- Our journey down south after lockdown. We give you a look at our well researched 14 day travel from some local kiwis who love the great outdoors.
The South Islands all about the scenary and the winter time is when those snow capped mountains are out in all their glory.
We were pretty fortunate to have such great weather while we travelled especially seeing the hoar frosts in central Otago.

Thanks man. What we like is how diverse but close things are. With an hours drive you can be in a completely different landscape.

Yea it was really cold nice having the heater pumping full time lol... Definitely could have done with more hot pools... Hope the baker Whanau (family) are doing well. 😆😁👍

All the way from Ohio even, thats great! Have you travelled to New Zealand before or plan too? We sure did see a lot in those 14 days. But missed so much as well. We are planning to take a year of travelling all over the south Island nice and slowly.

They are amazing, we capture a lot for a small country, so much diversity in our landscapes.

Awesome video! How cold was it in the campervan over night? Any issues with heating etc?
Hey there, we were actually pretty warm. We had some really cold weather frost wise. The heater only went on or off so no way we could see to turn it up or down, but it was definitely enough. Are you going on a trip soon?
Hey, thanks for the amazing video. May I know which month did you go? And do we need snow chains?
Hey there, we were here in the middle of winter early July this is about as cold as it gets, you will not need chains in New Zealand unless you want to go up to the ski fields which are very high up, then chains are normally required after fresh snow fall, otherwise you will have no issues.

Hey there. No southern lights for us. The roads were fine and safe for driving on. It's a very pretty time of the year to travel
May I ask how the weather was to tour trip? I am going in early June this year too 😂 Definitely I expect lots of snow or still a lil yellow color from late Autumn …

Hey we were in the july school holidays 2022 so around the 7th July I think it was.
Hello i am planning visit in July2022. My trip is Chch-arthurpass-franz josep-haast-wanaka-tekapo-chch. I want to know what would be the weather like in mid of july. I have planned to hire aqua hybrid, do u think i need chain on tyres for driving on road. Will i have any problem driving toyota aqua on this itenary. I think you are best person to advise since you stay in west coast.
Hey we actually are from Rotorua in the North Island, but yes you will be fine on the road in any vehicle. Snow chains are generally required when you go up to a ski field which is up the mountain... There can be low snow fall in July, but the roads would likely be cleared of snow in a day or 2 of it were to snow.
