Keep in mind: if the grid went down, yes all the satellites will probably still be in orbit and still be functional. However satellite services such as your sat phone require a ground based function to operate. You pay subscription fees and the satellite service company controls all the access of your devices through their ground based servers. So if the satellite can’t authorize your device because the ground based server is down due to the grid being down now you just have an expensive paperweight. Something realistic to keep in mind!
Reference Library: hard copy books and manuals for survival, edible plant identification, maintenance/repair manuals for that generator you own. Books on electrical wiring, carpentry, plumbing (if you know the basics of either electrical or plumbing, you can figure the other out), reference material on agriculture and animal husbandry, etc. All these and more are VALUABLE if not PRICELESS resources especially when the Google goes down!

Rocket stoves boil water very quick as all the heat is directed to one spot. I made one from cinder blocks and a couple bricks. I live in the forest and twigs are everywhere for fuel. Just bought a little 8 inch chain saw from Milwaukee to cut kindling and trim branches. Works amazing and I just added wood too big for my stove to my kindling pile by cutting them smaller with it. I saved a iron cherry picker frame from the stuff the prior owner left and I’ll use it to cook food over my fire pit. Also you can buy the grates for your fire pits! Bought one a couple years ago at Grocery Outlet. Has built in legs if needed. Perfect for my fire pit.

Great information. You brought back memories for me when you spoke about bicycle tires. When I was a kid, someone gave me an old bicycle. The tires wore out, I was poor and could not afford to fix the tires. I rode the bicycle on the rims for a long time. Other kids made fun of me, but I had fun and enjoyed my bicycle. Thank God I am in a better place now. Your videos are great.

That situational awareness is a great practical awareness....the most common ones i see are if your fishing,hunting,swimming...lots of fish ,birds, some small animals you see are relaxed...then suddenly they disappear and its all quiet, and all the small fish and animals are gone....thats when ive seen threats like sharks, other people nearby, vehicles, predators. But its a good way of using nature around you to help you be aware of possible unwanted company.

I thank you three for helping my family survive through most anything we are prepared for it’s up to us to get prepared I just wish things weren’t so expensive right now but it is what it is godless
Along with fire starting, I would say that learning how to retain char paper or hot coals in dung or other methods of quick fire lighting without using striking methods is a good skill to learn.

No anti venom in SHTF I am pretty sure. Also gloves are handy if you have to move something thats diseased or dead and you dont wanna touch it! Couple pair of hard wearing gloves will serve you well and save you some problems : )
My Berkey\Aqua Pure filters are about 6ooo gals. That's with normal use, i.e., tap water. It will be a lot less using stream, lake or stagnate water. The filters will NOT last as long. I have about a years worth of filters on hand.
We have moved twice since using our Berkey. We started on city water, and had to clean the filters monthly. The well water in both places we lived were much better on the filters!

Filtering water - Sand, grass, pebble stones and all that left over charcoal from your fires used to cook your food!! Stack em in layers, pass the water through several times, then boil it! Sweeten to taste!
W/O refrigeration you will need to make larger meals and store leftovers as best you can… all food lasts longer once it is cooked properly! Some meal like beans, chili, stews and such can be kept on low heat for days (properly watched stirred & maintained) to prolong the freshness of the food. In fact such dishes only end up tasting BETTER the longer they cook like this!
Started slowly prepping 2 years ago. My problem is that I live in a small older 2 bedroom house with a hot attic, wet basement, and no garage. There are 4 of us. Not much room.
On outdoor cooking, a couple years ago I was moving my charcoal grill and I looked at the temp gauge. It was sitting in the sun and the internal temp was over 350 degrees all afternoon. I could bake in that all day. I like solar ovens as well. Made chicken in one and it was delicious. Used nothing more than the windshield sun guards and a cast iron Dutch oven with a glass lid.

if anyone has any issues with germinating old seeds try mixing the water with 1% hydrogen peroxide or just a little under 1% and it might help them germinate, it will help the odds of them germinating a little bit
Goldbacks for barter? If you like gold and metal, Goldbacks are the best way to stack fractional metal. Nothing like it. Just stock smaller denominations 1 and 5's for barter. For investment, then go to the actual heavy metal. Premium is kinda big for Goldbacks for Invesment. But for barter they are OK.
