  • In this video, we'll have a look at a HP ProDesk G6 SFF. At first glance, the machine looks in good shape but that turns out quite a bit different after closer inspection. Will it be possible to save something from the machine? And why is there a GeForce GTX 980 involved at some point?

So does this mean that the HP motherboard standoff spacing is standard ATX, mATX,...? Or, did you need to modify somehow to fit inside the new case? Just wondering, since I'd like to do the reverse and drop a new mobo inside an HP prodesk 400 g6 sff.

The case and motherboard are not to any standard as far as I know. So re-using the case with a different motherboard is not an option and re-using the motherboard in a different case neither, unfortunately.

I'm so confused why you would not upgrade the 8GB to 16GB. 1 stick of DDR RAM runs at half speed.

I simply didn't have one at hand anymore when playing around with this. Dual channel indeed increases the performance but the difference is around 15-20% as far as I've tested, definitely doesn't run at half speed (fortunately).

@@jensdbe I understand the argument that you can just put the extra money into the CPU, and that it's just hard to sell the systems unless they're rock-bottom price, but my OCD... I just want to pull my hair out!
