Michelle, you are a phenomenal teacher. Using just your normal voice, no affectation, you are able to articulate everything--while your hand is so busy. Thank you for the detailed inspiration. God bless you. You are a generous soul.
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this! I am 64. I am a retired classical pianist. I have been disabled my entire life. Both my sisters are very accomplished artists. I took art in high school, and the art teacher had taught both my sisters. I have never told anyone, but she said to me one day, “you have more talent in art than both of your sisters combined!” That is something that is so nice to hear as a struggling disabled person! That art teacher had so much influence on my life. One thing I recall her saying about my work, “I liked it better yesterday!” So, I learned not to overwork things. I never did anything with art, after, but I can’t believe how much interest I have! I have been watching tutorials for a while, but never one this long! And u have my attention on every word! You have encouraged and inspired me so much! I’m going now to buy supplies! I can’t wait! I have subscribed and I can’t wait to begin! I stopped playing piano when I lost my son…. But who says I’m too old to start painting?! Thank you! Jen
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. As a mother myself, I cannot Imagin what you must have gone through. I am happy to hear that you are not letting your disability prevent you from following your passion to paint and I hope you can find some happiness in your newly found painting journey. Have a creative day!
Yesterday my 10 year old niece and I started this tutorial and I finished mine tonight. I absolutely love how you teach. My niece Caitlyn is learning to work slowly and pay attention from you. Her sipping drink of choice is chocolate milk.
Hi Michelle. I’m 71 years old and never painted in my life until last June. I’ve been watching your videos, which have helped me tremendously. Thank you for your detailed explanations.
Hi Michelle, this deer in winter is absolutely gorgeous. I love the snowy , cold, out of view look in the background. I started painting this yesterday. Today I started the deer and my son came in this evening and said, “Mom, I love it! This is my new favorite!” Your tutorials are the BEST!
Thank you so much Michelle. I added a frozen turquoise pond in the foreground and a crimson Cardinal sitting on top of a fore pine. My wife and her mother now have a new favorite :-)
I just love the way you show people how to paint, I have a friend who wanted to paint and she said she has two left hands but I showed her your paintings and she’s followed along and she just loves it so thank you very much. I hope you will do a Santa Claus I would like to do one for my granddaughter❤
Wow Nicole, thank you very much! This means a lot and is very much appreciated. Everything helps to keep my dream alive of painting and teaching! Happy Holidays!
Usually I watch you on my computer, but when I caught a glimpse of these spruces on a plasma, it took my breath away! They are totally authentic and magnificent. Thank you, Michelle! You bring a joy in our lives. I wish you the best!
I loved painting this!!!! 🌲🦌❄️🖼 My Deer in Winter was claimed before I even finished it!! Such a fun tutorial, I will definitely do another for myself. 😆 P.s. never in a milling years would I ever thought I could actually paint a deer! You made it easy. Thank you so much Michelle, you are an amazing instructor!🖌🎨💗
michelle i really love the way you use measurements in your paintings; you said it helps you to keep your focus; and at one point you mentioned ( in your equation ) so yes, i think it helps you to keep your geometrical perspective , distancing, and all of that . i adore your kind of painting; and love you more
Beautiful 🥰. I really admire your fantasy and enthusiasm with all your amazing paintings. I love taking out all my equipment and paint along with you🥀💚🥀. Thank you so much for your great teaching skills and for making this channel 😍😍
Wow Michelle, havent got confidence to get this deers face and chest like that. ......yet. had better get practising even with expert tuition. Amazing. You always do animal furs and feathers so well effortlessly. Thats what makes you the Fine Artist that you are. Will eatvh again andagain to.get a semblance of yours. Thanks so.much but feel defeated before I begin
Thanks so much for your videos. I painted this one with a friend and both of ours turned out beautiful! We love the way you instruct and your painting style. We're ready to learn more from your wonderful videos!
