7:55 those hooks are mustad brand hooks, the series or model is "hoodlum" very popular and come stock in several jigs in and around America. they are actually live bait hooks
I was looking over all the hook options I had at my local tackle store for making my own assist hooks. I ended up with mustad hoodlum live bait hooks. These were the closest to the BKK sea ranger premade packet I could find. Comes in handy as I can rig some live baits as well. I will be tieing some uv flashing and blinging them out as well 👌.
Hi again Mr. Kit This video was very helpful to me because I'm one of the guys you're talking about not available in my area special hooks for jigs except in large sizes and it's not work for me I fish with jigs from 10 to 40.g And you opened my mind to what I can use from what available in my area And I have a request from you when you have a time, please make video talking about The different between design of hooks like iseama, chinu... Etc they are confusing me. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge with us 🙏
the iseama and chinu hooks are very closely related. Chinu are more versatile in my opinion, but both can be used for jigging purposes. In fact, VMC markets smaller assist hooks using chinus.
@@TheFishingKit Thanks for answering and It' good news because the local shops have a mustad iseama, chinu And i will asked for vmc to start with I ordered earlier a bunch of jk jigging hooks from aliexpress but I'm still waiting for it Thanks a lot for your help Mr. Kit 🙏
Yes, first time i did this was around december 2006 on fast jigging assist hooks - i did find success catching fish on them, however, this was marginal at best - they are not as good as J hooks. Snags are a reality of this game - it is one of the risk factors - to lessen snags try using single hooks instead of tandems
@TheFishingKit Got it. But what do you think about casting shore jigs like 20-40g ? If it's make sense to avoid snagging? And most concerned if it's still effective hooking the fish as j hooks ?
as always, thankyou for making such a great instructional video. Nige from Sydney, Australia
You are very welcome

I suppose, then they just repacked it...but there is also a chance they are copies from China.

Hi Kit! Have you ever used circle hooks as assist? I'm wondering if they get snagged less on the bottom and still good to actually hook the fish

It will catch fish but wont really reduce snags its not the hooks that get
Snagged its the jigs themselves
@TheFishingKit Well I hadn't thought of that one. You right
What is the name of the tool you use to pull on the hooks to test them? Where is it available?
I think its not sold anymore. It was from angler support system - hook puller.
10:43 that is a stinger rig for king mackerell or barracuda, not a treble assist hook.
I wouldn't argue with Owner - they had it written in the pack.
So who is making the best assist hooks? (Brand and model number if somebody knows will be nice). Thank you.
best ones are the ones you make yourself.
