- In this video, I demonstrate how to take a free-time MIDI Performance (recorded without a click), and conform it to a fixed BPM. Conversely - this method also allows a Tempo Map to be created from the same performance.

this is amazing!! i’ve been looking for a daw that had this feature since Opcode Studio Vision Pro. Yeah, I know, I’m old.
NOTE-I have never seen this information in any manual or video: If you are importing a MIDI file that was recorded on a DAW not using a click (free loose tempo jazz, etc) you must have your DAW set to the same tempo as the DAW it was recorded on even if that tempo has nothing to do with the approximate tempo of the performance.
I cannot do it... somehow in my tempo track it behaves differently, even though i am using a Mac also. Instead of moving the tempo, it is just creating inserting points similar to the ones that you can use to automate a track, but the "tempo ruler" will not be affected when I press command + click and then switch to option + click... can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong? Thanks!
Thank you Marcus !! But I have a problem. I have recorded 5 Midi Tracks. Now I have made the Timebase for all the tracks as Seconds. Now if I change the tempo the Midi clips get changed [longer or shorter depending on the tempo]. Couldn't find the reason.

Thank you for this vidéo it’s very clear ☀️ just a question : if i need to conduct a classical music with just midi instruments, the most simple way is to tap tempo and record it in to a track, the beat can be subdivised , after that you have the entire moving beat to conduct an intire long piece of classical music. It seems that with the méthode you described it will take a long long... time to achieve this, so is there another way to apply the beat track to the tempo track in Studio One ? Regards from France 🇫🇷 (excuse my poor english)

Question. If I have two tracks. And I make the an area of Track 1 say 125 tempo where entire track is set to 85, and then I add a Track 2, Midi track, where I have random measures in the track but I want to copy and paste a measure that happens to land in the region where the tempo track says 125, it messes up the measure because in Track 2, I don't need it to change tempo. Only in Track 1. So is there a way to apply a tempo change only to an event in one track? Would I instead need to just Quantize the Event in Track 1 I want to make faster so Track 2 isn't affected?
Hey Macus great videos. If I have a session I created at 65bpm and then I want to import a midi track from a different session. How do I go in and change the new imported midi track to be completely differernt then my session. I have timebase set to seconds for the new midi track brought in
There is no such thing in Ableton Live unfortunately
Dude you don't have to do this in Ableton which is a good thing you can play in different in different tempos without Ableton automatically time stretching your tracks to the global bpm and that's the point of this video studio one doesnt do it automatically got to do it manually which is a pain in the ass
