- In This video I make a simple Porch / Awning for a Workshop / Shed / Man-cave out of recycled materials. I use Pallet wood for the frame and a piece of scrap material for the roof. A great solution to stop rain getting into the building if you have the door open on a hot day. Looks nice too!

Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - *WoodBlueprints. Com* It is a great one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin finally got astronomical success with it.?
Nice and simple build. I like that you’re using what’s available and saving money that way. I’m building a canopy over my back door and will likely use your bracket idea. Cheers
@@hughforster your welcome cheers 👍🏻
showing how you built those brackets has helped me immensely!! thank you 😊
No problem 👍
Good job friend
Cheers John!
I like that a lot.
Thanks 👍🏻
It's been 3 years since the video was posted. Can you show the current condition of canapy. Please, TY
Hi, yea I plan on doing a workshop tour soon. It's still in good order although I changed the top roof for a larger one. The framework is the same.
Thanks. Great vid
Your welcome 👍🏻
Brilliant I need one for my Railway shed ,thanks for this 😎👌
No problem 👍
Great idea looking to do same thing
Go for it! Thanks!
nice video thx for sharing.
Thanks your welcome
Nice job..🏆🏆
Thanks 👍🏻
Good build mate. The caps will be fine i use them to fix corrugated plastic and never leaks
Thanks mate👍 yea I agree I think they will be fine so I think I will leave the screws and caps in. Thanks for the reasurance.
Also Phil I suspect that timber is pine, sometimes you get some decent slow grown pine with a tighter grain.
Thanks yea could well be it was denser and heavier than the typical pine I usually find on pallets so as you say maybe a better grade
@@PhillWyattProjects ye same here I find it on shipping sleds. 😏
Nice project. For the back you could try drilling from below
Thanks👍
Cracking build mate, gives that bit more protection to the shed door. 👍
Cheers mate👍 yea always better to keep a door dry if possible I say
Good job
Cheers mate 👍👍👍
I need to make something like this but the over hang on the shed is low and the shed door opens outwards.
Any suggestions please
You could still make a porch to span the width of the doors. Make the angle of the pitch shallow so that the doors still have clearance. To make up for a shallow drop in the porch roof you could make the porch roof deeper.
love that tool you use for dismantling the pallets, did you make it or adapt something else? thanks for the like but a bit of research and i have found it, collecting tomorrow from Wickes
I bought it. It's called a Pallet Breaker. Google it and you can find a few places selling them online.
And does that 15 degree angle covering a part of the door height? or the door height is coming through?
It's not covering the door height.
But doesn't your door hit the roof brace when opening?
No because the door opens inwards
Can you please tell the dimensions is it 4*4cm? or 3*4cm?
4x4 because they are square.
Where can I buy a small table saw like that?
Hi, you can find many cheap table saws if you search on google. Mine is an entry level saw. You can get them for around £100. All the entry level saws tend to be small like this one. Some come with a little table also.
Usually oak, sometimes pine.
I've had all sorts of wood from pallets it's great 😃 Free goods!
Do you have working plans?
No, I just made it as I went. I never made a plan. Sorry about that.👍
Are you like 12 years old, that you need a plan for this?
@@hmax1591 You entitled to your comments. What wrong with being 12, but no I'm not. It doesn't hurt to ask. He could have had improvement made. I guess you don't believe in that old saying "measure twice cut once", a professional came up with. I did get a professional response from him which I inturn appreciated.
What are the lengths? Ratio to the doors?
Did the door open?
Of course
Is a good project, but that "awning" seems just too small.
I didn't have a bigger sheet at the time so I used what I had
@@PhillWyattProjects ok. But since you had the pallet wood, i thought the design was going to be horizontal wood slats in a louvered look...e.g. over lapping.
poplar wood but not sure about it .
Yes I agree I recently found out that it's poplar as I used some more recently it's quite good wood.
Poplar? Where are those pallets made? Here in the U.S. that would be very expensive wood for a pallet.
