Alana try watching Chihayafuru it got some cute romance and traditional games in Japan named Karuta. the thing is i just really want to pass the dilemma the series have. whos the right guy for girl, her friend who follows her to play the game she love for her to be happy? or the boy who introduce the the girl thing she love that makes her happy.

This show is simultaneously a hilarious romcom about otaku and an acid test to see how big an otaku the viewers are based on the number of anime / manga / gaming references you get. The fact that I only had to look up about half of them told me that I was a little deeper into anime than I expected.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned already but there are 3 OVAs, the last one is sort of a finale to the show. I’ve only been able to find them on TH-cam, but they’re probably elsewhere. Also, there are a bunch of videos of people doing the opening song hand dance thing!
Wotakoi kinda hit different from other romance animes, one of the unique, romance gems that I came across watching that truly stood out for me from the rest of the rom/coms, I really enjoyed this one. I always gotta balance my Shounen animes with good rom/com animes, bc they always hits a sweet spot for me. In my top 10 all-time favorite animes, there's only 1 romance anime in there and the rest are Shounen anime lol (Although, Kaichou wa Maid and Kimi ni Todoke are in my top 30 list). The one romance anime that's in my top 10 is called, "Nana" and coincidentally its ranked 7th... for me if you are into drama/romance and Josei type of romance, this feels like the "Death Note" equivalent, in terms of "Classic Anime", where its "must watch" for drama/romance fans and Josei fans.

Been an Otaku has a lot of cognotation in Japan, mainly because they are tie to been a Hikikomori. I remember there was a case of a woman that though her husband was cheating on her because he was always late and never wanted to tell her where he was, she hired a private investigator and it turns out the guy like to go to special events and karaokes about Miku(an anime idol) and thats why he was always late.
This anime is very funny and it can be better if you understand the references of animes and games. They are like an adult version of Hori and Miyamura.😁
This show reminds me of what it was like trying to find people to play D&D and other rpg tabletop games with as an adult in the workplace, before TTRPGs became more well-known. You'd talk about movies and TV, note people that didn't reject sci-fi and fantasy outright, then (to see if they already played or if they might be open to joining a group) casually dropping gaming references into work conversations. "Yeah I critically failed that presentation."/"You really hefted that box of printed paper easily, do you have a Belt of Ogre Strength or something?" 😁
There are like 3 OVA episodes as well. Though I don't know if they are streaming anywhere. The manga continued beyond what was adapted in season 1. I guess the OVA episodes covered some of that. I want to get the manga.
u have to check out "the ice guy and his cool female colleague" it's also a workplace romance and i loved it as much as i did this one and the yamada lvl 999 one
highly recommend ore monogatari or "my love story" in english if you want a romance with super wholesome feels and characters that actually get together early on. also has great side characters and is hilarious

After you finish this GREAT show, if you are still interested in more adult main characters check out "Recovery of an MMO Junkie". I think you will like it as well. Though you also can't go wrong with "Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it" either. :)
This is just an opinion of an otaku that has never been to Japan yet: Comiket are conventions for those individuals or groups who publishes independent manga(doujinshi), games, music albums, illustration arts and etc. It also doubles as a place for cosplayers to gather. I'd love visit one someday.
There was a time when in the US being a nerd was also a negative trade but this changed over time and now nerdismn is mostly celebrated. It is similar in japan but they took longer for that. Part of the reason where some cruel murders that ruined the image of otakus for a long time. Most notably Tsutomu Miyazaki who was even named the Otaku Murderer from the media. Oh and better don't look that up when you have a weak stomach.

this show is amazing ! I remember that I saw it by chance, and I ended up loving it, especially its opening.
