  • (ATI) American Tactical M1911 Military 45 ACP Review. This is my first 1911. I am impressed with the machine work and the tolerances are tight. I highly recommend this firearm. The link for part 2 is listed below.

In my opinion the m 1911 a1 is the ultimate semi-auto handgun. It won't go off. The series 80 is overkill. Also, when the 1911 was designed, hollow point wasn't yet invented. John browning designed both the gun and the ball ammo to work together. Stick to ball ammo, and you won't have a problem. The 1911s we were using in the service during the Vietnam War were at least 20 years old, and they were still good. They are safer than most other semi auto handguns. They have several built-in safeties. Carry it with a round in the chamber, and cocked and locked (with the thumb safety engaged [up]) That's how John Browning intended, and it IS the safest way!

Nice review, had one of these since 2018. Springfield mags work well too. Good buy.

Here Georgia, a good honest review of the affordable ATI -1911. I’ve had a Bakers Dozen 1911’s from $1000 to this ATI Meat & Taters GI model. GI = Government Issue. It functions better than my $$$ Colts 😳 I don’t know… so from a Savannah GA implant from WI, keep up the good 2nd Amendment work! 👍🇺🇸

I have the GI Commander , it had problems feeding so I purchased a stainless steel Wilson combat magazine that is top shelf and it solved all feed issues and then I purchased a front strap grip plate from Wilson combat and it gave it extra grip and then got black rubber grips that have the diamonds like nice wood grips and they look really good ! And my next upgrades will be a flat spring for the slide and recoil pad and I’m going to get target sights for it . I paid $360 for it it new. I love mine and it’s been a great pistol !

I'm hoping soon to get some film of all of my guns at the range. Thanks for commenting! It's a sweet shooter! I will be doing a video soon of a Wilson Combat flat wire recoil spring install. I am waiting for it to come in the mail.

I have the ATI and my friend has the Tisas and the ATI is much better. Having said that, the Rock Island GI is same price range and a little better than the other 2. Hope that helps 6 months later lol

You should check the history on how these other countries and factories like ATI got their machines to make 1911’s. Colt was building overseas during WWII and left the factory equipped after. Taurus has a similar situation with the PT 92 in that Berretta left equipment and Taurus bought it. Theoretically this should mean that some cheap 1911’s should be decent

I own this model as well as two Tisas 1911s. The ATI is not bad as it is, but the wooden grips are very poorly done and were replaced a better quality before the first range trip. From machining and fit-up to the finish, the Tisas products are superior to the ATI in every way imaginable. Both were supplied with plastic grips, but if your grandfather carried a 1911 in WWII, it had plastic grips too. All three handguns were priced below $400.

I honestly don't know. Most 1911 parts are compatible with one another, so it might.

I bought one back in 2018 for 275 bucks. I regret trading it in. Had no issues with her.
