Marcus your plain speak insightful demonstrations of these more advanced workflow concepts is very refreshing. Thanks for your efforts please keep up the great work. I find even after I learn these concepts that I don't use them often enough that I am grateful to have your library to refresh myself as needed. For me Sound Engineering is only about 1/4 of my activities as I Write, Arrange, Track and Record, Engineer, and Master and than perform and shoot video and work to sync audio with my Homespun film and video's. All this and I am the one man band as well clearly more than anyone should attempt but for me its a passion and welcome distraction all of these challenges. You help to make the Sound Engineering part of my life a joy. Thank you.

Feel very lucky to have stumbled across your channel, thanks a lot for all the Studio One guides! You've saved me a lot of time coming over from Sonar where I knew how to use the tempo mapping for decent results

Hi Marcus -- Thank you for your videos. I've learned more from you than from the manual! (Which makes me sad because I like well written manuals.) NOTION was the reason I chose Studio One over all the competitors. BUT using Notion is almost impossible. It doesn't work like Musescore. Its manual is even worse than the S1 manual. I succeeded in getting a bass part into Notion today! Major victory after more than a year. Please do more of these. Please encourage someone to make some decent Notion videos. Thanks. : )

Thanks again Marcus for your insights and your energy! This is to help anyone with a similar issue: I couldn't move the barlines to the bend markers. The barlines stood firm. All settings correct but no cigar. Then I realized I had tempo changes later in the song document. So I deleted them - But - and this may be a sort of bug - I couldn't delete the last one however I tried, although now set to the initial song tempo. The issue persisted. But then I dragged this undeletable tempo change marker to the 1st bar down beat. Success! Finally, I was able to drag the barlines to the bend markers. Hope this makes someone else's day too.

Great video. It reminds me a bit of some of the new tempo capabilities in the latest Logic updates. S1 accomplishes pretty much the exact same thing though with a few more manual steps. Nice.

gesslr yeah I saw those new features added - and I watched a video on them - although admittedly I haven’t tried them yet.
I am very interested to see how well lpx handles this, because for me - I find it hard to believe it would be 100% accurate!
That being said - I feel like if PreSonus added some features like “identify downbeat(s)” they could very well automate this process! But I feel like the software needs some help in the initial stages before it could be done accurately

Give it a go...it’s pretty amazing. It’s worth watching a couple of videos to understand the different time modes first though. I think you are right: With a couple of additions, Presonus could automate a lot of this and would end up very close to new LPX stuff. gesslr = George Napier btw. Hello again!

      @marcushuyskensmusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah - I watched Eli's videos on Groove 3 that covered the new feature in LPX - that said, I tend to be really timid with any automated process done entirely by a program...
BUT I do feel like if I could give a program a "hint" first (like downbeats or identifying 8 bar sections) that it would then be possible for a program to automate the process accurately...
But in the meantime, I'm just happy that it's now an easy process in Studio One even if it involves doing things manually. :)

therealterrymilla you’re welcome! Were you able to do this on your own songs?

Thanks for this. It is exactly the kind of thing I want to get to as my composing with S14 improves/increases. Ending up with a lead and parts sheet is the goal :-). Thanks again.

Hi, Marcus, I wanna thank you for your excellent videos covering StudioOne usage. In this video I couldn't understand what to do to finish the process of putting a midi file on the right tempo. I recorded " You won't see me" from The Beatles but the piano is a little out of the metronome... I'm trying to put that midi track straigth following the metronome and subsequently ajust the vocals .
I am trying also to send some piano tracks to Notion without success, like Just Lisa comment below but I will see this later..
I'm from Brasil, I'm not sure you will understand my English, but thanks for your attention.

Marcus, in order to be more clear, I didn't understand what to do since I change the time basis from Seconds to Beats, ( around the 30 seconds of the video from 12 minutes on). There's some action I am missing , that's what I am trying to discover.. thanks

Thanks for the video! Has Studio One created a more automatic way to create a tempo map from a "free-time" MIDI recording so that I don't have to manually line up the bars with my MIDI notes (like how you do it, starting a 9:00)? I currently have version 6.6 and have Melodyne. Is this something I can use Melodyne for, or is there a way to do it internally just using Studio One?

Beauty of S1 is the functions are the same keystrokes. And the modifiers are what you are used to vs. Ctl

    Marcus,
Thank you so much for this video. It has really helped me ALOT!
I do have a question, let me start with some background.
I have a song. It has 1 vocal and 1 rhythm guitar.
Both of these tracks were completed with the timing being...not so great.
So, I followed your tutorial and now it is in time on both tracks following the manual tempo track I created.
    Here is my question:
If I would like to speed up the bpm of this song, AFTER I have made my manual tempo track, how could I accomplish speeding the bpm up and having the tracks to follow?
I have tried to adjust the bpm on the manual tempo track, but the tracks do not seem to want to follow my changes. I have both tracks set to follow and I also did a command b on both tracks to embed the tempo (after I made the manual tempo).
I must be missing "something" because nothing I do seems to give me the results I desire.
If you have any suggestions, I would be eternally grateful!
    Have a wonderful day!

what are those numbers on top of every note in the notion sheet? Is there a way to get rid of that?

Hey, how to tap tempo via the keyboard or the midi keyboard. Apparently there is not a single video or a write up anywhere regarding this. Hope you help me out. Thanks n Regards!

memrmarbles me Hmmmm... which part is different? Let me ask - Is it creating a node when you ctrl/drag the bar boundary?
The tempo scaling is a tad difficult to get, because you have to first ctrl/click the bar boundary and then hold the option modifier BEFORE dragging it.

I hope this is helpful: when the video mentions something like "set the time base to seconds" I thought it meant to select seconds at the very bottom of the GUI where we can select seeing the curser's position in Seconds, Samples, Bars or Frames. I set it to seconds down there, but was very frustrated that it wasn't working properly. Then I realized that Marcus meant going to the Inspector (click on the little "i" at the top-left of the GUI) and one of the options there is "Timebase" - and that is the place to set the time base to seconds. Then it worked for me!
