why does no one point out or realise that kash is literally a predator. ian is a full Child and he’s a grown adult with kids and a wife. he’s also his boss so even if ian wasn’t a kid, there’s still a fcked up power dynamic
Oh, totally. But I'm glad it didn't last long and that Ian wasn't like "Oh, but I love him" or something like that, not that I remember well everythin. And also, it is a fvcked up situation, but it's realistic. There are places in America, or in my coutry, in which things like that happen, it's not right at all, but it's realistic and that fvcked up story line(?) helps to open the conversation on why it is wrong in so many levels.
edit: okay i just heard what ian said... but... again, it's fvcked up but it's the answer of a kid like him...
Ikr they never talk about it and it has happened multiple times like Ian was groomed Debbie was groomed and Carl was groomed lip had sex with and adult women and no one ever talks about it they talked about Ian being groomed like once one of the things I didn't like about this show ( I haven't even finished)😭

NO SPOILER! What bothered me about the first season about Ian and kash relationship is that they made the focus on the fact that he’s married and that’s why they can’t be together, NO Ian was 15 he was a grown man the age was the problem.
You gotta persist through 11 years worth of this show, it’s gonna be a long ride.
I truly truly hope they finish the series. Most channels start and give up after a few seasons. This show deserves a proper reaction for once.

This show is incredible for many unique reasons.
It does not pull punches. It isn't afraid to cover the controversial issues/the real issues in the world. It is dark, but hilarious. Sadly, most of the story lines might be realistic to a point.
It doesn't seem like this show should work, but it does.
God the kids were So Little in season 1. You'll get to watch every single one grow up, even little Liam. Such an incredible show. Please, Pleeease finish the series. Most reactors just stop watching one day. This show deserves better.
This show is insane at points, I'm so happy to see you reacting to it! Emmy Rossum alone makes it worth watching, but there's some other incredible actors in this show too. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on future episodes!

This is my favorite dysfunctional tv family! It can be really upsetting at times but is well acted and well written. Fiona is the best character.

Lip is definitely my favorite because Jeremy does such an incredible job with the emotional scenes as well as the comedy, I'm so glad he's getting recognition for his acting with his new show. got a new subscriber by starting this season! can't wait to revisit this series with you. looking back on this pilot episode I think my favorite scene is between Fiona and Ian in the living room, probably b/c ian is my favorite but it's a great moment between those two leading into Fiona's first break down followed by Debbie putting the pillow under Frank's head. can't wait to watch more!

Omg I just started shameless in the last few weeks and I’m now in season 6 and obsessed.
Shameless is one of the best shows Ive seen over the last several years. And I am including both versions in the magnificent mix. If you dont know, the show is a remake of an English series, "Shameless" which aired originally in '04, and also ran for 11 seasons. This episode you see here is a fantastic remake, almost scene by scene take of the original UK pilot episode. Lip and Ian, Karen, Fiona meeting Steve, Frank drunk on the floor, the drinking session with Kev and V, its all there, often word for word. The US's first season fantastically remade almost all the UK first seasons episodes and plots, but on a much much bigger, expensive scale, and with its own ideas and directions in there. By season 2, the US version goes totally its own way with all new ideas and plots and directions. Id love to see a fan of the US version watch and react to the original UK one.
really wish the uk one was reacted to more. Cos I'm english I saw the original first, and thought the us would be a shit remake like the inbetweeners, but fuck it was great. Both for the first 7 seasons, but both fell off. They really are opposites but are on the same level
@@nottyrese I agree that both versions went off the ball a bit in their later years, but I actually feel that the US version was still a bit more cohesive in its final two seasons, despite the gigantic ,seriously missed Fiona. There was some fun had, we got a great run with Micky/Ian, and I liked seeing Carl carry over to Law Enforcement developed and fleshed out more, rather than his couple of episodes build-up and departure in the UK.
The UKs 8th season was like 24 episodes with a host of new characters that watching them felt like they'd walked off Coronation Street, and gotten lost in the wrong show. Same with the nxt seasons.
By season 9, Frank was the only Gallagher left and was more of a cartoonish, animated sidekick to everyone else's antics. Again, there was still some good stuff in there, amidst some filler.
I like how the focus in the US never left the Gallaghers, and it was fascinating seeing them develop and grow for its duration, even if I didnt like how Lip and Debbie ended up. And I loved the US's blend of drama and the surreal. The Thanksgiving scene with Monica was harrowing, then classic Shameless absurdities followed when Shelia steals Karens baby. Genius.
So lucky I wish I can rewatch this whole series for the first time again

