First shift at corporate Starbucks yesterday and second today. I already have watched many of your videos. You are spot on in my limited experience and have definitely helped me with shaping my perspective and being reality based. Armed with your advice I think I will have a blast while working my butt off. I am already a type A "bring it, that's all you got" person so we shall see. I am 68 and retired from advanced practice nursing a couple of years ago and find I need more life intensity and golf and woodworking are not enough. Thanks for all your vids!
@@Summergirl65 It is going very well. My trainer is very experienced and does a good job focusing on issues that I may need more time with. Seems like a thousand things to memorize but so far I am picking it up well. Best of luck on your interview!
@rrwjes I'm hired, and background check is in process! Look forward to your updates. What state are you in? It's definitely a bit nerve-wracking going in at a few months short of 60
@tammy5666 I'm loving SB's I had a great trainer and work the closing shift that even though it's a little more physically challenging than the morning or mid shift, it has allowed me to learn the barista skills at a little slower pace.
I'm currently working at a base as a barista and some of the wives and even the soldiers can be the most entitled people I have ever met just because they are military or their spouses rank
Girl I LOVE your videos!! Honestly I applied online a week ago and yesterday got a message about getting an interview… which was today😭 And I WAS SO NERVOUS! Like I watched your videos and did my best to prepare. It’s not my first job so it wasn’t too bad, but I was interviewed at the same time as another girl- with the same interviewer. It threw me off my game I’m not gonna lie😭 I walked in confident and bubbly, but then I kinda panicked. I was good about asking questions though, but I blanked when telling her about myself which was crazy haha. If I don’t hear back Thursday evening I’m going to call back and hopefully I’ll have an answer this weekend. I hope i get this job I could really use the benefits and going back to college online would be an incredible opportunity!
I remember during my internship at a hotel, I hated being assigned as a food server because not only am I an introvert but I was also scared I might not remember what the guests ordered or I may not speak straight or proper english to foreigners (cuz my english is terrible whenever I talk to foreigners face to face). But being there as a food server (for like a month and a week) helped me to conquer my fears and let out my extrovert side and I actually enjoyed it believe it or not and I was not expecting it actually. Yes, I made mistakes, and what I fear the most happened but I still managed to continue.
mine was a paper application lol, but i have the benefit of being rural and the luck of them just needing to fill a spot. i've worked there for 2 months now and love it, brilliant vibes and lovely staff and regulars. starbucks and costa baristas have strength beyond my comprehension tbh, and my advice would definitely be to apply to a mom n pop... sorry 😭in our busy rushes we are a well-oiled machine, but if someone asked for anything more complicated than a frappe i'd tell them they're getting a caramel latte or nothing lmao
Hey barista bestie, it’s been a long day today and seriously just watching this has made my day. Your energy is contagious. Fr I have had a HARD day and you are making me go to bed in a good mood. Luv ya! Have an amazing day! ❤
Be careful when coming in. Don't be rude. We had a kid come in every day at night and asked for the manager and every time we told him she only works in the mornings. Every time he got aggressive and said every time I come in you guys tell me she's not here. Sir that's because you keep coming in at 8pm!
Sooooo a normal coffee shop's macchiato is a starbucks espresso macchiato and they flipped what marks what when it comes to caramel macchiatos. I guess when they thought of a stain they thought of milk being stained with espresso 0.o starbucks is weird.
Make it really easy to read like a poster in a kindergarten class that should be the format if then make a summary of yourself should just be like 2-3 sentences then if it’s your first job list extracurricular in high school like sports or babysitting after school or even cleaning your house then on another side of the paper summarize skills it should only be a page long and don’t have it like listy remember you want a poster tale this wherever you wanna work and be consistent about going into the place
Current Starbucks trainer. The first day will be iPad training and observing customers and partners. Day 2 you start helping. It's not a week of training in the back. By the end of the week, you've learned several drinks.
Maybe at your store :) every store goes about it differently depending on the volume of that cafe. For example, my second store was the busiest in the entire district - therefore we had a more lengthy training program. I was also a Starbucks trainer.
@@StefaniaMarzelia Ehh. It was the training process directly from the iPad with the paperwork printed from Starbucks. There wasn't an option for busy or less busy stores for training. It's possible the training process may have changed since you were a trainer, or your store did their own training process. But the process directly from Starbucks in their only training module has baristas doing a module on a process, and then they're hands on with that process the rest of the day. With coffee tasting starting immediately.
3rd day of "being trained" today, and asked if I could shadow my trainer BC she hasn't shown me how to make drinks only expects me to already know how to make them..?...she outright said no and that if I can't learn after seeing one time, then quote " They the Company" can't help me as in I can't be trained...😢
Do Starbucks is and other coffee shops get really hot? I really wanna work at a coffee shop but I’m extremely sensitive to heat and have a medical condition where I can’t get overheated
Hi! Im currently a barista at the bux and also have sensitivity to the heat. The best I could say is that it depends on where you live. I live in a rather hot climate so our store can get pretty hot especially when the temps are above 90. There are other days where our store is extremely cold though. I would suggest discussing that with the store you are planning on working at or ask the baristas themselves!
In my experience it can get pretty warm, especially depending on where you’re stationed. The bars produce a good amount of heat and you’re going to be doing a decent amount of moving, running drinks to drive/cafe, going between hot and cold bev, ect. I run cold, but I can get pretty warm on bar, especially during peak or during rushes.
I don’t think Starbucks focuses on coffee because they don’t actually serve coffee anymore 😅 I’ve been going to Starbucks since 2001, and I’ve come to know their usuals pretty well. The last time I ordered a caramel macchiato I watched the barista grab a venti cup, open a small package, and pour some kind of powder into the cup (maybe it was prepackaged instant coffee, dried milk, and sugar?). Topped it off with hot water and THAT was the caramel macchiato. Guess what it tasted like? Other than water, it tasted like crap. Thankfully (selfishly), someone else was paying for my drink, but…yeah. I have never seen them make this drink that way beer - ever. Not a customer there anymore.
@@StefaniaMarzelia it was in Auburn, WA and it was a standalone. I have neeeeever seen them make a coffee of any sort like that before, but their quality has definitely gone down over the years. I certainly want small businesses to succeed, but, selfishly, this is also why I frequent “mom and pop” stands/stores - it seems like you just get a much better cup of coffee!
Im not even a barista but the interview and getting the interview are definitely tips im taking to my life! So smart!

