- For years I made my living as a wildlife researcher. Often doing bird surveys by ear. Hearing loss gradually took the joy out of being able to enjoy birding and made it difficult to hear friends and family. Then I discovered the Jabra Enhance select 200 hearing aids. These things are affordable and amazing! I can hear again! This is my story.

Don, when you cried for joy over hearing those birds, is the way I cried & felt after lasik surgery. I was able to see far without my thick glasses!

Thank you Jan! I can hardly wait to slap these things on and stare up into the trees. I can hear Grace's warbler even when they are 60 ft up in a pine tree! I tried an experiment. I took the hearing aids out and I cant hear them at all. period. I get chills when I put these things in. Me getting to relieve my childhood birding by ear!

Yeah Mrsjohnson1743. I can hear a Grace's warblers thin chattery song even when they are 80 ft up in a thick pine tree. These things way way went beyond what I thought hearing aids would do.

Hearing is such a blessing! I had mine damaged in 72 in the military. Back then, the hearing aids performed poorly, so i didn't use them. In 2000, i rec'd some from VA. I heard a humming bird in my "tree houe" where i always fed birds, and i too had a very emotional moment. he VA gives me a new set every 3 or 4 years, and they alwasy improve greatly from one set to the new ones. These i got last fall actually connect to my cell phone for media and calls. They get put in first thing in moring, and the last thing i do at night is remove them. I prize them greatly. Of course, these cost way more then over the counter ones. Fortunately, i dont have to pay the 10 grand for them.

This genuine testimony from You, Don, is exactly what I needed to hear & see❗ I am in beginning stages of hearing loss, and love to walk in nature. I know I am missing out on a lot of bird sightings due to not hearing them! (also the rattle of those snakes) I also, cannot spend a lot of money. I will further research. Since I used to bird primarily by ear anyway I am now re-learning some of my bird songs and discovering new Arizona ones. Just like candy land for me!!!

I got my Jabra Enhanced Pro hearing aids last year. They have helped me tremendously! My tinnitus is also far less noticeable, which has decreased my anxiety levels a lot too. I’m so glad you received financial help with yours!

I'm renting a room for $600 a month and just only work part time to make up the $600 so I don't use up my savings. It's not easy, to say the least, but I'm guessing you already know that. It's been an issue with myself as a veteran all these years. Been living in nature in a tent since the 1st week of June and can't hear the crickets, cicadas or faint sounds of the forests like I use to. Ringing in the ears really takes away the quietness and peace. Great to hear (no puns intended), you're back in the game again with "birding" Don!! Keep on doing what you're doing. I had to quit a former profession because of my hearing loss. Thank god I can still hear music fairly well, I think.

When you're indoors, you might want to set a microphone outdoors and speakers indoors. News Audio is when you lower frequencies below 100 hertz, but leave the rest hi-fi. Stereo speakers don't have to match. They just have to sound good.

Alex the thing about this vid is I didnt have to embellish or make anything up! I mean these things blow me away every time I put them in. Imagine being a teen and just laying on the lawn at night to hear the chorus of night insects in the autumn. Then fast forward and as a senior I hear none. I mean NONE including crickets. Slap the hearing aids in and turn up the treble and boom. Youthful hearing restored just like that. I still get emotional sometimes using them.

I'm so glad you were able to get hearing aids which have helped you. Last year I too got a pair with the help of my insurance company and Care Credit, that allowed me to pay the balance over a year with no interest. The difference is amazing! No more TV volume at 90, lol. Enjoy all the wonderful sounds you've missed!

Hi Don! Thanks for telling your story about hearing loss and your Jabra Enhance Select 200 hearing aids. I have the same hearing aids and have been using them about a week now. I'm not into bird watching myself, but can totally understand your experience. I also am very happy with my Jabra hearing aids and wish I had gotten them sooner. Seniors who may need hearing aids, and have a Medicare Advantage Plan, should check to see if their Plan includes a benefit for hearing aids. My plan totally covered the cost of my Jabra hearing aids.
Delighted this was helpful. My Medicare and supplemental plan didnt cover hearing aids at all. Thankfully the Jabra company gifted me with these since I produced a video for them.

I can understand: when I was about 12, Mother took me to an eye doctor and found the reason for my trouble in school and frequent headaches: serious myopia. When we went back to get the glasses, it was a bit uncomfortable, both on my face as well as eyestrain. But when we stepped outside and I looked at a big oak tree across the street, I froze and gasped, "the trees have leaves!" I had only been able to see a green blob before. (The glasses never felt uncomfortable again!)

You've got a nice dry warm place in the meantime.. I found a nice 10 acres place up in Kingman. Just gotta take some time off to go see it. It's 900 miles from here.. I might end up flying there as I'm a trucker and driving is all I do. haha.. take care..

Thanks for telling us about that. I think I might benefit from some hearing aids, too. Like you, I don't feel like I'm deaf, except I find myself sometimes missing sounds I should have heard, or just hearing things intermittently - sometimes I hear that truck driving down the road, and sometimes not. I find myself wondering - what was that sound? Then I realize I should have been able to recognize it. And the birds, of course. I find myself depending on my hearing ear dogs, and watching their reactions to see if that vague or odd sound is something to be concerned about. Yep, I think you have me convinced to look into it, and I'll look at Jabra first.
I had no idea I was so hearing impaired until I had these. When I take them out things get very very quiet. So amazed to hear birds again!

Mohammad its a pretty hot spot but not any hotter than tucson. For rainwater check with the area's average rainfall. Then learn about rainwater harvesting if that is the most cost effective scenario for you. Wells are expensive all over Arizona as a rule.

Hi Mountainlovers. It doesnt directly to be honest. But sound becomes so loud and clear that I find my brain tunes out the tinitus. I have it quite bad too.
I have hearing aids too. I don't really like to wear them but I am grateful at the same time..
These things are super comfortable and so I dont mind having them in for hours when I am hiking and birding especially.
Hearing the birds was the coolest thing when I got mine.

My goodness me Don.Hearing aids have come a long way.My twin brother had to use one in the late sixties and it was the size of a Sony walkman.
Yeah Graeme. My Grandad had some big klunky things that were awful. Yeah these are comfortable and so small lots of folks dont even know I am wearing them.
You are great. I have hearing loss and use hearing aids my self. There is no stigma about having hearing aids. I have premium hearing aids from VA heath admin. Make all the world differance. I still have problems but less then before hearing aids. I get tested about once a year and they dispense premium quality hearing aids. I love mine, has blutooth and I connect directly to my tv and hear t he programs. Now I don't blast my neighbors with over=-loud tv. Your message is great. After having hearing aids I would pay a premium for t hem.

Wow Don that is really good my wife tells me i need one to but way out of my price range there a good brand to my mum used to have some to it helped her alot but free from the government but the nurses always lost them always 3 pairs of them but they replaced them free was good i dont know if i can get dome the only thing she had to pay a service fee for batteries was only $30 a year that is Australian
Yeah Kriss the only way I considered them is that they have a monthly plan that I could handle. I signed on to that after I decided to purchase them and long before they were kind enough to pay me for a video promoting them. I would do a video regardless since they are that good.

Well thanks to dear old Dad I have nice big Welsh/Brit ears so they fit really nicely and I am not kidding here. I forget I have them in so go to scratch my ear and then whoops realize I have them in. I live in dry Arizona so not sure I can speak to steamy sweaty conditions. But have worn them on some really hot days here and super comfortable. Thought there would be a lot more drama to wearing hearing aids. Was pleasantly surprised.
