I’m going to recommend this to my Nepali friends. I started listening to The Edge Band after my Nepali friend played their songs. I have no idea what they’re saying, but they sounded great! My fav song is “Nachahe ko Hoina”. Love from a Filipina 🇳🇵💙🇵🇭
That live performance from Nepathya was recorded in 2062 BS i.e. 2005 AD not in 70s.And Nepathya is folk rock band. Loving your reaction so far , still watching and writing this comment while watching.

Nepathya is ❤ for Nepal, I watched them on Wembley 2014 amoung 80k people… 70-80s they brought folk-rock to Nepal. The singer himself Amrit gurung along with his band considered the best of best…. ❤❤❤
Thank you for this reaction. Nepalese is closer to Hindi. They are derived from the same proto language called Sanskrit and also follow similar but not the same writing script. We also follow the same scale sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa. We have 12 vowels and 36 consonants roughly in our language. Training in singing is also quite similar to indian classical as far as I've seen with many practicing with a harmonium accompaniment. However that's only the case for nepali vha-sa (meaning language) which is the primary language. Most neplese people speak at least 3 languages. Usually Nepali, Hindi, English and one other mother toungue depending on their birth place/community.
It is bhasha (भाषा). There is a difference between v and bha. Nepali script is Devanagari, the same as Hindi and Sanskrit. Other than folk, Nepali music is Hindustani-based.
@@beatlietamang486 dude what copium are you smoking? Nepali and Hindi are very much cousin languages. We share the same origin and most of the vocabulary. Sorry for 2 long explanations. Reason for similarities in language on subcontinent is that these groups have been intermingling for thousand's of years. And the languages are part of same language family Indo-European who broke into at least 2 branches proto-European and Sanskrit. Sort like how Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, french have similar base structure & other things in common because are part of Romance Family (Rome/Latin based) & are 1st cousins. On subcontinent, you have 2 ancient language parents (Sanskrit and Dravidian) where the majority of the languages come from. Some intermarried with others like Urdu has a lots of Persian parts but I can understand a lot of it as I have passing knowledge of some Hindi. Nepalese is as if Sanskrit married to Tibet languages. So northern subcontinent languages are 1st & 2nd cousins with each other while they are 5th - 10thh cousins with European language and 3rd & 4th cousins with southern continental languages like Tamil, Telugu, Sinhalese. However Tamil, Telugu, Sinhalese are first cousins to each as they are derived from Dravidian - other ancient language of subcontinent. Also in late 90's I had a classmate who was from Nepal - she spoke like 6 different languages, her Hindi was flawless and I asked how she learned it - her response was Indian cinema as they grew up watching those in Nepal and southeast Asia. Also as Buddhism spread out of India into Southeast Asia so did it language - Even in Japan some of religious texts are in Sanskrit. So yeah - some derivative or combination of Sanskrit and Dravidian. Now one can see many languages there also are incorporating English after 250 years of British in India. Not giving up there languages but folding in new language. Base structure is same though. So when I look at it - I kinda treat languages & countries as people/families - most are related but some are more related than others. Also I see keep running across an issue in your videos from subcontinent - so here quick overview. -British forced out in 1947 after hundreds of years brutal rule. -Partition of India August 1947 based on religion versus cultural affiliation and long standing history in region - maps draw in 5 weeks by someone who had never there and would never back. -(East & West) Pakistan (West Pakistan is now Bangladesh) on Midnight Aug 14, 1947 -India Gained Independence at Midnight Aug 15, 1947 -2 states got broken in as part of Partition because they had largest group of people with different religions. Thus state of Punjab in both Pakistan & India and State of Bengal (India) and country of Bangladesh. -Largest forced human history - 10-15 million people (Numbers are very very fuzzy) -Between 1-2.5 million people killed mostly in Punjab and Bengal regions. (Numbers are very very fuzzy) -Super sad because we are Punjabi but grandfathers left Punjab prior to partition so we identify as Indian but really relatives from both side of border so technically both Indian and Pakistani origin?????

