First thanks for all the great help and stuff i have learned from you. My question is, i fertilized my potted Maples with Holly Tone 4-3-4 at the first of June when you did, i only applied it lite do i need to apply more now or was that enough until next spring ?
Great video, Dereck! I’ll Definitely be investing in a small bag of this for my potted and planted maples. Question on your Strawberry Spring, how much sun is it getting and is this one that can get up to direct midday ? I’m in 8a (central AL). I’ve wanted to pull the trigger on this one for so long, but I’m extremely limited on full shade/part sun locations around my yard.
thanks Derick! This was helpful. I have used Holly Tone on hollys but not maples. Will try it. While you were working I noticed a large tree with a double graft.. I have never seen that before!! You have some cool trees .. Stay nutty.
Derek, I fertilized my potted maples with Holly Tone 4-3-4 at the same time as you did yours but i did it lightly , should i apply it again now or wait until next spring ? Thanks for all the great videos i have learned so much from you.
I use an old plastic measuring scoop (1/2 cup - ish) to scoop out the Hollytone and apply to the base of the plants, no touching necessary - also I think this contains bones? My dog is very attracted to it, will try to lick it - she has gotten REALLY sick from that so heads up everyone, I have to really water it in then put mulch on top to keep her from eating eating it 🤢
Hey, can I (should I?) fertilize them this month, when the temperatures range from 100 in the day to 75 at nights? Autumn colds are really far (mid-end November) so boosting new growth is not an issue, I'm only concerned about the current temperatures, does fertilizing in 100F hurt the trees or shouldn't be a problem? All my trees are currently under shade btw, only 2-3 hrs of sun to avoid scorching. Thanks and greetings from Greece!
You can feed them any time between april and September. You need to be aware of the type of feet you are using thou. You don’t want to use a 6 month slow release on September because you might have some problems during winter.
@@MapleNutz Thanks! Makes sense, I am using a 4-5-4 with a 1-month release and I'm also adding a bit less dose than the instructions (I'm too scared as a beginner...) So far trees look fine! Cheers!!
I stop in July/August. It all depends on what you give your tree. There’s 30 day fert, 45 days, 90 days or even 180 days. I start fert on near may 1st and it doesn’t make any sense to stop on may because im just getting started. Each zone is different thou.
I keep this on hands. Good to know I can use it on the Japanese maples too. Thank you.
You’re welcome 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is a great product
It sure is my friend. Totally recommend it for outdoor plants

Mine is getting full sun right now in zone 8a. I testing it for sun tolerance and is handling it like a champ so far.
Save some for my fiddle fig
Aquí tengo mucho mi amor.

You don’t have to but you can

Thanks for pointing that out. I don’t have pets so I really don’t know about that. ✌🏻🍁🥜

Avoid high P on fertilizer.
Always heard to stop fertilizing by end of May. I’m in zone 8A, when do you feel fertilizing should stop?
