It's nice to see that a classic car will be daily driven again. It's what they were born for. I keep chugging along with my project 69 Firebird, getting rid of the rust one chunk at a time. I wish I was as fast as you are at it. I have a hard time finding budget friendly parts, realistically everything I do to it makes it better, although with what i started with and my budget it'll never be the best it can be. You inspire me to keep going and make daily progress.
i would die to have even a ratty 69 firebird... i had a horribly rusty 55 chev 4 door and got rid of it long before i learned of this magic(4dr into 2dr) then i had a ratty 2 door 72 chevelle ,rusty body, rusty cracked frame and got rid of it too....now i want them all back.im stuck with a mid 80s trans am that ive done to the tits.its fast, its fun,its almost pretty...i still want something older though
Love the idea of this as a winter car. I spent my high school years in Minnedosa (Manitoba) in the late 70s. In DECEMBER (for you 'Mericans, think COLD AND SNOW) I went past a store to see a MOTORCYCLE parked in front of the store! It was an enduro bike (250 or 400 Yamaha) and the owner had pulled the tires off and run either nails or screws through from the inside (these tires had tubes, no leaks) and was riding this thing around in DECEMBER! I can't even imagine the wind chill!!!!!!
Two open cans of BrakeKleen, two open cans of CosbySauce, an empty roll of towels and a fire extinguisher from 1995. That PrincessAuto magnetic shelf is a glimpse of life at the ol' DD Speed Shop. Love it!
It sounds WICKED! Dan I'm an OG with long hair like you. When you're under a car tie your hair back bro! It saves a lot of time, and hair. Just some friendly advice from Wyoming Ron! Hey Dan, I feel your pain with the creeper and hair. I've been there many times. I found that if you put your hair in a ponytail, it rarely gets caught up. I'm 64 and still have my hair as long as your. Maybe not as much hair, thin on top, but still long. Love the black widow car and how fast you got it together. Next video I bet she'll go for her first ride. Take care and be safe.

Seeing you get stuck on the creeper with your long hair reminded me of my High School Auto shop days. This happened a few times lol. Digging this build Dan.
I daily drove a 57 post car with a 283, 4 bbl, and 4 speed back in the 80's. It was orange and white factory paint, no rust, bought it for a grand. I put the 4 bbl and intake on it, sway bars off a Ford station wagon, and 275/50-15's all around with mags. It was a fun car, and always got a lot of looks when I showed up on the construction site with it.
Hair ties , bro ! Been there , done that ! Pony tails go inside the T shirt . Progress ! Lights all worky-worky ! Rev limiter , working ! You're right , she's a sharp looking car now ! Getting there , Dan . Keep giving it , I bet you'll be driving her before the snow flies ! Knarly Dude !
Man, you really put a heap of work into getting everything buttoned up on these builds but the payoff is awesome. Saving, then driving them must be very satisfying. It is easy to see you put your heart into these rebuilds and exercise your creativity while doing so. Best wishes.
Car is coming along great! when I was younger I had long hair and ran over my hair and got it caught up in the wheels of my creeper more times than I care to remember! I can relate! the worst thing I ever saw happen with hair getting caught up was a fellow mechanic was using an air drill trying to cool off with the air coming out the exhaust when the chuck caught his hair and rolled it up to his scalp before he could think and release the trigger, they had to cut a big hunk of hair off to get him free'd up.
It's getting close Dan. You've been giving it hard. I love the rev limiter sounds like a race car. Also man open your hat as big as you can on the back, stuff all that hair up in there. My buddy had long hair back in the day and would put it up in his hat when he was working on cars. We never knew for the longest time he had that long of hair. Later man keep it cool✌
Looking good, alot work. When you're done cut up another 4dr and make a El Camino. Keep the front doors, move the back glass forward, use window frames off back doors. I think it be a good project and I know you would make it look cool.
Thanks for the entertainment - You've oaught that mop on fire - tried glue for a conditioner and now wrap it up in the creeper wheel - What's left to try? - maybe a nice color streak with wet paint - I don't know but I'll stay tuned as I'm sure you won't let us down --LOL
Hell yeah, I always did like the 150’s better than the regular 57’s , I don’t know, it’s just something about them. And that being a Black Widow tribute or whatever, makes it that much cooler!
Ouch! I feel your hair pain. I had the same thing happen. That's when I decided the ponytail had to go. It's a lot easier to roll around under the car now. Making great progress. Love this project! :-)
Long hair in the creeper - I can relate. Long have I learned to put everything in a hat. So last week I got a chunk of my arm caught in a creeper wheel, and did not know which way to move to get it out.
Dang i miss the days of buying 4 packs of 1157 bulbs and having extras to carry in the glove box . So Dan. Back in the 60tys. Tri 5s were a dime a dozen. All my friends had one. That license plate light was the biggest problem thay never worked a ticket every time 👍🏻😎
I also have long hair. My solution is to do a single braid and then wind it up in a bun before I work on anything, (getting one's hair caught in a running valve train will make you do that). I also have a long beard, and since I work on my lathes and near turning fan blades, I net up my beard 'cos I'd kind like to keep my face where it is. Black Widow coming along nicely.
