@@smoothjazzonthewav I rank Mora rants as follows: 1. Diddly poo 2. Injury rant presented here. 3. Playoffs?! Diddly poo is clearly the best because it covers so many topics... embarrassment, shame, shitty coaching, shitty playing, running the ball, not trying to run the ball, the other team scoring points, I'm leaving out a few. A masterpiece.
you cheer AFTER the person is going back to the bench(or at least when he's up and moving around and he's taken off the field), you don't clap/cheer when he's on the ground, not moving and in pain
They might have cheered him for trying his best for playing ("hey, you tried, you did your best"). That was not taken into perspective. His own fans *and* the Giants fans all cheering an injury, come on, stretching it a bit. I think this was an over-exaggeration by Mora, of course, I was not there, but I honestly doubt it happened as Mora perceived it.
I did watch the part where Wilson got hurt and Deirdorf really called them out. He called them "Pigs" on national TV. He had the right to call them out. That was a classless move by those Saints fans.
I just heard that Wade Wilson died, and this was the first thing I thought of. I remember watching this game with my dad one Sunday afternoon, and his sentiment mirrored Mora’s almost exactly.
You don't actually believe that's what happened, do you? It might have seemed like it, but perhaps they were cheering for other reasons, think about it a majority of fans cheering an injury for someone who was not even a bad person, nonsensical. They were possibly cheering for the Giants or or for his effort, hence the standing up, clapping and cheering. I cannot imagine thousands of fans cheering an injury, you would think there were people there who were concerned. Blown out of proportion, I believe.
I was born in 01’ so to say the least, I think Mora was a litttttle before my time. But he really just seems like a genuine, good dude. Not many coaches now a days tell it how it is like he does.. Saints have had a couple great coaches, Sean Payton being a fan favorite.
"If it had been their sons on the field, they would'nt have cheered."-Jim Plunkett on Raider fans cheering (Raider QB) Dan Pastorini's broken leg at the hands of Dino Mangiero, week 5 of the 1980 season.
That doesn't surprise me. Watching this I see a guy who doesn't give his players an inch and a guy who will chew their asses when they screw up, but ultimately will have their backs. Coaches are so damn boring, same old bullshit press conferences where they say nothing. Watching the old Mora pressers is a breath of fresh air. Especially the diddly poo rant, I never get tired of that one.
EASILY his best rant. I dont know why people like the playoff one. This is hilarious! "Mentally sick, sick in the head" and "gets his knee blown UP" and "people are nuts" haha. I need a t shirt with "people are nuts, they're sick" on the back of it and Moras face on the front
This is still happening in recent years. Raptors fans were cheering when Kevin Durant went down after tearing his achilles in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
I was there. Most, like me, were cheering because Wilson had just actually completed a rare pass for a first down. We didn't realize he was hurt for a minute or so. I, and the folks I was with, stopped cheering the moment we saw Wilson slow to get up. A lot of this is on Mora and Carl Smith. The offense during those years was horrendous after Bobby left. That game was a joke itself.
No he was still Saints coach for a couple years after this. This was near the end of the '93 season and he resigned about halfway through the '96 season, the day after his "diddly poo" rant.
Agree with Jim Mora on this one. Also happened to a Cowboys player who was badly injured during play, and the opposing fans were cheering it - Like Jim said - Sick.
I was actually at this game... it was an 1992 exhibition game between the Saints and the Oilers. I remember asking my dad what happened, the fact we were the NFC West champions the year before...
So since you were there. Did the thousands of fans Mora pointed out actually cheer on the injury, or were they cheering for the Giants, or maybe for the effort? This is possibly a "blown out of proportion" frame mind.
@blackandgold51 While it's not intelligent to injure a injured player (opponent or not), Mora was talking about Saints fans cheering its own player's injury. Mora defended one of his players on that speech.
What struck me most about this was the Saints had lost three games in a row, Wade Wilson was struggling, and yet the first thing Jim Mora did was to call out the inexcusable behavior of the Saints fans (yeah you cheer for the backup).
I wish he would comeback to coaching if for nothing else his sound bites alone..lol Always a class act weather you understand him or not. Personally I've never had a problem with him...
To this day, Saints fans are a little weird. Not too weird, just gently weird in a Sean Vincent Gillis kind of way. Like they seem like regular folk but then they do one or two things that make you say "huh, that was a bit unhinged."
i was at that game, i remember it well. wilson should have been pulled long before he had the chance to get hurt. they should have never let bobby hebert go at the time
Back in 4th grade (winter 1993) during recess whenever a class would get in trouble and have to stand against the wall this other class would clap. I am very very anxious to find out how Jim Mora would react to that. I wonder what he’d do to them if he was a teacher at that school and he saw that happen.
Lol back when Saints fans with bags on their head were so desperate for a winning team, that they actually cheered for a QB being injured, just so they could try a different QB in games lol
Jim Plunkett on Raider fans cheering Pastorini's broken leg: "If it had been their sons on the field, they wouldn't have cheered". Also, Eric Winston on Matt Cassel's injury: th-cam.com/video/3miJDWa3CLM/w-d-xo.html
Wade Wilson was playing horribly at the time and the Saints were on a downward spiral for the season, but the big cancer on this team was OC Carl Smith. his offense was the most predictable I've ever seen in the NFL, EVER. Mora refused to make a change all of those years and Smith was the reason for the eventual collapse of this team.
Wade Wilson died due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes on his 60th birthday. Two of his toes on his right foot amputated because of an infection caused by complications from his diabetes condition.
Jim Mora was a TRUE CLASS ACT, his interviews are classic. Plus he wore his heart on his sleeve
Give this man a cigar .He is one bad ass coach. Telling like it is. I agree with him.
The most disgusting, sick, rudest, demonstrations I've ever heard. People are sick!!!! LMAO Mora is a beast!!!!
Don't hold back coach, tell us how you feel!
I think he feels sick
Jim Mora kills me. People are sick LMAO!!!!!!

