    When I was a Kid back in the 70s I lived near a place called Dome Valley. There were about 30 of these types of Geodesic Domes across the Hill sides. As well as FreeForm Houses. Most of the Owners and Squatters were Hippies and grew Lots of weed back in the day. Brings back a lot of good memories. Crank up that Boom Box! The sound is really great in a Dome! Thanks foe sharing and stay safe out there.🙏🏻👍

Such a shame it is falling apart from not being maintained properly or maybe it was one of the kits that was diy’d by someone with limited knowledge of what they were doing. Although they are not the norm, there are a number of dome homes scattered around,,If done CORRECTLY they should last a very long time. The particular one in your video seems to have had a major foundation issue. Remibds me of the man who built his house on the sand.
    I know of one in Poncahatoula, LA. There are several along I 59 in MS/LA. On Pensacola beach, a dome home was the only home left in that area. I had seen the home the year before.. A friend lived in one along Hway 90 on the beach...unfortunately a hurricane got it and everything around it...There is one between my home and Hattiesburg off Hway 49.
    Little Farmer Brown rode out to feed his pet goat.

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      Surprised, i guess they are more popular than i initially thought but it probably also depends on the area. This one had a hole in the floor of the bathroom and you could see straight to the ground, so i don't the foundation was properly done. Thank you very much for the comment!!

    This place was cool. Must have been nice before it got to the state it’s in now.
    They call it Geodesic but I think it looks like a Yurt! It’s cool that’s for sure.
    It certainly is different. Doesn’t look like this kind of a place to live is popular.
    I like it but wouldn’t want to live in one. A Yurt would be nice to stay in on

      I wouldn't want to live in one of these either. It does have some similarities to a yurt in shape and they do seem to be more popular as like air BNBs or high end hotel rooms in remote areas. My understanding as to why they don't make pennies anymore is because they cost more to make than they are worth, so it really did make financial sense to get rid of them. Glad you enjoyed this one Irene and thanks a lot for the comment!!
