Thank u sooooooooooo much. I had no idea about the dumb gold screws that came with it. I had the longer screws but went and got washers and got them both up myself today. Thank u for taking time to make this video and post it. All us single women out here are eternally greatful!
Your video was so great and easy to follow the instructions. I am a 77 year old woman from Texas and was able to install my 40X80 door awning all by myself, took me a little longer than it did you. I did a good job follow8ng your instructions. Thank you so much
Just had the exact same awning delivered from Amazon. I'm so glad I found this video. Very helpful! I'm going to pick up some 3 1/2 inch screws & washers before I attempt this. Thank you !!!
Hey man, that was an excellent video to watch and even understand I appreciate it. I just bought the same product and going to install them this weekend.
Glad someone is having luck with them. I bought a few of these style awnings off eBay, I found them an absolute nightmare to work with. The panels kept slipping out of the joiner, I was going to glue them in but I literally just decided to chuck it in the recycling.
Also easier if you lay it on it's side so you can push down when assembling. Just a thought. Also, the first anchors you were showing and saying they are a mess to use and makes big holes in the house............well, that is because they are made for masonry walls. Not wood
Great video! Question: Did you have to use caulk on the edge that is against the siding to insure no leakage? Or is there rubber seal stripping attached to the outside bracket? Thank you sir!
I have to install on side door with bricks N protection from snow so do u think regular screws wd do or the one that came with? Also never used those screws come in a package so wanted to know how to do thay
Yeah you need screws for cement/ brick etc. or the ones that come with it. But then you’re drilling big holes for them. So need specialty bit for that.
Buy better quality concrete sleeve anchors to attach to brick use a 3/8 drill bit. Apply clear caulk also around the edge of the awning to prevent water falling inside the awning. Please vacuum out the drill holes after drilling or the anchors will not sit flush.
Thank you for the tip on getting better screws to attached it too dose it matter if the sides are differ after you have peel off i like the way you have solar lights on there too God bless!!!
i was thinkng of getting that same one. reassuring to know its simple to instal. im worried if it stops water from coming down my wall/door. i have uneacen stucko. how has it worked for you in that way?
Mine came without instructions and I pulled the plastic off now I don't know which side is the UV side. Can you tell which side is the UV side? Mine was a bitch to assemble the two plastic sheets together, the slots in the center section were narrow and I had to use a butter knife to feed them into the slots. Maybe because it's cool in here? Again: how can you tell the UV side when the plastic has been pealed off?
Seems simple but I'm a bit worried about possibly hitting something with the long screws or the mounting screws it came with. How could someone ensure the area behind doesn't have anything? Guess?
@@HowToWithLech I totally understand. I'd imagine with some clear caulk. I was just curious because I know there's a gap due to no flashing and was sure how bad if any would come in. Thank you very much for answering 😉💪🏻!!
You can use a stud finder. But there is plywood back there which should be enough, as they are lightweight. Plus you need it over the door , so not much choice where it will screw in. It’s all sold still.

Love the install and your video, clear and straight to the point. Keep it up!
Appreciate it 👊
Thank you so much for taking the time out to do this video! It really helps! Especially the little details you can enumerated! 👍🏽👍🏽
Glad to be of help
You can use silicon to seal of the gap between the awning and door to prevent water leakage.
Yeah 👍
@@HowToWithLech won't silicone dissolve after a while? you'd have to be on top of it every year or so.
@@lazyhomeowner No, it'll last 10-20 years in Fl.

Nice. Enjoy
The included bolts look like masonary anchors, for brick buildings. Good call on swapping them out for your timber home.
👍👍
Yes but I got some better ones from Lowe's

Yeah. It’s not the best design but doable.
Thanks for the advice about the screws...makes it much easier to mount
Glad to help
I just bought one, thanks for the tips!
👍
How did it hold up during the snow season? I would really appreciate any updates about how durable it proved?
It’s still solid. I need to do a follow up video on it.
Also easier if you lay it on it's side so you can push down when assembling. Just a thought.
Also, the first anchors you were showing and saying they are a mess to use and makes big holes in the house............well, that is because they are made for masonry walls. Not wood
👍. Thanks for feedback
Does it keep the sun out? Looking to install on sunniest side of the house to keep the sun out during the summer to keep the room cool.
Somewhat yeah. But not fully. Does help my deck door keep some out.
This is exactly what I'm looking for ...Thanks!!
👍👊
What is your wall siding material?
Thanks for sharing the steps.
👍👊
Needed the next width up ;)
Can I do this alone if I’m very tiny??
He’s showing you how NOT to drill a screw. For those who ask.
Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial:)
Your video very helpfully, Thanks
Thanks 👊

I didn’t use anything. And really nonissue .But you can. Or can add on later on if needed
Okay thanks for clarifying!@@HowToWithLech

Thanks for the demo. I bought one to protect my back door and to allow us to be able to open up the door when it rains. How is your holding up?
Still solid which I’m surprised about. Have to do a follow up
Does yours come out 40" or 30" from the wall? Also has it held up in windy storms?
About 34” from wall. So far still no issues during some heavier winds and snow. Very happy
How about the winds plz?
Hello sir do you think those 3 1/2 inch screws will hold up in stucco?
Awesome demonstration thanks
Thanks.
Thanks great advice about the screws instead

