Watching England is like that 2014 Florida State team that stumbled into being undefeated despite their attempts to the contrary.

Craig Burley is currently leading the contest for the most embittered Scotsman.

Terrible commentary. Saka continuously roasted his defender on the right and put in beautiful passes - and none of the forwards ran on to the crosses. Saka was continually making chances but the forward line lacked the personnel and the system to capitalise

England winning really adds to Craig's tears, I love it every round. Such a bitter Scot.

Foden's had a terrible tournament. Offered very little in open play, but equally his set pieces have been woeful. For the semis, he should be dropped for Palmer or Gordon, but we all know that's not going to happen

Gary Neville said of Southgate today: 'He's the Englishman who has more experience of tournaments than any in history'. With all the stinging criticism he's received, we have to respect his consistent record. It's bizarre we're achieving this through such poor football but Deschamps is doing the same for France and look at his record. Southgate is our Deschamps.

Embarrassing punditry. Saka was clearly the best player yesterday but he still has to be benched for Palmer. He gets double teamed by nearly every opponent because he is England's biggest threat. Kane and Foden have been lukewarm. Bellingham is trying too hard

I was mostly fuming with Kane. He just wouldnt stay up top. I got so angry seeing him drop deep. He needs to stay up and get goals.

Remind me again how did Scotland and USA do ? Have France scored a goal that's not a penalty or deflection? Glass house

I wish Foden got as much critisicm as Saka got when he stinks up a game

Imagine constantly winning and someone saying you're "lucky" and "don't deserve to be where you are". Southgate is doing his job 💐. We've been spoiled by all these deep tournaments runs recently.

30 plus caps and We're still waiting for Foden do something more than a 5 yard pass in an England shirt.

I'm not Southgate's biggest fan, but when all these pundits are slagging him off, he can turn around and say to them what have you guys done as a manager ?

As a LFC fan as soon as Gareth brought TAA at 115 minutes I knew he will take a penalty but in didn’t think he will take the last penalty

For most of the games at the EUROs apart from today at times, England have played some of the most boring football I’ve ever seen, yet they’re still in the tournament as they’ve made it to the semifinals following their penalty shootout win over Switzerland. They might actually win this tournament playing like this. A lot of people have pushed an agenda against Gareth Southgate and think that he’s a fraud and a terrible manager, but at the end of the day, he’s taken them to 3 semifinals in the last 4 major tournaments. After 5 games against Slovakia Slovenia Denmark Serbia and Switzerland, they have won 1 game in 90 minutes and have also scored 5 goals and they struggled in a group where all the teams that advanced to the next round failed to win a single game and they were the only team that won a game. This is 2004 Greece all over again, this is the exact same way that Portugal won the EUROs 8 years ago where they finished 3rd in their group and struggled to win games in regular time.
