My dad worried so much if I had to leave town for my grandsons football games or if I was out at night etc. he loved me and he cherished our time together. You and Danielle are certainly doing the Lords work and whether you realize it or not your life is being so enriched. I know you get tired, but just keep holding onto the fact that he just loves you that much. My dad died in 2020 and I still can’t even go to the cemetery, he was a doctor too, and he was my hero and my confidant and my daddy.

Wow, that seems like it could be hard at times, but also a very interesting profession that clearly takes a ton of patience. I always wanted to go to school for nursing since the beginning of high school and I never ended up doing it for my own reasons but now I'm in my late 40s and I really want to go to school but I wonder if I'm too late for that. I'd love to go to school and actually work with elderly patients possibly Alzheimer patients! This particular video was almost hard to watch. Lots of emotion. Dan is such a wonderful son, just answering pop over and over no matter what the question or however many times he answered the same question. I often see Danielle isn't always as patient but I definitely could understand why. I just love Dr.Ed though and seeing him interact with his entire family❤

I work with special needs students so hopefully she got her patience from me. You have to truly love both professions to do the jobs correctly. They depend on us for everything and I enjoy caring for others. Sometimes it’s a thankless job but they minute they succeed in something it’ll almost bring happy tears to your eyes I love my students and I know my daughter cares for her patients and their families very lovingly which makes me proud. ❤

We had to stop telling her she had dr appts. She would be so fretful on how she was getting there, who would wake her up etc…. The terror their minds can conjure up is so sad.. My mom was in pretty good health other than this wicked disease. She aspirated one day and that is what took her life. She was 86. Was a nurse in WWII where she met my dad. So full of life and a social butterfly. Lost my dad 6 months later. Both in 2012. It’s so obvious the love your dad has for you and you for him, he still worries about his little boy. What an example to him ,your children, and around the world, this is how you take care of your parents! What a legacy of videos to leave to your generations to come. God bless you and your family. I think Dan, much to his credit, tries to show Ed in the best light possible. I'm pretty sure he's never shown him really angry or extremely petulant, etc. I'd need something stronger than wine if I was Danielle. Lol.

Problem is that the caretaker gets so worn down mentally and physically and the result is often that he/she gets quite sick. Dan needs to think about that and maybe consider that it's time for Dad to be in a senior home that deals with dementia-ridden patients. Hopefully he would get meds that would calm him down. Now he is very restless and energetic and that compounds the problem. If he were more docile it would be easier to deal with him. Very justifiable at this point. Or else everyone else suffers in real and serious ways.

For anyone who has never lived with someone with dementia or Alzheimer's it can become frustrating for lack of a better word repeating yourself over and over. Without the right demeanor things can get off track. I guess what im saying is just be prepared. I think Dan does an awesome job caring for Dr. Ed ✌️

I cried watching this. I remember going through this with my grandmother. You really have to be so careful what you share with someone with dementia. My mother couldn’t visit her because my mom had cancer & had lost a lot of weight & her hair from chemo. We knew that my grandmother would have a terrible time dealing with it. I’m so glad that Grandpa Ed has such a loving family & safe home to live in. Caring for a loved one with dementia is a live & learn process. Dan & Danielle are really doing such a wonderful job keeping Grandpa happy, healthy & safe. 🫶

My opinion, for what it's worth...
My Dad was like this toward the end of his life. I realized that his role as a father and caregiver was "hard wired ' into him. He was always the one who made sure everyone had what they needed, and everything was taken care of. Even when he got to about 90 and other things started happening with his cognition, the role as Dad and caregiver and solver of all family issues was still there. I think that is happening with dear Dr. Ed. My father was a very smart man; also like Dr. Ed.
Watching this episode made me believe more strongly that some things like the father and caregiver role are really deeply embedded in the brain of someone like Dr. Ed, and like my Dad.
For other commenters here, I'd just like to remind them of something from the Bible that is worthy of meditation, no matter what your religion.
That is: "Judge not others, lest you yourself be judged."
This seems to be very difficult for human beings to do, but it's worth it to at least TRY.

God bless you for having such loving patience and gentleness with your father / father-in-law Dan and Danielle. You both are adorable. Dr. Ed (paps) Is so sweet, loving and caring about his children. It gives the impression he was a very dear and adorable father. God bless him and you both (Dan / Danielle for the respectful, loving, patient care you give to him). I know, it's not easy for you, but may God continue to give you the strength and endurance to cope with the difficult situations.

You have an awesome family. I am 70 and retired 3 years ago. I worked for over 30 years with senior citizens some with dementia and some with Alzheimer’s. I applaud your patience and the love you and your wife show to your father. You and your family set a great example for others. The dignity and respect you give to your father shows the love you have for him.
