Thank you! Unexpectantly I'm hearing this quite often about the bass. I didn't touch the bass in my remix but I did increase the volume of the kick drum which in my opinion enhances the bass by giving it more energy and punch. This in conjunction with Giles' modifications probably improved the bass over earlier mixes. Thanks for listening!

As far as this one goes, I love that George's vocals are finally brought up front. They sound great! One question though: why did you choose to minimize the piano so much? I love that you can hear the organ and even the yells going into the solo, but the piano is such a fun part and brings so much energy to this track! I definitely do miss it.

Thank you for acknowledging my effort and I do spend a lot of time on them but it's extremely fun. I'm glad you liked the upfront George vocals on the mix but I didn't do any modification with the piano. Thank you for the suggestion. I've always been curious about this but I knew the impurities of the original vocal recording would be raised also. After many listens during the remixing, my ears seemed to adapt to the distortion and it appeared to turn out better than expected. The real test will be to not listen to the new remix for several days then go back to it. I'm sure the harshness will make its' presence again in a magnified form. Thanks again!

    [Verse 1]
    I want a love that's right
But right is only half of what's wrong
I want a short haired girl
Who sometimes wears it twice as long
    [Chorus 1]
Now I'm stepping out this old brown shoe
Baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here
It won't be the same now, I'm telling you
    [Verse 2]
You know you pick me up
From where some try to drag me down
And when I see your smile
    Replacing every thoughtless frown
    [Chorus 2]
Got me escaping from this zoo
Baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here
It won't be the same now when I'm with you
    [Bridge]
If I grow up I'll be a singer
    Wearing rings on every finger
Not worrying what they or you say
I'll live and love and maybe someday
Who knows, baby, you may comfort me, hey
    [Instrumental Verse]
    [Bridge]
I may appear to be imperfect
My love is something you can't reject
    Changing faster than the weather
If you and me should get together
Who knows, baby, you may comfort me
    [Verse 3]
I want that love of yours
To miss that love is something I'd hate
    I'll make an early start
I'm making sure that I'm not late, hey
    [Chorus 3]
For your sweet top lip, I'm in the queue
Baby, I'm in love with you
I'm so glad you came here
It won't be the same now when I'm with you

I know you loath suggestions because of the limitations. However I have always longed for a remix of Don't Let Me Down that includes the 3 part harmony, that they decided to leave off. The harmonies were really done in classic Beatles style. And the Martin produced basic track is really one of their best later recordings. I made an attempt to put the single version and Anthology 3 version together in a DAW to get a nice vocal and piano mix and include the excellent guitar solo on the Anthology version. But it was a fiddly affair. It was only 2 tracks of course, being the whole two songs. They ran at slightly different speeds, so there were a lot of chopping and stretching of clips to make the beats match.
Nice job on this one, but some of the guitar is a bit lost in-between his lyrics.

Thank you! You're most certainly welcome! I've looked at a few of your suggestions already and have worked on one but was not happy with the result. I wouldn't know what to do with 'Yesterday'. It's such a perfect recording especially with the strings separated now. Thanks again for listening!

Another fantastic remix of one of George's under rated songs. This was the "B" side to The Ballad Of John and Yoko if memory serves.... Wow, you can actually hear the vocals so clearly!!! The original was over saturated with "muddy" bass. The only problem I have with your remixes is that it's harder to listen to the original..or other remix...

Good to have the voice boosted. Pity it was recorded with such a 'boxy' sound. Was that a conscious choice at the time?

some of the best leads in the Beatles were played by Paul, and this shows that some of the best bass lines were played by George.

Hi. I have certainly enjoyed many of your other mixes, but with respect I think you missed it this time. This offering sounds more like a demo. Occasionally pop songs are improved by offering a bit of mystery in the vocal presentation. I think this is what George was going for in the original mix. I tend to agree that up front Beatle vocals are often what give them true
personality, but on occasion, the recording method (as you mentioned) does not suit that approach. As always, your video offering is top notch.

Please help me understand. I realize that the Beatles were always trying for new sounds and didn't want to repeat themselves. But was the concept here that George would sound like his voice was being recorded in a broom closet, or perhaps inside an actual old brown shoe? It sounds like a first-time podcaster who doesn't know how to place a mic or treat a room. Was it just intentionally awful for effect?

I've referenced the Mark Lewisohn book 'The Official Abbey Road Studio Session Notes' within it he states "On Wednesday 16 April George Harrison huddled into a small corner of Studio 3 to record his lead vocal trying to achieve a tight but natural echo." He also states that the recording was mixed the same day so possibly this could have been a rush job. This most certainly could have been fixed by a second vocal take in a more conventional manner so maybe this 'shoebox' sound was intentional. The only remedy that I'm aware of with today's technology would be an A.I. program that could mimic Harrison's voice. I wouldn't be an advocate of this because it's really not a fix, just reasonable facsimile of the original.

Vocal still sounds weak and detached. Sounds like a scratch vocal, to be re-done later. George was a fine singer, but it took real producers like George Martin, Phil Spector or Jeff Lynne to make him sound right in the mix.
