John & Olivia (RIP) were best friends. The friendly kiss just added to the emotion of the song. John has been happily married to his wife Jill for 50 years. John was devastated when Olivia passed away (only 3 weeks before John's cancer surgery. 2 of our Aussie legends right here, giving a beautiful performance.

They were very good friends. Olivia said that the one person she always wanted to sing with was John Farnham. Both were both happily married then. John is married to Jill, I think they’ve just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. This is the most beautiful duet I think I’ve ever seen. Perfect.😊

Life long freinds that have both been in the industry since they were teenagers and young adults. Many australian singers off that time all knew each other very well and regularly helped each other when they could. There wasnt much thought of being competetive, they just helped each other out as they struggled to make music and make ends meet.
These two are master singers and know exactly how to sing to the crowd and make them feel what they want them to.
During this time, Newton-John and Warlow were both fresh into remission from Cancer. John laughingly dragged them straight into a concert to prove to them that they were fully capable of singing again and to get them both back out there on stage.
This concert called The Main Event was three very good freinds getting out to sing and have fun.
And as I said before, their generation actively helped each other when they could and still do to this day in Semi retirement years.

This performance was from The Main Event concert with John , Olivia and Anthony Warlow. Olivia does sing Hopelessly Devoted To You , and does a duet with John, You’re The One That I Want from Grease. Great stuff.

They started out together as teens and were lifelong friends only. John was the last phone call Livvie took before she passed with her family. Then his wife had to keep him together. Jill was also her friend. This was the Main Event Concert that toured Australia for 3 months with Anthony Warlow after Anthony finished some tough cancer treatment. The whole concert is on TH-cam.
They are three very special people, good people and I refuse to say were. This concert was so good that people I know after seeing it bought up to three more shows to see it over and over.
John once said he had Jilly’s permission to kiss Livvie once a day for 3 months and he did. You have to know how great Jill is too. This song was one of John’s solo songs but we would probably all just want to hear this version now. Thank you.

I think when a duet is sung with such harmony and passion between 2 people, it brings both singers to a higher level of vibration and closeness. The affection is not surprising to me.

I think this one was at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, but it was a national tour called The Main Event, along with opera singer Anthony Warlow. And it was just a friendly kiss. They were friends for 50 years. Toured together and recorded together.

    The most beautiful duet ever.
John and Olivia had a beautiful best friend love for each other more like brother and sister which has lasted since they first met in the 60's. John joked often that his wife Jill gave him permission to kiss Olivia once a night for 3 months, the duration of the concert. John and his wife Jill have the most enduring and love filled, respectful marriage that has lasted over 50 years.❤
Olivia's death hit John and his whole family very hard. John broke down and was diagnosed with cancer very soon after.

Olivia is amazing and her catalogue of music is huge and definitely deserves a deep dive. She sold over 100 million albums and is considered one of the biggest selling artists of all time. She was the biggest female pop star for many of my generation and was already hugely popular before she starred in “Grease” in 1978. Before “Grease”, she already had 3 Grammy Awards, numerous Country Music and American Music Awards, several top 10 hits, two #1 hits and two #1 albums. She actually released her first greatest hits album in late 1977. She was also the first female recording artist to re-invent herself. “Grease” gave her the opportunity to expand her music into a more soft rock / rock / pop sound. And with her vocal ability, she could sing in any genre. She is a true ICON! Many of my generation adore her. She battled breast cancer for 30 years and spent those years raising awareness and raising funds to fight and research cancer. She helped build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Center (in conjunction with the Austin Hospital) in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. And tirelessly devoted herself to raising funds to support this endeavor. She was truly an amazing human being and no one ever had a bad thing to say about her. Below are a list of her hit songs outside of “Grease”. Plus there are many more absolutely fabulous songs not on this list which charted on country and/or adult contemporary charts.
    If Not For You
    Let Me Be There
If You Love Me (Let Me Know)
    I Honestly Love you
    Have You Never Been Mellow
    Please Mr. Please
    Sam
    A Little More Love
    Deeper Than the Night
I Can’t Help It (with Andy Gibb)
    Magic
    Xanadu
    Suddenly (with Cliff Richard)
    Physical
    Make a Move On Me
    Landslide
    Heart Attack
    Tied Up
    Twist of Fate
    Soul Kiss

John even sounds amazing singing opera; he can sing anything and make it sound great! From this concert; Anthony Warlow (Aussie Opera singer who performed as The Phantom, in Phantom of the Opera) & John singing GRANADA, they have a lot of fun with it. As well as; Grease with ONJ... Sooo many more songs by our John; a true gentleman & entertainer who loves his band, backup singers and audience. Try ANGELS with Lisa Edwards, one of his long-time back up singers; he jokes around at the start to calm Lisa's nerves; great friends!

The day she passed was the day John received his own bad news regarding his cancer diagnosis.John Farnham is cancer-free and feeling like “the luckiest man alive.” The legendary Australian singer shared the good news to mark the anniversary of a marathon operation to remove a cancerous growth from his mouth. This part of the tv show The Main Event, starring John, Olivia, and Anthony Warlow. It shows John's comedic side.

As the old song says "a kiss is just a kiss". Everyone hugs these days and that is more uncomfortable to me.
If you want to get past Grease, try Sordid Lives in which ONJ played a Texas bar singer BitsyMae. It has some excellent songs.

I believe they attended the same high school but at that stage weren’t friends. But Australia is small and there’s probably only 4 or 5 genre streams and plenty of artists cross over those, but these two shared an audience anyway. But the lady had the luck.

I really enjoy watching people enjoy music - full stop - but it gets a bit sad when you realise that the people that can afford to pay someone else to hear something new are probably recording companies, then that is upsetting because then we are all being manipulated to their ends. For good reason, a lot of reactions are about youngsters learning about the classics, the greats, pointing them in whichever direction, but it is clearly obvious as an Australian that lots of great music is bypassed cos their record producers aren’t buying.
