I like the shop. I would definitely consider using a 2x6 for spanning that distance. The screws probably don’t have sheer strength enough to support that weight for my comfort, if I do this for my shop I’ll probably just spend a few dollars on some brackets. Don’t forget about fighting that natural crown on the bottom 2x4 looks like it was crowning down already and that didn’t help with the weight. You could mount a work light under that bottom rack as you might get some shadows on that bench now. Nice job.
Thanks for the input! After a few days of looking at it and actually added a few more braces here and there, I agree with you. I would definitely use different, stronger boards doing it again. The white pine 2x4 I used definitely has more deflection then I would like. The screws on the other hand, I’m not sure of the shear rating on them but I’m definitely more concerned of the wood splitting before the screws breaking, they’re fairly large which also increases the risk of the wood splitting. I plan to do a future video showing how well it has (or hasn’t) held up in the future but it terms of useful, it has helped me clean and declutter tremendously!
@@yardartracing it’s crazy how helpful a shelf or two can be at organizing!! Having to search for tools or parts is half the job sometimes. Yeah please do post an update down the road, feedback is great.
