Sometimes in business you can win and lose at the same time. This fenominom was just demonstrated on #dreamhome on Australian TV. There were 2 sisters that managed to negotiate a great deal for themselves but looked terrible in the process. In this video I give my thoughts and talk about the lessons that can be learned from this.

Is THIS component library better than Tailwind UI??? [HERO COMPARISON]

Tailwind UI is an amazing Tailwind CSS component library. There is no denying that. It is also fair to say that it is one of, if not the best tailwind component library out there. After all it was made by the creators of Tailwind CSS. So it is the least you would expect. But is there a UI library out there that can match Tailwind UI, or even surpass it? Well we are about to find out in this vid...

Another random banger youtube video ♥
Thanks mate 👍
I appreciate your honesty and I laughed throughout this man. It is odd though, why is university pushed so much? Most people I know went to uni because they did not know what else they wanted to do? Because they did not foster a sense of entrepreneurship, because we were not taught that we could think for ourselves and trust ourselves, because we had to follow the rules, because we are 'good' if we follow the rules. I have been through school, sixth form, uni and masters....and I am finally starting my business because I did not trust myself before. Now I do. Thanks for sharing! And for the one random person reading this comment - trust yourself more!
I think uni is pushed because it's part of the system designed to build worker drones. Also its a money making machine. It ties into what you are saying about being 'good' and following rules. The system we live in relies on the vast majority of people being that way. If everyone was entrepreneurial the system wouldn't work. I think I said system too much 😅
What is the benefit of coding over a website builder? More customisation?
None (depending on the required outcome and your existing skills). If you can build a website significantly faster by coding, then this would be an advantage. If you need some custom functionality that you can't get off the shelf then coding would also be an advantageous. Both coding and using a website builder have advantages and disadvantages, it comes down to using the right tool for the situation you are in 👊
@@codingoblin I do love a right tool
I just got made redundant so talking about starting your own business was a reminder to get cracking with things! Can you remind us of what you do? I know you freelance but do you also work PAYE or Contract at all? Would be cool to see a vid about how you got started with freelance etc.
Sorry to hear about being made redundant. I'll do a video about how my business got started

@@codingoblin Your most welcome 👍👍👍
Thanks you, it worked! After followed many tutorial, your video is all i need.
No worries mate, glad you got it working!
I live in England. Mr @codingoblin, may I suggest you add a title card to the end of your video where viewers can click to subscribe or watch one of your other vids? Nice gimble skills
Yes you may suggest that. I will probably go through all of these videos and do all that admin at some point in the near future! You going to watch the Euros? England are going to win surely?
@@codingoblin Yes sir!
I have high hopes for Scotla... oh wait I just saw the score 🤣
This is my favourite video 😂
Thanks 😀
Very true and I think you make good points about developing your personal skills through making videos. I can definitely see how doing it often would make you more confident and less apprehensive, even with presenting ideas to other people in person, etc...but my question is how does having a TH-cam audience help grow your personal business? Like, what's the end game? To build up a customer base? I'm just a bit confused about that and worry that by spending time that I should be marketing or trying to get customers by making videos that I'm not being productive. Would be keen to hear your thoughts!
Also, nice haircut 😊
It would depend entirely on your business and how you want to go about it. There's not one set way of making money from putting out videos. Having an audience is a form of social proof - if people subscribe to you and take your points on board, you are demonstrating that you are an authority on whatever subject your videos are about. This alone will help with making sales as it shows your credibility. You are also spreading awareness of your business. If you put out a video and it reaches one hundred viewers, thats 100 more people who know about you and your business. The algorithms on these platforms are very good at getting your videos infront of the right people. If your business builds software for plumbers, and your videos are about this, the algorithm will do its best to get it infrastructure of those people. I wouldn't recommend spending 100% of your time on videos. But from personal experience I have found that spending significant time doing it has helped me become more productive in all parts of my life 😃
Thanks, I paid an experienced ferret wrangler to do it on her day off 👍
For the reason you describe, it becomes addictive. Especially Shorts. And it's also a skill that you can improve in. Nice advice 👌
Cheers dude. I would encourage everyone to start making videos 😀

It is a just a tv show...but the houses they are renovating are everything to the people who own them. They left the people with the kitchen for a little bit over $4K ! And they still have 6K over but not giving it to anyone to use. Dream Home Australia 2024
They get worse and worse each time they appear on camera 😂. Unfortunately they have well and truly lost sight of what the point of the show is. They also seem to have forgotten that the entire country is seeing their behaviour. What can you do?
Just found your channel, quality stuff man!