No matter what the situation between sports teams are. Nobody deserves to be disrespected like that
Head coach Jim Mora will swear that he will watch their foul mouth. Fans promised Jim Mora to quiet cheering while an injured quarterback Wade Wilson.
I sick that we don’t have Jim Mora in the NFL. He has some of the all-time best rants of any sport: Diddley Poo offensively•PLAYOFFS🤣
He says sick 12 times. That's absolutely friggin sick!

I remember this. Dan Deirdorf was even more critical of those people on live commentary. I also remember agreeing.

Ahhh dan pastorini... how I love the seasoning you provide for my bbq chicken.
Agreed. Those are sick people.
Frank O I agree. Those people are sick because an injury like that could be life changing or threatening.
The players are millionaires and can afford being taken care of I hope nick Foles blows his knee next weekend
I love Jim Mora NFL needs more old school coaches like this in 2024
Knew a guy that played for Mora, said he was a great coach, and a great person. Still stays in touch with him.
Phil Anderson I met Jim Mora once. I got along with him. Be careful what you say to him.

A lot of this is on Mora and Carl Smith. The offense during those years was horrendous after Bobby left. That game was a joke itself.
Why isn't this one a legendary quote?! God Bless him. I KNOW HE'S AN ANGEL.

RIP Wade Wilson
I was actually at this game... it was an 1992 exhibition game between the Saints and the Oilers. I remember asking my dad what happened, the fact we were the NFC West champions the year before...
No I thought this was a 1993 MNF game against the Giants.
The 1992 preseason game against the Oilers was when he made his "vomited in the stands" rant.
I thought it was a game against Philly.
So since you were there. Did the thousands of fans Mora pointed out actually cheer on the injury, or were they cheering for the Giants, or maybe for the effort? This is possibly a "blown out of proportion" frame mind.
Andrés Serna Wade Wilson was with the Falcons in 1992. He joined the Saints in 1993.
