  • Theron seems like a bad fit for an Alliance that rejoins the Empire. Why does he stay? Should he leave?

Theron (and Lana) seem to value their loyalty and trust in the Commander more then their loyalty to their original faction. I don't think Theron from Yavin 4 or Ziost times would've been ok with working with the Empire, but a lot has changed since then. He saw the Republic fail its people more than once, and he now trusts the Commander to make the right choices. Remember, in the traitor's arc, in one of the outcomes he pretty much has to sacrifice his father's life to protect the Alliance (he is the one who lured both factions there), I don't think he could just leave back to the Republic after having to do that. He is still a good person, or at least he wants to believe he is one, so if you allow to bomb Corellia, he gets rightfully angry and upset. He is certainly conflicted about his new affiliation with the Empire, and I think this makes for an interesting character. Perhaps they will allow to us to push him further, do acts that will make him question his loyalty, maybe even make him quit. I think this could be an interesting way for the story to go.

I would also add that while he says that the Republic is a safer bet on Iokath there are numerous points in the story where he shows quite clearly he is right there with Aric Jorgan in the whole “this is not the Republic I signed up for”
You’ll note how he approves of both options of dealing with Saresh in Eteranl Throne Chapter 2 even killing her in cold blood
Sure he might still prefer the Republic but having fought alongisde Sith and Imperials in the alliance having seen the REpublic devolve while the Empire evolved, despite still being well, the Empire he see’s change is possible and combined with your own speculation about Malcolm and it could make quite a bit of sense

I think you have a massive point. Jorgan and Theron have shown themselves to be a level of disillusioned with the Republic. It could be argued that while they hold the ideals of the Republic they don't see the Republic as stewards of what they were led to believe. Plus, let's also not paint him as a saint. He's got a bit a dark side to him himself and I always get the vibe he just tries hard to keep it in check since he pulls some incredibly ruthless stuff. Plus even if he disliked Marr, Marr showed that Sith can actually be incredibly pragmatic. I think it comes down to do you join back with a corrupt Republic or a Commander who got things done when nobody else did and even if the Commander is Sith, they operate in a way the Old Empire did not.

@@sagexalcen4708 exactly, between having seen the Empire already change for the better and even if they are pure dark side the Commander still gets things done and is willing to work with the Alliance, let alone if you play any other way like a pragmatist who agrees whole heartedly with Acina,

Eh, I main a LS Warrior and his loyalty to the Alliance and later an Acina-lead Empire always felt natural to me. He was disillusioned with the Republic as early as Ziost, and you could see that disillusionment grow as time went on with the following expansions. Him bonding with a light-leaning Imperial and Lana just felt like an organic evolution of his character to me

Hmm I also think that our character if you play a Force user, have the biggest chance to take over the empire as emperor/empress. With that plan Theron could think you the player could create pace.

    It makes sense if
    1)PC romanced Theron
2)PC is light side or neutral as then the PC can be reasoned with and are not murderous maniacs
3)PC is dark side then, Theron knows PC is the most powerful person in the galaxy witnessing Pc's might first hand so he knows,he can't defeat him in open battle, but since PC allowed him to live and stay after the traiter arc, PC has some bond with him and Theron's word will affect the actions of PC
4)Theron saw first-hand the incompetent nature of the Republic (as they refuse to participate in the war against Zakul, unlike Empire), The power-hungry politicians like Saresh (a trait commonly associated with the Sith)
5)Theron values the +ve changes happening in the Empire and the reforms brought in by Empress Acina
6)Theron understands that there has been a shift in Galatic power since the loss of Eternal Fleet and PC can't control each aspect of the war

You guys looking to much into this. Make anything more with Theron is gona be a lot of work. And bioware dont do that anymore and i doubt that this new third party will.
Even if i look past that: They let players kill him, meaing that he will be mostly/compliatly irrelevant to very death of the game.

And that is why, even though it broke my heart… I let him die at the end of the darkness on umbara arc. Even though he had a good relationship with my DS sith warriorI understood and know it’s only a matter of time before he could no longer stand the empires tactics. Im glad it ended that way. But I think having to choose to kill him would have been an excellent choice to give the player insted of just leaving him to die.

Yeah... that's pretty much why I pick to kill him on my Empire aligned characters... it just doesn't make sense for him to stay

Let's be real since theron already betrayed us anyway during the zildrog thing, the typical dark side player character would have killed him anyway.
So in case you somehow let him live I can understand that he will suddenly be more devoted to you personally. Which dark side player would actually let him live is the real question

I've seen several people say they kept him with even their very Dark Side character for one reason or another. Apart from that though, he'll stay by default if you skip the Traitor Arc.

@@ckoutpost Makes sense he would stay if you skip. But I'm so happy you can kill your companions cause not being able to kill Malavi Quinn was so out of character for Sith