Supposedly it matter for us protection but I doubt it makes much difference. So don’t stress about that.
Exactly my doubt too
This may sound stupid. But I’m gonna ask anyway, is that vinyl siding on your home? I wanna put some up on my mobile home
It’s old. It’s aluminum/ or some kind of metal
So it doesn’t have to be completely flushed. I have the same one. I’m gonna do it too,
It’s not. And had nonissue with that
@@HowToWithLech I like it. Good 👍 job
Mine doest sit flush against my siding. Any idea what i can fill in the gap with its a bit big for caulking.? Thanks for anyhelp
Yeah. Caulking , silicone. Or even some insulation foam.
Gosh Ty so much I had my bars backwards you've saved me a silly time consuming mistake
Aloha nui low mi amigo!
👍
how do you prevent rainwater from seeping in between the wall, where the awning is installed, and the awning?
can use a foam strip. or some sealant. I left it alone. haven't really had issues with that.
Do water get between the wall and the awning, or do you caulk it?
I have a small crack. But no not really.
They look very nice. How well do they hold up in high winds?
Holding up fine here. Not sure about constant high winds. But occasional ones I had in my area it was fine.
@@HowToWithLech I have a new single wide and want to put awnings over the windows to help keep rain off and provide more shade.
@@mitchellmontesano8769 give it a try. i think it will work great
They hold up very good in high wind, but added some WD 40 on the plastic in the winter so snow will not stick. Make sure to use clear outdoor caulk.
@@michaeljoiner4305good tip thanks I just got mine today
should I connect 2, 40" sections together, then attach to wall OR do each one separately?
Separately will be easier if doing it alone
i was thinkng of getting that same one. reassuring to know its simple to instal. im worried if it stops water from coming down my wall/door. i have uneacen stucko. how has it worked for you in that way?
It’s been working out great. And held up fine with snow and ice
Make sure to use clear caulk around the sides and top and bottom brackets.
Very well explained!!

Uv side might be a bit shinier. But yeah hard to tell.
Seems simple but I'm a bit worried about possibly hitting something with the long screws or the mounting screws it came with. How could someone ensure the area behind doesn't have anything? Guess?
Try using a stud finder. To find solid beams behind. Should be all plywood at least. So don’t use too long of screws
How does it hold up with the weight on snow on it?
Had few inches of snow there a couple times and still holding up great
Have you had any issues with snow and/or ice ??
So far no. Still solid.
Thanks for the info.👍
How does it hold up to snow?
Still no issue. Even with pretty heavy snow couple times. Was surprised to be honest
I wonder how this awning will hold up against snow.
One winter down for me and ok so far. Don’t know about places with severe blizzards though.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful
👊👍
Thanks for that, great vid.
👍👊
Doesn't it leak water between the siding and the awning?
You can seal that part . Really haven’t had issue with that. Unless some crazy rains

My plastic coverings are falling apart to old can I just buy the plastic panels?
Haven’t seen them. Ask some sellers Maybe. Might be cheaper to get new kit probably lol.
Can this canopy withstand typhoon?
Nahh 😂. Doubt it
@@HowToWithLech thanks mate 😁

No need silicone on the top?
Had no need. But go for it
Hold up in a wind storm?
Doubt it. Snow also will collapse it
Had decent wind and snow here. Still all solid

Yeah. Comes with those anchors for that actually . Have to drill holes
Can someone please tell me how the awning fair when it is windy 30-50 mph wind?
I would say I had winds around 30 here. so far solid. seems flimsy but still holding up. just power washed it last weekend.
Great. I been wanting to get these for my house. Are they loud when it rains???
Heavy rain. Maybe a little. But not like metal
I bought one after waiting 2yrs was wondering how to etc.
Get it done 👊
Wondering if this hold up to our high desert 🏜️ windstorms
If really bad. Might not. But Maybee still cheap enough to give it a try 🤗
do you need to fix that on the stubs? Otherwise it could tear out the vinyl side
Not sure what you mean. I set it up as seen. Still holding up great
Thumbs up am going to put one up
Frame is plastic, Does it last for 3 years ?
It’s still solid after all this time. Had no issues .
I have had mine since 2019 in FL sun not even brittle yet.
Thank you for the video
I need a 10 feet long one
They should have it. Or can get 2
Don't buy if your doorway is exposed to extreme wind, mine didn't last an Irish storm as did any of the neighbours ones
Extreme probably won’t hold. We had decent gusts by me. Was ok. But I agree with you if too exposed.
How much was it?
Cheap. Check Amazon for latest price.
Thankyou for sharing
👊
Why is this thing so hard to slide through the plastic part
Yeah. It can get a little annoying
Thank you
Thanks a lot
👍
those gold anchors are for brick, stone, or concreate walls not for siding or wood.
Correct 👊
should not be a problem with the anchors used.
Those screws will be ripped out with extreme wind or heavy snow (experience).
Extreme wind will most likely destroy the whole thing. With decent winds here in NJ mine still holding up. But it’s not a heavy duty design
I got the real ones from Lowe's
@@LaidBackLorawhich kind did you get?
