Hi TDoo thanks so much!!!! first ever super thanks for me!!!! Actually, not really. This is pretty standard. The knot slips if you do it on hooks without eyes. And you only ever pass the hook through the line with spade heads not with eyed hooks.

Hi Kit, I'm shopping for a rotating fly tying vise but most are rated up to size 4/0 hooks. Any recommendations on a brand that can handle larger hook sizes? Thanks
Thanks for the great info ! I have a question whats the name of the blue tool whit the 3 stubs you use to put the hook and pull tension on the line ? Never see one like that one and would like to get one thx.
@@TheFishingKit thanks, I'll try the valley hill one. I need to go to Japan to do some shopping haha. Would your recommend the valley hill in the stonfo elite for tying assist hooks? Good Video. Can you please tell me what is the proper name/ of the needle you used. I looked for ''cultiva splice needle etc. and I didnt have any luck. Is there a model number you could share ? Thank you
Thank you sir. Do you like this one best for splicing assist cord or is there a latch needle that is better suited for assist cord ? You can use any vise. I just happen to tie flies a lot before and my main vise was a montana mongoose. Just make sure it is able to hold the hooks you want to tie securely.
@@danielchong2234 it depends on the size of the hooks and jigs, you are going to use right? are you going to use 1000g? 1500? or 10g and below? The only person that can answer this question for you is?

Hello, great tutorial! Can you please help with a couple questions. At 4:23, what kind of threading needle is that and do you know where I can buy? Also what fly tying hook clamp is that? Thanks in advance!
it is a threading needle from OWNER. the vise is a montana mongoose from Grifin enterprises - might not be practical for just tying assist hooks, but since I tied flies in the past, I invested on it.
I'm a little confused on another video where you were discussing assist hooks you mentioned that for these kinds of hooks you should wrap the cord/Kevlar at the bottom part of hook shank. However in this video you wrapped on the top part.
@@TheFishingKit in the other video the hook had a spade head. You were discussing why wrapping of the cord should always be on the bottom section of the shank. It was your video where u were taking about assist hooks in general - Assist hooks what you need to know - I left a comment there too mate.
@@TheFishingKit in this video yes, in the assist hook video I think it was a factory tied spade hook you were discussing. Maybe go check out the comment I left on that video. I just want to know which would be a better method of cording the hook.
@@sanjeevvadaketh5620 I knew what you were talking about - but I'm pointing out why. There are several ways to do things. The most important point is that the assist cord that pulls on the hook should be on the side where the barb is - since it is the point that dictates the point where the origin on your pull comes from - putting it on top will direct it upwards and away from flesh - it doesn't mean you won't catch fish if you put the tow point origin on top, just that you will miss a lot more.
thats just for fly tying...you dont need anything fancy just the right jaws to hold the hooks you want. That one in particular is the cheapest Griffin vise.
Hello, where can I find this clamp for the construction of assist hooks I use BKK hooks of 3/0 ~ 4/0 ~ 5/0 can you give me some help. I usually use a pressure pliers and so I always have one hand busy holding the pliers tight, and it's not nice.