How's it going? I'm 60, and my interview is tomorrow. I would love to hear how your training is going.

So glad Starbucks is employing people in our age group. I'm applying soon, wish me luck 🍀

Hey girl, your energy is so appreciated. I’ve put my fiancé on to your channel. Thanks for the tips!
Hi friend!! Thanks for being here 🥹❤
The worst Starbucks are on military installations. The staff are either family of a member that serve or served.
I didn't even know there were Starbucks on military installations haha
As a spouse who has lived near multiple bases, can confirm
What makes this the worst? Just curious considering I'm a military spouse barista.
@@aziaramirez3932 just personally experience dealing with them. Met a few great ones but most I've interacted with were bad

Finally someone shouts out Iowa 🤣. I totally did surprised Pikachu face when i heard the shout out.
Hyvee forever and always 😩
Very fun educational video for the beginner baristas!
the one on one talk video style is so good
is it??? I figured we’d test this style out versus what I normally do… I feel more natural this way 😅😅

100% on the communication. I’m a green bean and communication is such a huge part (perhaps the hugest part?) of the job.
Loved the Jewel shoutout! This is great advice for any job honestly!
We love Jewel!!!
Glad I watched this before I start next week. Learned a lot from this! Thank you Sensei!!!❤ just subscribed 😊
Love your videos and I do wonder how to actually take my coffee making game to the next level.

so if i ordered
venti strawberry crème frap with extra purée, java chips, double blended and lined with mocha … WOULD you kill me 😢
I work at Dunkin and the amount of walk in orders was crazy today.

They flipped stuff around for sure 😅
I worked at a Starbucks in albertsons for 4 months.
Do anyone know how to write a resume when applying for the first time as a first job for the Starbucks or something?? 🤔🤔
Hmmm, maybe I should make a video about this 🤔
Make it on canva website

A no-call, no-show is allowed to happen MORE THAN ONCE?
