Honorary degree recipient and Grammy Award winner Amy Grant sings "Breath of Heaven" at the benediction of the 178th Commencement Exercises, May 21, 2023.
Wow, that was memorably fantastic. Praise God from whom all blessings flow 🙏 Congratulations to Amy Grant for her career which includes moments like this to celebrate the gift of God's grace in our lives. And I thank God for our University of Notre Dame to cultivate moments like this. I was on campus in 2015 for Aaron Neville's rendition of the Ave Maria. They'll know we are Christians by our love 💕 Praise God!
The song, Breath of Heaven, is also called Mary 's Song, since the lyrics are what Amy Grant imagined Mary, the mother of Jesus, would say in prayer, as a frightened, pregnant young girl. Amy Grant chose to sing this song at Notre Dame University since it is a Catholic university named after Mary, Mother of Jesus (Notre Dame is French for "Our Lady" which is what Catholics call Mary,). Amy had surgery to remove a throat cyst a few months prior to this performance and had to relearn how to sing.
Very well chosen song, and well, kudos to ND for having the guts to choose her. Anyway, thank you Amy, for what you and Keith (Green) did to help me grow with your music so many years ago. Keith is long departed, but we'll see him again.

I wonder how many people who on here hating know that Amy Grant had to have major throat surgery earlier that year (2023) to remove a cyst - a cyst that formed after a cycling accident - and that she practically had to re-learn how to sing. What she is doing here took a lot of courage, and she has all my respect.
But she's not too old yet. Yes, a woman's vocal prime ends around menopause or up to 64 years old. About Amy's age. But there are still women older who have maintain their singing voices much longer. Sandi Patty can not hit high notes anymore and her vibrato wobbles now. Also passed her menopause.@@alexk6226
@@SamuelM.-iz1un she had a major bicycle accident and suffered head trauma and serious concussion also had to have a cyst removed from her vocal chords/throat. She also had major heart surgery back 2021 I think. She's been through a lot these past few years. Bless her, she is a great person!
Great song, but her voice sounds weak and vulnerable. What happened? She had the most unique and special sounding voice in contemporary Christian music.

She sold out to the other side years ago and thinks nothing of hosting a pervert wedding. Sad.
You can go away now. Bye.
Ask yourself if what you've just said would please Jesus. And eventually, repent.
@calogerofanara837 it's the truth. AG's the one who needs to repent.
Yes, I was taken aback when I heard her on that interview. Hosting a same sex marriage.
@SamuelM.-iz1un it would appear so.
Wow. That was…. really bad.
Such a bad example for Christians everywhere...me, me, me , me, me....
