@ It causes confusion and makes patients irritated. I first learned of it when my hubs was in CCU with a brain bleed. He was mean as hell one night and the neurosurgeon explained to us that it was common in cases of brain trauma and not to take it personally. He recovered but my poor mom had it for 3 years with her dementia.

He is one that makes me smile while breaking my heart. I’m a Critical Care RN and also a manager at an Assisted Living/Nursing home. I always had those few that slid right into my heart, like King Ed! His sweet “Thank you”’s every time you tell him that you take care of him literally make me cry. I’m so glad to get to see a bit of you guys’ lives on here, but I sure wish I would have known Dr. Ed long ago, too! The world needs so many more people like him. But, we need to find help and pray to God for a cure for Dementia/Alzheimers, etc. Merry Christmas and a big hug to our sweet King Doctor Ed from North Carolina! ❤

@ Certainly was! I had worked for almost 18 years at a hospital. My health was getting bad, and at that time, I didn’t know why. So going into Long term Care was a slower pace, plus I was a manager, which allowed me to help the staff, which means I had help!
I took my older sister who has same prob. as Ed, she only eats sweets and whip cream so we went for her pancakes[all she will eat] as your last taste buds is generally for sugar, she kept asking waitress for more whip cream and finally the waitress said it's Christmas i'm gifting you your own can [she understood ] I was so moved by the act of kindness I gave her a $ 40 tip on a $20 check, I said it's Christmas and I appreciate the kindness you showed my sister, Ed is lucky to have you Dan,
I was a nurse in an extended care facility for 37 years. You and your wife are amazing with your dad. God will continue to bless you for taking care of him. Brought me to tears !!😢

His breathing is labored. I can tell he is worked up. My mom has dementia, lives in a skilled nursing facility. She is wheelchair bound. Today I remembered to tell her she was safe and that she didn’t have anything to worry about and she had plenty of money. And her family is all well. I do not tell her my daughter is pregnant anymore because she thinks that she is still five and cries when I tell her. I am learning much as time goes on and do appreciate what I am learning here on your channel. God bless you.
At first Dan, I thought this channel was created for monetary reasons, then after seeing how wealthy you are, that flew. Then I thought, it was for the recognition. Then I see the true hurt you go through, so that flew. Now after seeing this video I conclude you do it for your unselfish way of expressing your hurt, but providing so much needed information of how it actually is to live with someone who suffers dementia and what people should do. I take care of a client of mine here on the Oregon coast and he has dementia he's 88 and a great guy I've learned a lot in the past year of taking care of this gentleman ice cream ice cream really helps with the Sundowners if you give them ice cream It generally helps.

My maternal grandmother and aunt had Alzheimers disease. I’ve also nursed people with it.
