Started golfing this summer and ALSO found your channel. Golfed a personal low 98, breaking 100 for the first time. Broke 100 with an abysmal 9 strokes on the final hole which was a par 4, it was a miracle!

Have not played consistently in 20 years (work and kids) , I have been hitting 200 pitches in my back yard and going to the local golf course and hitting at least 100 chips around the practice green 3xs a week. I was trying something to leave the energy into the back of the ball. I noticed I pick up another 10 yards with it. I am trying to learnt o keep the face square instead of rotatingin my hands so agressively into a flip.
Any wedge based advice I’m a very long hitter and good with wedges around the green and at full shot distance but I’m unable to dial my distance very well

Noticed on side hill lays is the only time you stay balanced through the shot and not move back or to the side through the follow through and on normal shots you move to the side or back in balanced through follow through the ones on the side hill lays solid every time
Hey Matt, Love your videos. Question for you or anyone else who can answer this. On hole 6 your short put was going in the hole and then hit the stick and bounced out. Whenever I play a casual round we always count those as holed but yesterday I was in a tournament and that exact same thing happened to my partner. The ball was not going to fast and started to drop in the hole but then the ricochet off the pin bounced it out. Not knowing the exact rule we counted the extra stroke. Does anyone know by rule what happens in this situation?
I didn't count it here, for the video because otherwise Karens would lose their minds. But I would count that for the social round. It hit center right of the flagstick and was a perfect putt that i meant to execute. i just rush because of the camera angle I wanted to show Bdogs putt from. But in a tournament, you only count it when it goes below the surface of the hole. There are zero gimmes or takebacksies
@@GolfSidekick True -- also, didn't the rule just recently change about hitting the flagstick? I seem to remember the stick had to be pulled for a stroke taken from the green. Caddies could tend the flag for a long putt but they had to pull it after the putter made contact because if the ball struck the stick it was a penalty
Like most high handicap golfers (27 in my case) I am always working against a slice. However when I need a slice/fade around trees my 5 iron attempts nearly always go straight or left with little or no slice/fade bend. Why?
Really great content as always. As good as your score was, it was actually not as good as you were playing - couple of very make able missed putts, and the injury on the final 9-iron shot robbed you of breaking 70. Inspiring stuff!
LOL the groin is a real problem from too much sitting But yeah playa I don't take it all too seriously. I filmed both me and BDog so it was a challenge that's for sure playa! Fun times and our last round of golf before they shut it all down again
Am I right that going from 100s to 90s is the easiest step, 90s to 80s is harder, and 80s to 70s requires serious time and effort? I've made the first two progressions and I'm now shooting in the low eighties consistently (on my home course where I play regularly). Right now, my "game" does not seem to translate to other courses, however, and I am struggling to imagine how I will make the next step to shooting regularly in the upper 70s.
Play more courses more often Understand the lie of the ball and how it will affect your shot and which shot for which lie Understand your game and not what someone tells you should happen. If you do not hook a ball off a hook lie for example, most will say it will hook, but you know it doesn't for you, so stop aiming for it. This is an example only, so know your game Have a good process that is very very consistent and helpful before your shot and during your shot. It will get you through the slump in the middle of the round and help you on new courses to deliver a good shot Inside PW range is all you need to get good at to reduce your scores. Working on the short game will tranlsate to your long swing. Just go hit a ton of pitch shots, wedge shots, chip shots and putts. Easy game
I don't think it went that far. I can see it going 280. The steep downslope starts around 240 and I nutted that one straight downwind (1 and a half club wind)

@@GolfSidekick your tee shot says 556 yards. Your second shot says it’s from 161 yards. That means your drive went 395 yards. It’s the only way you had 161 left.

Btw I tried deep couple of years ago - lot of wrist issues but you look strong - would recommend you do a small muscle workout for the wrists