Thank you Michelle! I just found your videos less than month ago (this "Deer in Winter" one first). The deer intrigued me and drew me in. Before, I never painted animals. You have inspired, encouraged and taught me through each video. Not only animals, but other tips and techniques as well. Tonight, I viewed some of your website and am encouraged again about how your cancer journey led you to this incredible venture you are currently on. Thank you for what you do helping others. God bless!
I just love how the trees look all misty in the back and the darker front ones look so bold. The deer is so handsome...I wonder if he's looking for Father Christmas. Beautiful painting, Michelle you can feel the chill in the air. 🦌❄🌲
Michelle antlers ARE made of bone, like the parts of any animal skeleton. All antlered animals have a velvet phase when the immature antlers are covered with fine hair. The velvet phase facilitates the growth of the antlers by providing a blood supply to the growing bone. The velvet, a thin soft layer of skin and blood vessels that gets scraped off over time. Later in the year those antlers are making room for a new set to grow in. I hope this help you out? They are white tail deer. I use to deer hunt years ago.
@@michellethepainter. I'm so glad it did!! Most people don't realize that the antlers are made of bone. I didn't for a long time until I married my husband (the one who passed away). He knew everything about deer, he was an avid hunter. But he schooled me in all things about them. So I'm glad that it helped.
The main difference between horns and antlers is that horns are permanent and don't fall off, while antlers are shed and regrown annually: Shedding Antlers are shed and regrown each year, while horns are permanent and continue to grow throughout an animal's life. Growth Antlers grow from the tips, while horns grow from the base. Antlers are some of the fastest growing tissues in the animal kingdom. Composition Antlers are made of bone, while horns are made of a bony core covered in a keratin sheath. The keratin sheath is similar to the material in human hair and fingernails. Gender Antlers are usually found on male members of the deer, elk, and moose family, but some females can also grow them. Horns are found on both male and female sheep, goats, bison, and domestic cattle. Appearance Antlers are branched, while horns are unbranched. Age Horns appear earlier than antlers on young animals. For example, mountain goat kids have horns within a few weeks of birth, while antler buds appear months later. The pronghorn is an exception to the rules for horns and antlers. Pronghorns have a bone core covered in a keratin sheath that branches like an antler, but they also shed and regrow the sheath each year.
From realistic to whimsical Michelle you are so talented.I watch you faithfully because I enjoy how you are not afraid to laugh about yourself if you mess up a little. Love you and your painterly mind!!! Ha ha😊
Outstanding !! thanks a lot for breaking down the deer part with such elaboration. So far the best artist to follow to actually grasp the details of a painting.
Wow, I love this background!. And thank you so much for explaining how to get warm vs. cool greys and how to use them. I'm thinkin' I might paint this for my hubby for XMas as he feeds about 20 deer at our house daily, and one is a gorgeous buck! I love and watch you faithfully and I'm a patron. I've paid over $30 per painting class for years, and you give us so much more for a few bucks a month. Thanks Michelle, and keep going :)
This is such a sweet note, thank you for sharing your feelings with me! Your husband is going to love such a special gift from you. Thanks for watching and giving me such great compliments! Have fun painting, Michelle
Your trees when I saw you were using a large brush, I thought loudly, “How will you be able to see any detail using a large brush!!! No way she made those with a large brush!!” Well I was absolutely in awe of how masterfully you used the Large Brush so eloquently to add details to the trees and show branches in different directions with highlights of the snow!! That is why I am watching you and no one is watching me😁! You are truly great!! Thank you for teaching us!

Hi, I am just starting to hopefully get into painting with acrylics and have frankly watched many many people on TH-cam demonstrating painting for beginners. I don't normally comment on video's but felt I should with this one. Why? Well of all the people I have seen demonstrating acrylic painting for beginners, yours has been the most informative and helpful giving the learner a complete understanding in how to paint and mix colours. Whilst I cannot actually paint like you at least with your help I have a shot at painting something that wont actually turn out to be one giant blob on canvas. Well done and keep it up!
Oh wow..this is beautiful!!! This would make a great gift painting for those who love to hunt!! Or for those who just love winter nature. Thank you for this!!
