  • CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS have made building and styling websites ridiculously easy in recent times. The introduction of Tailwind CSS UI component libraries has made the website building process even easier. But do you really need to be using a UI component library in 2024?
Let's take a look and find out!

I love the border radius on the face cam maybe increasing it a bit more would look nice

    I. Just. Have. Such. A. Hard. Time. With. The. Constant. Jump. Cuts.
enjoying your videos but its real hard to stick them out due to the editing!

I though I went easy on the jump cuts this time 😅

@@codingoblin I honestly really like your content.
It is purely the editing, you are jump cutting for like 0.2 seconds of pause. It feels super jarring.
Maybe its just me, perhaps someone else will share if it bothers them.

Nah its not just you, a few people have said it. I consciously toned it down for this one but I can see how its a bit excessive 🤣
I'll tone it down even more next time 🙂

I'm still not 100% sure on who exactly is using component libraries. I guess they would be great for sites which require repetitive and standardised layouts like a lot of B2B sites use - where you can paste the component then simply update the backend stuff. But if you're working for a more creative agency like I am, then I can imagine there would be a lot of 'undoing' of both markup AND Tailwind classes in order to match the designs.
I was thinking of another example of why someone would benefit from using a component library and I thought maybe a freelancer but then if you are a freelancer doing non-bespoke site for clients then wouldn't be easier and faster to just use a page builder in WordPress or a dedicated platform like Wix or something?
Which target audiences can you see benefiting the most from using component libraries? I'd like to see/hear more practical/real world examples of application within certain contexts etc.

Yeh I can see how a UI library wouldn't be ideal for a creative agency. It's probably dependant on the clients needs. If you are a designer or work with a designer then you most likely wouldn't need to use one.
I use them for web apps. Lots of saas websites use them. They are great when the functionality of the website is the most important part of it rather than having a unique design. BUT they are so flexible that you can create a unique design if you use them as a starting point. Personally I don't think they need too much "undoing" to make them look unique.
It comes down to the situation basically and using the right tool for the job. Don't need to force it if it's not required 🙂
