Yours is beautiful. I just finished this one myself moments ago. I stress over it being perfect, but it turned out OK.."have fun with it" regarding grass, etc. So I did. Thank you for your tutorials!
We had a great time painting this! We did a group Zoom with family and friends, a safe way to have a lot of fun during this pandemic! We can't wait to try another one! Thank you Michelle!! :)
My sister and I painted this together via Zoom. It was SO much fun!! Thank you, Michelle, for being such a wonderful teacher. My sister and I have a motto: "If we can paint it, anyone can paint it!!" 🥰
This painting also turned amazing! Thank you, Michelle! After doing the beach sunset, I was able to do this sunset almost on my own, so I have really learned how to blend sunset sky. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am making a third one (the cliff freediver) to finish the sunset collection for my bedroom wall :)
Hi Sherrie, I certainly have. You can go to my channel and click on the playlist "Animals" and scroll through there to see all the bird tutorials. Have fun!
I watched your every painting tutorial, and l love and enjoy it You are an amazing teacher. Could you possible to do a Portland head light house painting tutorial? Thank you ❣️
Hi Fei, here are some links to a couple of lighthouses i did: th-cam.com/video/kv3DXH8K5SE/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/ymqXgRfuric/w-d-xo.html I hope you enjoy!
Hi Mary, Thanks for the compliment! This painting was created from my head... sorry, there is no photo reference for it. Time to tap into your imagination... have fun!
Hi PJ, No, I don't typically dampen my brush, but in this video I am using a student grade acrylic paint which tends to be very thin and flows very well as if there's a little water in it. You can use water, but it is a little dangerous because if you use too much, you can lift the paint right off of the canvas. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Have fun painting! ~Michelle
I’ve done two paintings before at a paint and sip. Would this be an appropriate 3rd try painting? Also I don’t have a filbert brush. I guess I need to get one???
Hi Jennifer, This would be a great third painting for you. No, you don't need a filbert brush for the background, you can just use any large wide brush. Thanks for watching and have fun painting! ~Michelle
Love this tutorial, I want to give it a try. I’m a newbie by about 6 months. the brushes you sell are they only the round? It’s all I see on your website
Hi Deanie, At the moment I only sell the rounds and the 1/2 inch flat bristle brush that I use in the videos. I'll be adding to the inventory soon... stay tuned! Have fun painting! ~Michelle
@@michellethepainter. thank you! What would you recommend for buying brushes ( brand) there are so many to choose from? I want some decent brushes, your tutorials are the best and I’m learning so much from you.
Hi Judi, You may be surprised to learn that I do not use "good" brushes... I just know how to use them to benefit me. I like to keep the cost down for my students, so I teach how to get good results with inexpensive products. I sell the brushes I use on my website (link below). Have fun painting! berkshirepaintandsip.squarespace.com/paint-supplies
Hi Chele, I buy all my canvases already primed. It’s easier for me considering how much I paint. You can certainly use a layer of acrylic gesso for additional adhesion but it’s really not necessary if your canvas is primed when purchased. Have fun painting!
Hi, I am astrid from Belgium. I love the way you explain , so it is easy to follow painting. I have a question, can I do these beautiful paintings with gouache paint?
Hi, Yes, you could certainly do these with guache, as it is a water based paint. The layering may be a little different, but I'd give it a try and see what happens. Have fun painting! ~Michelle
Looking at your paint it almost looks like you squirted out craft paint. When I am painting my paint doesn't go very far it breaks along the canvas yours looks very smooth and goes very far. Even when I mix a medium with it it's still kind of does it. I'm wondering if I should gesso my canvas a couple of times. I mean it is stretched and primed I bought them from hobby lobby. I don't understand why my paint is not acting like yours and it's very frustrating it's thick and it gets tacky really fast. When I squeeze it out it does not look like yours looks. It holds its shape.
Hi Missy, For these tutorials I'm using a thin bodied student grade paint from Blick Materials called Blickrylics. I sell small sample sizes of it on my website (link below) if you want to try it before you buy the larger bottles. Have fun painting! ~Michelle berkshirepaintandsip.squarespace.com/paint-supplies
How do you get the acrylic paint to go on so easy, my paint never does, I use a retarder fluid, still makes no difference, what paint can I buy In England that will be like your paint you use, please advise me. Annette.
I love painting with you, Michelle! I'm learning so much with every video!
Thank you so much!

Do you think I can apply how you paint but with color pencil
Hi Debbie, I think you would have to take a much different approach with layering of the colors, but you could certainly give it a try.
Michele, please please tell me what kind of brushes do you use... I’m a wannabe painter but I know that good brushes are all important..thank you! jmc
