    At 3 weeks our Weimaraner puppies start potty training and wearing begins. The puppies get a box with alfalfa pellets for their potty area. We give them warm goat's to start weaning.
    It's amazing how puppies get an idea of doing the right thing from the very beginning. Please subscribe for updates on how our puppies grow and develop and share our videos with friends.

      Puppies and kittens meet their goals when they're younger, so long as they remain with their mother. Mom teaches them everything. Hence it's important they stay with her until the recommended date not earlier as ppl try to do, but it's def worth it.

    Wow! You are amazing!! Puppy’s that are pretty much already potty trained at 3 weeks?!?! I know dogs that are over 1 year old and still not house broken. I can see how it would be easier to transition them to potting outside in the grass if they’re use to the Alfalfa pellets. I’m guess you’ve did this before? Thanks for the video also.

    • @preciousdogs
      @preciousdogs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to help them by placing them where you want them to go. They all pee after they wake up. So wait for that and put them on grass after they wake up. It takes some practice for them. Also, don't give them a large area to walk around, it has to be fairly small while they are in training.

    Great idea with the alfalfa pellets. How deep do you make them, change them, and what is the container they are in? Thanks and sorry to ask so many questions. Is it there when they wake and after they eat? Any other times or do you take it in and out, thanks?

    • @preciousdogs
      @preciousdogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not deep, just to cover bottom of the box. Change depending on getting dirty. My mothers actually like to come and clean after puppies even after they go on their own. Yum! : )😄
      You can use any box or container with low sides.
      But sprinkle pellets with water to make them softer in case puppies decide to eat them.
      Any small item is a danger of inhaling and suffocating, so we always watch our puppies.

      And What kind of alfalfa pellets did you use ? 😊

    • @preciousdogs
      @preciousdogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, 4 weeks is not late to start! Any pellets would work, alfalfa or wood. Sprinkle pellets with water before use to soften them, just in case puppies want to try them eat. Have puppy area small, just sleeping area, food and water bowl, and potty. When puppies wake up, help them step into the pellets, they will pee there right after they wake up. And pellets will smell like a potty area for them.
      Just remember pellets may be a choking hazard.
      If you don't have pellets, pine shavings would work.

I have many puppies that will straight up shit in their crates and roll in it cuz they don’t want to be there, even if they have to sleep in it for the night.

    • @preciousdogs
      @preciousdogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How old are your puppies and how big or small is their space? You need to start potty training using this strategy right when you start weaning between 3-3.5 weeks. You can help puppies learn faster by putting them into the potty box after they wake up. If they are older than 4 weeks, you may have a problem with training them but it is still possible.
