I use for these purposes Pelican 1040 case. It's made from polycarbonate plastic and is fully transparent, bottom has rubber base. Of course, case is waterproof and tough usable. It works excellent on my motorbike about 5 years and 60'000 km.
I like that the video is not telling us "this is how you must do it". Instead, using readily available tools and materials, this shows how you can re-use and engineer existing materials to get a good outcome. Beats just buying more and more plastic crap from China.
beautifully done!!! There's not one product as good as what you've done that too DIY! You should Sell these online! Btw I can't find any boxes when I search for fishing box, can you suggest what to search for online to get a box like that
Thanks I bought a 7" tablet and upsized the box. I had abit of trouble with phone overheating so added some micro fans to blow air in. That's when I swapped to tablet

It was fine but I did put a vent in the bottom to let heat out. Phone was getting warm on maps. I have recently made another this time with a 7 inch tablet works great
@@peterwoollard288 you can see it on this video mate. Basically made the same. Just a bigger box witch was clear plastic and I spray painted out all except the screen area th-cam.com/video/s4yiKJE1ikI/w-d-xo.html
Very clever but looks unaesthetic and the size is far to big imo. Guys, just bought used Givi gps holder, fully waterproof for $15 and for another $20 a tomtom device with a free lifetime map update. Decision is up to you.
@@WulfOnTheRun but then, it will not be waterproof anymore (?). I dont know. i am thinking about making one, but with stainless steel body, instead. which will act as a heat sink. no hole needed

Thanks, I've been having trouble finding a box keyworded "Tackle box" these pelican cases seem like exactly what I need. But they're expensive af
Fantastic DIY. I've got an old pelican that I've just repurposed. It's quite deep but there will be room for bike papers, a small derringer etc..
Thanks Dan. I like the idea of having a gun in there too..lol
Yeah, here's the key, title , my Android and woops boom

Thanks John 👍👍
I built one using a ‘survival box’ - fiver off amazon. Downloaded cali moto. Tomorrow we ride!
Great stuff.. 👍👍
Nice! Best value-for-money!
Just avoid hot glue, it's for indoor use only and work best on wood, papier, etc. Maybe simple silicon is better.

Nice.. but, is it friendly use in tropical place like mine here in Indonesia?
Yes. But i recently put some updraft vents on the back to let cool air in to stop phone overheating
Brilliant. Any add on since

How did you weatherproof the charging cable opening?
Just silicone
nice! Very inventive.
Do you trust the hot glue? I have some failures using it and am hesitant.
I only used it to hold in place then screwed through. I agree wouldnt rely on it 👍👍
Hi, could you tell me which case you used? I have a smartphone measuring 18 cm x 9 cm, can you help me? Thanks
Hi this is the one i got of ebay. But they have many more in different sizes. Type in fly fishing box...