This is one of those shows I'd love more people to do reactions to but most people usually don't. There was a channel I watch rather often and he was doing reactions to Shameless but stopped either after season 1 or 2. He seemed like he was enjoying it but a lot of his comments were complaining because it wasn't like most of the shows he was already reacting to. I hope you enjoy it enough to go through it all the way.

The UK version was the first. Really good. 2004 it came out. I'm still enjoying the US version.

I might give it a try one time, but I'm not sure about it. I tried Life On Mars and I couldn't latch on to the cultural differences. Also, I'm from Chicago so U.S. Shameless hits very close to home. But, maybe I'll be able to get past things i don't get.
Oof there’s going to be quite a few points where you’re highly uncomfortable, moments where you cry your ass off (esp if you have childhood parental trauma and/or are the eldest sibling), and moments where you’re just speechless. This show also displays the true and ugly side of mental illness and as someone with bipolar disorder that was the eldest sibling in a poor, shitty neighborhood this his way to close to home for me. I rlly hope you enjoy the show and stick with it 🤍🤍

The first time i watched Shameless was in middle school with my English class. I have to admit it was a bit awkward.
Such a good show full of comedy and serious drama aswell. Frank is absolutely gold he makes the show even if he's a scumbag.

I personally didnt ship Fiona and Steve at all! I wasn't into it.
You gotta remember that, this is a remake of the UK series, "Shameless", which aired 10 years before the US version. Almost everything you see happen in the first season is a brilliant , bigged up rework and representation of what the original UK season 1 did. In the UK version, Ian and Kash are a couple for the first couple of seasons, as Kash is a regular in the show for the first 3 seasons. The Uk version's Micky is much older, and we dont meet him 'till the 3rd season, where he initially has a fling with Ian. But, they dont every get an actual relationship going, they stay friends. The first episode here, is almost a scene by scene remake of the UK pilot, albeit with some new, brilliant fleshed out stuff added in. Both shows are bloody fantastic and I love them both. Fun fact- the Uk's "Steve" was played by a young James McAvoy.

@@elia_simon Ah, cool. Ive talked with people who did'nt know about the Uk version, and Im such a fan of both versions that Im always interested in what peoples opinions are on both. I personally loved how the US season 1 opened up and fleshed out and added ingredients to what the UK season had. There was obviously more production, money and time into the US one and I thought it was really interesting seeing how things like Frank waking up in France, Frank faking his death, and everything to do with Ian, Lip and Karen was done in the US one on a bigger scale, area. I loved too, seeing the US one portray the family and base them on the US welfare systems, governments, unemployments, etc. The UK one was much more comical, surreal in places and thier Frank had lots of gobby drunken critiques to comically say about the UK systems and government too. Its only really the first season that the US version leans on and from, as from s2 onwards its on its own course. Love them both, and I hope ya enjoyed seeing the UK one and keep on watchin the show here! 👍👍

the original UK version of this episode was like for like the same. Over time the US version changed. the other thing is that the uk version was based on a town called wythenshawe which is the biggest council estate in europe. It was a low budget series but it was still realistic in how it portrayed council estate culture. I didn't think the US version would be realistic but they did a great job basing it on 'south side chicago', a place i know nothing about except through this series.
Sheila is fkin banter. I love Veronica and Kevin in this aswell. The side characters are a lot of fun.
