1. check your 7 segment (common anode or cathode?) and use new IC 2. check you point thats should be common. 3. connection from IC to display reconnect

Ramram,Nemeste. Aap ka explanation behut accha hai. Yeh 7-Segment display jo aap use karte hai, iska pin no. 3 aur 8 intern connect hain. Aap resistance sabd use karte this wrong, this must be resistor. Resistance aur resistor mein differance hai? Resistor woh hai jo aap DEKH aur CHU sakte hai. Restance aap srif MEASURE kar sakte hai. Capacitor aur capacitance ki liye bhi yeh lagu hai. Capacitor ek cheez hoti hai.

it is possible to make BCD to 7 segment using 7400 but it would be quite complex , I think nearly 11 IC would be required

IC can be damaged due to voltage fluctuations and one of the other reasons is connecting wires' impedance and resistance is large
