Celil (pronounced Ja-leel) graced our shop with five incredible performances on five separate classical guitars in early March of 2016. A wonderfully gentle man, supremely talented, very sure of his ability, he played effortlessly. It was an absolute pleasure to have him here with us at Savage Classical Guitar.
About Celil Refik Kaya : Celil began his interest in classical guitar at the age of six with the guidance of his father, Dr. Mehmet Refik Kaya ... Celil Refik Kaya is an artist of exemplary talent having performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls and the festivals. He received a full scholarship from Mannes College the New School for Music (Master of Music) in New York City and the University of Texas (Doctoral of Musical Arts)
About the Guitar: Ashley Sanders Classical Guitar #62 2016 Cedar Ziricote - Super, as in superb! Shaking of the head, you can't get over how clear, vibrant and alive this guitar is in your hands. Easy play, no buzz, growls in the mids, basses push, trebles sing. She's got it all. Built to his highest standard, Ashley is a very capable and talented luthier, one of the most musical lattice braced instruments you will find out of Australia, with power and sing in her voice.
Celil performs "Longing" written by Celil Refik Kaya. A beautiful and sensitive piece of music. He was warming up with it and Dan said, "What's that...play that"! Obviously. LOL Gorgeous and made better by the wonderfully expressive guitar built by Ashley Sanders of Australia.
