I was a fan already because you are so clean and neat and ethical. I am now glad and proud of you both for being such good parents. It amazed me to see your kids involved and not on electronics. You have an amazing family. God bless you all.
As a long, long time breeder, I used to do this method but have found that using squares of artificial grass in the trays (instead of potty pads- and no grate) works much better and prepares the puppies for going outside.
@@robin212212 you just put a potty pad underneath and hose them off a couple times a day. Have multiple pieces of the artificial turf, let them air dry between use. Easy peasy.
I have heard many people say there’s no way to ethically breed goldendoodles, but I think this channel would have to change their mind because it’s so evident how knowledgeable you are and how wonderfully cared for and clean these puppies are.

Hi! Love your videos. My question is, with that many trays involved how does mom get in there and lay down to nurse? That’s the issue I’m running into.
Hi! Could you put a link to the new neon tray and the metal grate that goes above it? I notice the metal grates above the neon trays look different from the other ones. Thank you! 😀❤️
Hi! I was wondering about when y’all bring a puppy on an airplane to its new owner. Do the pups need anything to calm their nerves, or do they travel well? I’ll be flying to FL from Oregon soon and wondering about your experiences in this. Btw, I have learned so much from you, thank you for all you do!
This is the way I recently potty trained my Chihuahua. I litter trained it, as opposed to letting it go outside, and it was by far the easiest and the best method I have ever used. So what I did was purchase a 24 X 18 wire doggy crate and put a doggy bed, a doggy blanket, and some doggy toys inside it. At the same time, I also purchased a 24 X 18 solid plastic container with high sides that I customized into my new doggy litter box by using a hack saw to cut out an opening on one side of the container large enough so a Chihuahua can enter and exit it easily. Then I added an inch layer of pine pellets to the floor as the litter material. Next, with the Chihuahua puppy inside the doggy crate I butted the doggy crate opening to the doggy litter box opening. As the idea was that the Chihuahua puppy would sleep and play in the doggy crate but when it needed to eliminate, it would eliminate in the doggy litter box. Guess what, it worked like a charm. So for the first three weeks, I kept this up only letting the Chihuahua puppy out to bond and play only after I saw that it had very recently eliminated. Then after three weeks, I slid the doggy litter box out about a foot and a half away from the doggy crate. Then I monitored my new puppy closely throughout the day to see if she was using the doggy litter box like she was supposed to, and she did flawlessly. Then subsequently, I slid the doggy litter box on each successive day a little closer and closer to the final designated location for the doggy litter box I had previously picked out. When the litter box was in its final designated location, I then considered my new puppy fully potty trained. In any event, this was not only by far the easiest time I ever had potty training a Chihuahua puppy, but it was the first time I ever trained a Chihuahua puppy without having even a single puppy mistakes. As what makes this method so wonderful is the puppy literally trains itself. Moreover, a litter box, as far as I'm concerned, is not only the easiest way to train your pet because your pet essentially trains itself, but overall it's the best solution as well. As I don't have to worry about maintaining a set schedule to let my puppy out or about the time it takes to do it. I don't have to worry about whether it is snowing or raining outside or if it is freezing or too hot. I also don't have to worry about leaving the puppy alone for an extended period of time. I also don't have to worry about fleas, ticks, mosquitos, or my dog getting a disease another dog left behind. I also don't have to worry about other dogs attacking my tiny Chihuahua since she always remains inside the home. As far as the litter material goes, I highly recommend pine pellets because it virtually eliminates all odors and it is quite easy to work with. It's also far cheaper than other kinds of litter materials and does a far better job at eliminating odors. As you can buy a 40 pound bag of the stuff at Tractor Supply Company for $6.79 plus tax and you will use only about two to maybe three bags a year. Meanwhile, when a dog or cat urinates on the pellets, the pellets disintegrate into odorless saw dust. To make cleaning my doggy litter box easy, I purchased a sifting cat litter box as a cleaning aid only. So what I do to clean the litter box since I always flush down the toilet any solids as soon as I see them, is empty the doggy litter box in the sifter of the cat litter box. Then I sift the sawdust in the sifter into the cat litter box below. When all that remains in the sifter are pine pellets, I then empty the sifter back into my doggy litter box and then add about a scoop to a scoop and a half of pine pellets to make up for what was used. Then I empty the sawdust in the cat litter box from below the sifter into the trash since it is odorless. Lastly, I wipe everything down and put everything up until the next time. As I clean my doggy litter box out about once a week. This method of potty training won't only work for Chihuahua's, it should also work for most breeds of dogs as well.
This is amazing! Did you keep the crate and potty box in an enclosed play yard area, or a gate enclosed small room? 🤔 I took my parents' senior Maltese when they passed. She was 12 & messed on all the carpets. That was not going to work with me! I litter box trained her with a pad in a low entry litter box butted up to her bed in a pen. As she used it properly, I made the distance between potty box & bed further apart (lots of praising & treats, kept enlarging the pen). Once I felt comfortable, I started leaving the pen gate open & let her run around the living room & kitchen (gate closed rooms off from rest of house). This worked well except for she pees a lot so sometimes if I couldn't change the pad fast enough she would track urine around outside the box! 😨 If it were not for her advanced age (almost 17 now with cataracts & barely hear), I would definitely try pellets that would help with smell, cost, & urine tracking. To save money on pads I bought 30" x 35" people pads (hold more urine & heavier) & cut in 4ths to save money. They almost fit the 24" x 30" x 5" litter box. Close enough for the money saved! 😊 How do you train for travel? Do you use pads in a litter box? Thank you so much for posting. I want a small Chihuahua so much that I could travel with to my kids' houses. If can find one I can afford in the south FL to LA, will be my next dog! 😊♥
@@southernlady8809 Well, when we go out of town overnight, my wife's sister keeps her for us and of course, we return the favor by keeping their dog for them when they go out of town overnight. Moreover, I have never used pads because to me they are gross. I always and will always use that litter box I made with pine pellets because pine pellets eliminate any odors. The only problem is there is a small amount of tracking of pine pellets on the floor from when she exits the litter box, but when we do cleanups it takes about a minute to vacuum it up. During the training her crate and litter box were set up in a wash room.
