters will find any reason to disrespect.
Thank you for letting me see other details I missed and some explanation about the concept/story. I enjoyed rewatching it coz of your pov. Jisoo is one artist that will make you think, so don't worry if you feel you overanalyzed. I feel she intended it. 😅😉

And going into the the dance break that... almost whiney(not the wright word) sound is actually her voice being distorted to sound like music.
The Black Choker at the end is a Flower.
Flowers are used for every mood/feeling the colors and even her clothing.
I value TH-camrs and the job that you have. We as receivers of content need to respect their honest opinions of the reactors. What would be the point of them giving a review if we stifle their voice.
That being said I received hate from my friends just because I don't like the songs Lisa put out but it just isn't my style of music. However that's another thing. I love Blackpink and they are all my Otp4. I have love for all of them.
I do love this song though. The video just elevates it for me. I love her acting, her symbolism, her vocals, the visuals. How she even incorporated every blackpink members Solo album into this video! It was genius. The clothes not just for fashion but representing each flower and different stages of life. This was incredible!

My interpretation of the M/V (just my thoughts) there are 3 Jisoos: Bedroom Jisoo, Hallway Jisoo, and Street Jisoo
Bedroom Jisoo is locked and confined, she isn't dancing and she has an unkempt appearance. She doesnt care anymore and she has lost hope and inspiration. She is very brooding and probably suffers from depression. She keeps staring out the window and trying to find purpose.
Hallway Jisoo, is dancing by herself. She is moving around but she is lonely. She is adorned with expensive clothing and jewelry but they are all just ornamental. She wanders the hall aimlessly, sort of like she is searching for her soul and uniqueness. The hotel lobby is empty and that could represent her inner soul- she is empty like the lobby.
Street Jisoo has total freedom. She can do anything, wander the streets and dance with fellow dancers. She isn't alone anymore, she is expressing herself without restraint. She approaches a car, and she finds her means of escape, to travel where ever she wants to, moving on to a new chapter.
In the end all 3 Jisoo's realize the same thing, they remove their restraints like the pearl necklace or the choker around her neck.
for me i guess the main character (Jisoo) have been in a kind of breakup.. and everything was just what she thinks inside her head during the break up..

I honestly really like the song, my only criticism I've had with Flower is just... it feels like the choreo shots were lazily filmed and it makes it look cheap when she looks amazing and is on location at amazing places and it should've been shot more interesting, it left a lot to be desired on the choreo parts :x

At the start the dancers had blindfolds on to symbolize that she was blindly in love, then at the end she bloomed, hinting she cutoff whoever she was involved with during the bridge.