I'm curious to know who this one person is, is it me? I did mention before what kind of websites I do (WordPress). I haven't shared any client projects yet but will do once it's live, it's almost ready!
Ahhh nice, you're doing the project you were saying about before or is this a different one? I was talking about someone who mentioned they work for a company the other day, but I remember you said you work for a company a little while ago! Just out of interest, have you ever used Elementor for WordPress? I'm going to try it out soon.
@@codingoblin Yeah I've used Elementor and I am not a fan at all. It's a right mess when it comes to custom CSS.
Such a good point. There is a balance though, we do need to satiate our shiny object syndrome sometimes.
Shiny object syndrome is an absolute nightmare 😂
Absolutely. People think that any feelings of discomfort is bad, struggle is bad, feeling positive and happy is good. But not necessarily - the only way to grow is to experience discomfort. Valuable content thanks Mr Codingoblin. Did you get my email btw?
Definitely. And need to be willing to make mistakes! I can't see an email, did you send to info@codingoblin.com?
@@codingoblin I'll resend
Which episode and where can I stream? Also, do you live in Australia?
It's on 7plus, you can watch it on their website but I'm guessing you'll need a VPN if not in Australia - episode 8. Yeh I'm living here currently. You ever been?
@@codingoblin Thanks, will try to check it out. I've never been but my Dad has lots of crazy stories from when he grew up there.
Building a Health Assessment Application, working for a company. Have you ever used the tailwind UI combo box with Apine.js? I had a right nightmare trying to get the HTML version working, so much so that I decided to use a list of checkboxes instead.
Nice nice, you building that using symfony? I haven't used the combo box with Alpine. I've used it with Vue and it was fine. Thats one of the drawbacks of Tailwind UI, it can be annoying having to add your own javascript to the HTML components
@@codingoblin Yep Symfony. It's a shame they don't give you the javascript with the ui library. That would be my only criticism.
Yeh I agree 100%
Good lesson and it is a life long lesson to implement. For me, reputation is everything. If your reputation is tarnished, it can be hard to shake that off. Also props to you Mr @codingoblin, these videos take less time than editing but take a lot more skill to do in one shot!
Yep, a short term win at the detriment of losing long term is a loss overall. Thanks man. What's your favourite fish?
@@codingoblin Plaice. Arguably the most misunderstood fish in existence
Ahh Plaice. Forgot about Plaice!
I want to build open source version
Go for it mate. Let me know how you get on
😂😂😂The Intro. I had to replay that like 3 times.😅
If you could replay it 8 or 9 more times all the way through that would be great 👍
@codingoblin do you rate a good video based on the amount of views or likes?
I think a good video I judge off of my feeling towards the video. But in terms of whether I think it's been received well I base that off a combination of the amount of views, likes and watch time
The intros and editing are fun and entertaining but in all honesty I come here for the technical stuff. If you can provide value in the technical side of things then the entertainment side is just a bonus and I think you've done really well combining the 2. Regarding the technical side, I'd like to see more of a deep dive into TailwindCSS like using arbitrary values in different ways or creating custom plugins or adding custom classes in the config file etc. That's the kind of thing we do at work when building out more custom designs.
Cheers mate, good to hear! I'll be doing more Tailwind stuff in the near future so I'll make sure I cover those bits you mentioned 😀
All your intros are unique. I'd say the web developer with no design skills is my fave
Ah yeh that one's probably better than the strawberry one actually 😀
I primarily develop PHP Apps on symfony. I would say bootstrap is unbelievably quick to develop basic server side apps. Tailwind however is much more time consuming but looks really professional.
Nice. I need to take a closer look at Bootstrap as its been so long since I used it properly. I agree about the professional look of Tailwind - I especially find the latest version of Tailwind UI to look corporate
I believe it when a man says he will do unethical things for money, especially if he punches a squirrel (oh sorry, I meant wild ferret) for free. Also with the echo...I am sure you can edit that my friend, although the software would not do nearly as good a job as you did.