Rajesh Nepali grew up in a Church so his songs have that Choir vibe to it. But like you said he likes to experiment alot and his new projects are even more experimental. Saw him in a live show for the first time and been a fan ever since and he is STILL underrated in Nepal. Only recently he is getting invited to somewhat bigger shows.
I loved the fact that u caught that Nepali language sounded similar to hindi and Indonesian as nepali is derived from Sanskrit and so is hindi and Indonesian. So basically Sanskirt is the base language for all these three languages. And I felt like I was spoiled with these reactions cause usually we are used to getting one reaction at a time. Loved it. Hope to see more reaction from Nepal. I would recommend Arthur Gunn - nyano ghar or Save me now
Indonesian is not Sanskrit-based. It's an Austronesian language closer to Malay, Tagalog, and other Pacific islander languages..... although there are some Sanskrit words in Bahasa Indonesian but it's 98% different.
@@khelkud_Network_TV It is very much not. They have names derived from Sanskrit, not even South Indian Dravidian languages. Their language is from the same family as Austronesian/Polynesian languages like Tagalog, Hawaiian, Tongan, etc.
Here is the deal.. You south music sounds like india you go north sounds more towards tibetan but nepal has its own music so u will hear mixture of all the music which is quite unique to all .. Thats exactly what nepali food is too. But local.nepali.kusic is quite unique
Thank you so much guys 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵for supporting our music .. we should be thankful for them … slowly slowly our music is coming infront of the world …🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The second one was Nepathya who blends dying Nepalese folk songs and lyrics and blend them in rock/pop kind of vibe and convey them to the youths..this way the band has helped Nepalese folk melodies survive...they are legend.. they travel to the rural corners of Nepal and collect the lyrics and learn the original way of singing...
In Nepal people with 142 castes are present here And they speak 123 different languages ❤ Nepal is known as a single garden with different flowers 😊 And the guitar like instrument in Bipul Chhetri's song is Nepali instrument know as Sarangi 😊
You guys should do a reaction to Tribal Rain a freestyle experimental acoustic band who used to make Nepali music, but sadly the vocalist passed away a few years ago rip Rahul Rai 🕊
In my personal opinion. I think that you have to listen or cover up all the songs from the bands like Nepathya, Albatross ,Bipul Chettri and travelling band, 1974 AD which are pretty damn good and legendary.
I hear Rajesh Nepali for the first time. He is so so o good. I feel so bad, nepali people need to hear him if they think they are music lover. Thank you guys.. 👏👏🙏🙏
Rajesh Nepali used to have covers of queen songs and adele.... He would smash those covers with his vocals just he haven't released many songs of his own

If there's a Nepathya concert even today, people will scream enough to destroy their vocal cords and that song still makes everyone stand and sit rapidly ( that's the instruction in the end "uthyo" - stand up, "basyo" sit down) with the rhythm

Please listen to “Jaalma” from Resham Filili (audio only, video ruins the song). It’s a fun Nepali song with a touch of Nepali folk music and male female duet, which is very common.
Nischal is song title , the band is called The Albatross.

Love your work ❤️ Hope to see Telugu and Tamil podcast too!
Thank you for appreciation.. rajesh nepali is gem . His voice is something else. Like you said universe should know his voice ❤
@@sublime9525 lol it is similar to South indian languages ✅
@@khelkud_Network_TV It is very much not. They have names derived from Sanskrit, not even South Indian Dravidian languages. Their language is from the same family as Austronesian/Polynesian languages like Tagalog, Hawaiian, Tongan, etc.
Means a lot u guys r representing our Nepali songs to whole world thank u.❤️
I've been watching your channel for about a month now and I was not expecting Nepali music here. Thank you for this!!
They r legend of Nepal music and this guys are older but still active and popular in neoali rock music industry.

Here is the deal.. You south music sounds like india you go north sounds more towards tibetan but nepal has its own music so u will hear mixture of all the music which is quite unique to all .. Thats exactly what nepali food is too. But local.nepali.kusic is quite unique

Parelima by 1974 AD
Chitthi bhitta by Sajjan Raj Baidya
The second one was Nepathya who blends dying Nepalese folk songs and lyrics and blend them in rock/pop kind of vibe and convey them to the youths..this way the band has helped Nepalese folk melodies survive...they are legend.. they travel to the rural corners of Nepal and collect the lyrics and learn the original way of singing...
Thank you guys....love it ♥️♥️🙏

Being a Nepali i can bet that Nepali music has the best traditional music Globally.

I am from uttarakhand and I absolutely loved nepathya's song - Nainitala which I was able to relate to and the language is also similar to my native language- Garhwali
