    THis is a lovely place. The wood tones are so warm and the little details charming. The styling of the newlpost match the door knobs. This is a lovely little Arts and Crafts house. Good explore.

    I like this farm house so much. Love the floor detailing . The windows nice too. Someone really put special thought to the details here. I would live there. I’m going to cry if it is going to be bulldozer. I wanted to add the cedar chest in the basement looks like a Hope Chest. It even had a lined drawer for silverware .

    That really was a beautiful house! All the wood furniture looked solidly made. I adored the chest in the basement! I also liked the kitchen, especially the salmon color. The staircase was well made. The doors were pretty awesome and I liked the leaded windows. Such a shame! A lot of the stuff could be donated, even the books. At least I didn’t notice any photos around, that really breaks my heart.

    Great find James! I liked this house. Loved the wood floors, doors - all of it! Maybe that blue room under construction had paneling before (?) Huge house and the basement shows how old it is. That bathroom that has herringbone pattern floor tiles (which were awesome). Only room I didn't like was the kitchen (gross). That cedar chest in the basement? So sad it's going to waste. You say HO-LY the same way I do 😅 The coffin haha

    Shame to see such a nice house left to rot. You don't see craftsmanship on floors like that often these days. Always makes me wonder when they leave so much personal stuff behind including the house itself. Also, sealed boiler that seemed to have water going to it still and the mismatched foundation walls, plus it being built on top of a well makes me wonder if this house is even older than it appears and/or it was built on top/expanded from an older house.

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They definitely had an addition, the back portion of the house, the big open room with the wood stove was newer. I believe they were on well water. I really don't know the age of the house TBH but my limited knowledge says probably early 1900s. The previous owners sold to another party and they have plans of the home/property but i don't know what they are yet. Thank you very much for the comment and glad you enjoyed it!!

    Really nice classic house. Would be amazing to restore it. Love all the woodwork and doors and some of the light fixtures. Nice big kitchen. Nice porch even with the orange carpet. Basement wasn’t even too creepy. I grew up in a house built in 1907 and some things seemed similar. What happens to the stuff left behind if a home is set for demolition. Does someone rescue such things I wonder. It’s such a shame to lose history whether it’s a home or the things left behind. Thanks for a great explore!

    • @StaticSpaces

  • @gentillydanny
    @gentillydanny ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You never fail to please your fans. Plenty of great wood to be salvaged although the house seems to be in good structural shape. That style of rough plaster is not uncommon here but I've never seen it in a kitchen, especially on the ceiling. The way it is used in New Orleans is slightly different. It's not nearly as rough since it's smoothed down to where it's merely textured. You can be sure that kitchen drank gallons of paint and it must've been a pure nightmare to paint without dripping down just everywhere.

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The textured ceilings are far more common here than this type of finishing. Yup, i can only imagine trying to repaint that, what a nightmare!! Glad you enjoyed it Dan and thanks a lot for the comment!!

    OH WOW MAN I’ve GOTTA STOP the video..I LOVE that MUSIC WHAT the NAME of the tune and WHO is IT ? I’m SO VERY MUCH ENJOYING this video and then you throw that AWESOME music in there ! It literally brought tears to my eyes ! EVERY comment you made up to now I agree with … but one thing I would have wanted to liked would have been a beveled glass door at the entrance be it to match the ones in the house or one full pane which I HAD in my first house I owned ( for nearly 30 years … it was a duplex so both sides had them but RIGHT after I sold it some trashing brain person came a TOOK BOTH of them now the house has sold wood doors … I DESPISE THIEVES and VANDALS especially of houses 😡 that room with the midway repair was a actually NICE I could see myself living with it looking like that , I can’t imagine a room having THAT MANY nails and seams to be covered I sorta think they started patching and then just went with the look as a design ( I could be wrong ) …. I normally pass up farm houses but the exterior was interesting from from the pictures and the I saw it was covered by you so I HAD to watch and haven’t been disappointed AT ALL .. yeah odd that the room reminder tape piece ms were on the furniture but yet it looked like they were in the mist of moving out leaving some VERY NICE FURNITURE PIECES behind … in what looked like a WELL lived in house ( hope they weren’t PUT OUT ! That’s what it looks like ! ( sorry for writing SO MUCH ) but your videos are SO WELL choreographed ! hope that’s music that can be purchased !

      Not entirely sure but was probably bought for the land so that it can be redeveloped, so most likely demolition. Thanks a lot for the comment!!

    That dust is "smoker's dust," and it's also caused from wood burning fireplaces.

      Yup for sure, they had a wood fireplace in the one room so i think that could have been it. I didn't see any yellowing walls though so i don't get the impression it was smoke damage. Thanks a lot for the comments!!

    You think a room temperature of 72° is...."hot"? Normal room temperatures are anywhere from 68° to 75°, just fyi

      I know, but can you imagine the heating costs to keep room temp at 72 in the winter? IDK, maybe it's warmer where you are and gas is cheaper but here it costs an arm and a leg. 😂 72 is fine in the summer i guess but i usually keep it around 74-76

      @@StaticSpaces I've always kept my thermostat set at 72 in the cold winter; at night, I turn it down to 68. I used to turn it down to 62 at night, but when you get up the next day and turn it back up because the house is noticeably cold, the heating system has to work a lot longer to bring it up to a comfortable temperature, SO....any money you might have saved by moving it to 62° or lower is eaten up when you have to let the system run extra long to bring the temperature up. For me, 68 is just too damned chilly when you're up and about; 72° is actually considered an ideal room temperature for winter, while 75° seems to work best for central A/C in the hot, humid, miserable summer because all you really want to do is to remove the moisture from the air, and that right there makes it feel much cooler than outside. Idk...I do HVAC as a side hustle, and this is what I've noticed most people here in the U.S. do with their temperature settings throughout the different seasons, and I actually use the same settings in my house as well. I would think it gets much colder up in Canada; fishing trips up there during the summer months do feel cooler than our hot summers here, but with climate change, it's all over the place. Yes, natural gas, oil, electric, it's ALL EXHORBITANT to pay for, but for as short as life here on this planet is, I'm going to COMFORTABLE, damn it, lol. There are energy assistance programs here for those who can't afford a liveable temperature at home.

      Honestly we have very similar ideas on room temperatures in both seasons. If i could keep it at 72 in the winter i would but u fortunately we have Trudeau as a PM and he likes to make things more expensive with his policies. My gas bill has almost doubled compared to last year which hits hard. I hate being cold but the alternative is worse. It does get colder here compared to a lot of US too which doesn't help. We u fortunately do not have a heating subsidy here though either. That's cool though that you do HVAC as a side hustle would save you a bit of money when repairs arise.
      And you are spot on about just cutting the humidity inside with AC, i do the same but everytime i go to another home or the grocery store i am freezing 😂
