I was standing half a mile away close to my car (there was another bear too) and let a camcorder record the scene. The audio is from there. The drone doesn't have a mic and as you rightfully say, its own sounds would make it unpractical to record anyways.
That's called a "cowboy walk." Bears do it to show dominance. If you watch footage of bear on bear encounters you will see it quite often. They typically urinate on themselves at the same time.