I was thinking of buying a ui kit. Which is better tailwind ui or flowbite? Which would you recommend assuming you have used/bought both? Or is there some other ui kit you recommend.
I've not used flowbite so can't comment on that. Tailwind UI is great, Tailkit also great (check my link in description 😉) - those 2 are the standouts from what I have personally used and I have the paid versions of both. What are you planning on using it with? React, Vue, HTML or something else? If you were planning on using it for HTML components i would go for Tailkit because their HTML components come with the required Alpine.js javascript. With Tailwind UI you need to add your own Alpine.js (or other javascript) to the HTML components. This isn't a huge undertaking but it is a bit annoying
@@codingoblin i mostly use react with nextjs so probably tailwind ui. Thanks for the reply ☺️
Tailwind UI will be great for you - they also have website templates built with nuxtjs 😀
ngl i thought you were going to do it all from scratch which was going to be extremely impressive. This is good too ❤ keep it up

I liked the way you talk while coding.😂 It makes me want to learn Vue somehow. As you said, they all do the same thing though, I wouldn't say they're the same. They have their own things you know, I will give vue a try soon, thanks for the video man
Haha cheers mate. Vue is great, but I'm sure they are all good (frontend frameworks that is!) 😃
I like Flowbite too. DaisyUI is nice too.
Yeh I like DaisyUI too - I still need to check out Flowbite 👊
How lucky am I, have twins,! That's a 2X productivity hack!
The more babies the more productive you will be. Guaranteed. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise 😃
Thanks very much, saved me a lot of time, very useful. Also not come across Alpine before but really like it for handling widget interactions.
You're welcome. Yes Alpine is great. Great for getting stuff done quickly!
Have you used tailwindui? How do you compare between the both? Thanks for the video
Yes I have used Tailwind UI a lot, its also very good. Right now I'm leaning towards preferring Tailkit because it has Alpine.js built into it for HTML components. Whereas (as of now) Tailwind UI requires you to add your own javascript to HTML components. But I can safely say both Tailwind UI and Tailkit are great 👍
@@codingoblin 👍 Thank you for the answer
i like how terribly awful that intro was
That took me 2 weeks to make and you tear it down like that. Not cool buddy. Not cool...
Thanks, its working fine. When refresh the page we get an error, its solved by adding .htaccess file inside public_html with the follwing content: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . index.html
Thanks for sharing this 🙂
Can you use DaisyUI for Wordpress sites?
Yes you can 🙂
Too bad there isnt a free option for tailkit
Yeh that would be nice. DaisyUI is a good free alternative 🙂
Tailkit looks great. Thanks for sharing. P.S. Killing it with all these sponsors lately!
Cheers mate 😀
I don't mind being stupid, but I've checked and copied the name into axios and my route. Locally, there's no problem, but in production, I have an issue. At first, I thought it was a case sensitivity problem, but no, it's fine. I don't understand why a single URL is causing me so much trouble.
Hmm thats annoying. Have you cleared cache?
@@codingoblin Alright, I'm officially an idiot... I hate these kinds of problems where you can't pinpoint the source. I cleared the cache, redeployed the site with git, and even purged Redis... nothing worked. I finally invalidated the PHPStorm cache, reindexed, did a build, pushed and pulled with git, cleared all caches again, restarted the server, and boom, it worked. I hate this because I didn't change anything in my code. Anyway, if this helps anyone else, it seems invalidating the PHPStorm cache solved the issue. Thanks for your video that made me look into PHPStorm and restart the server.
That sounds like a nightmare 😅. Glad you got it sorted!
