The advice for today's caller gave me more thoughts to add to my "what I want and need in my next role" list.

I'm grateful to be on the bus, but I'm on the wrong bus. I'm actually getting on the right bus in 3 weeks! Thanks Ken!

It's not true about higher wages causing inflation $15 per hour today is about like $3 per hour 25 years ago when minimum was $5.25 why do prices go up way more than wages if wages are the cause of inflation top 10% income is up 400% the last 25 years the average workers wage is up about 130% what does that tell you

It wasn’t like 3 dollars 25 years ago but I get your point. It’d be about 6-7 dollars I think. I totally agree with you though. Higher wages is GOOD for the economy. It means people have more money to spend back into the economy which creates for jobs, goods, and services.

@usernameryan5982 I figure $5.25 back 25 years ago where the prices were vs today the average cost of living is about 500% or 5X higher than its was then as far as housing vehicles fuel food medical care and insurance so to be equal to then minimum should be about 25 to 27.50 to be equal to inflation $15 which currently the average lower end wage now is about like $3 would have been then $3 X 5=15

@@benh1356 I'm not sure if all those things were 5 times cheaper in 1998. I'd say everything is around 3 times more expensive. Median cost of a home in 1998 was around 150k. Gas was a little over a dollar per gallon. I depends on what you're looking at. But your points remains. Purchasing power was much higher in the past comparing wages and cost of good. I don't see how everyone thinks higher wages is the main driver of inflation. It is absolutely not true when looking at the past. We have record lows in unionization and higher prices. This libertarian propaganda needs to be exposed.

@usernameryan5982 I would say 4 is about average probably gas is about 3.5 to 4x higher grocerys 5 to 6 X higher housing atleast 3x to 4x higher maybe more with these last 3 years cars about 4x to 5x higher but you need alot more than $10 to $15 more per hour to qualify for a loan and to offset the cost increase of the higher stuff like housing and transportation especially with the high interest rates today 40 years ago 1 person could work at a factory 40 hours a week and buy a house food and transportation and get free health care for a family of 4 with no problem now you need 2 to 3 people in the house working the same job to cover the same expenses you could cover with 1 working back then

It is so silly to think think prices are where they are because of unions. We have seen stagnate wages for decades and to think that all this inflation is because wages are too high is absolute pure insanity. We also have record low membership in unionization so it’s even further evidence against this nonsense. To the point that pure unregulated free market capitalism bringing to highest amount of well being, where is the evidence for that? Our liberalized trade policies have gutted sectors of our economy that have no recovered or been replaced. We have higher wealth inequality than ever. Look at Dubai if you want complete free markets. A royalty class in one area with 20 construction workers crammed into one bedroom working as basically slaves. This garbage is pure libertarian propaganda.
