Thanks for the honest and informational CT with contrast. Unlike the person complaining, I would rather be well informed and as educated as possible! Great job!!!!!
I'm glad you said about the air in the tube. I'm having this done tomorrow and that situation is all I can think about. It's the only thing I want to ask about, to make sure it's done. I'm sure they will. Thanks
And what contrast is available for those of us who have had an anaphylactic reaction to iodine? The professor who diagnosed my allergic response said I should never be exposed to this again.
Thanks for this video. I just had one of these tests for the first time. I knew I would be getting contrast dye but I did not know what to experience until I was already on the table with the IV in. When the nurse told me what sensation (warm, sweating, like wetting pants) it was the first time I heard and it alarmed me just a bit. Then when she told me she would be putting nitroglycerin under my tongue, that also caught me off guard. Maybe some people do better not knowing in advance, but for me, I would have rather been prepared. After the procedure they let me just get up and leave, but after exiting the door I had to come back inside due to feeling faint. They brought me back to the back and let me sit for a while, gave me some water and a small snack (ad hoc from an employee) and let me rest for 15-20 minutes until my blood pressure returned to normal. In the end, I think these side effects were harmless but based on this experience, I think clinics should have a resting area and some snacks and be prepared for this sort of situation. I would not discourage anyone from having this test -- the effects were very temporary. But good to know in advance.
Thank you for sharing this information. I had this procedure yesterday (parotid gland imaging). I wish I had seen this video beforehand because I would have been prepared for that big needle, ouch! It wasn't easy. The scan itself went well.
I’m glad your test went well! And aw yeahhhhh, hopefully after watching the video it’s more understandable why a large needle is necessary. Best of luck on your results!
I have a CT scan done tomorrow. This just scared the ish out of me. Omg my anxiety is through the roof. I pray everyone is trained and I have no reaction.
Hi, I had a chest, pelvic, abdomen CT scan with contrast today. How big a deal is it that I had an underwire bra on? The radiologist/ tech didn't tell me until we were done that I should have taken it off or worn a sports bra. Is the chest portion essentially completely screwed, or is is sort of ok? Thanks.
I had a water soluble CAT scan today and something went wrong. I won’t get into how they said nothing to me when they brought me back I had these in the past wirh no problem. As they stated the contrast, I first got a bad stinging near the IV site, then it became unbearable with pain going down my arm to my hand. I was screaming now in pain. Then my hand and arm started spasming. She stopped the flow, and made me go through the machine a few times but when done I asked if it worked, and she said, it was not sharpe “because you made me stop it”! What the heck was that all about? I never had this happen in the past. I always felt the warm sensation in my gut, and once maybe a metallic taste but never pain.
@@isDZ1 Thankfully Im all good right now, doing really great actually from 46kg to 65kg and currently able to go back to the gym😁 3months ago before i got the scan i was 46kg*

Hey Vanessa, would you like to make a new video of how is the benefit part of being a NMT? Like all the benefits of working as a NMT and the pay please.
This was really informational, I got a ct scan yesterday and was wondering what the IV was for. I thought because you're getting exposed to radiation (271.986 roentgen in mine) the iodine was to help prevent radiation sickness from the scan, but it's cool that it's for contrast to show the difference.
@@randomrants1111I go in today and yes sadly the contrast does exactly as she said, you get warm and fuzzy all over and feel like you’re peeing yourself, for me I also felt sick to my stomach and felt like I had to poop and throw up all at the same time. It’s awful but that was just for me, I might decline contrast this time and tell them no thank you cuz I also felt sick after it
I've had a few CT Scans using barium drink and intravenous iodine and I know what usually feels like, the warm sensation like need to urinate which usually only is felt for less than a minute and goes away. Last month my PCP ordered one for me, instead of feeling the mild warm sensation I felt very hot burning not just in private genital region but entire inner thigh almost to knees and pelvic area, then it rushed up and my head was very hot and later I was treated at ER and doc said I had bad allergic reaction, he had CT Scan without any contrast of my brain. This was over 3 weeks ago, I was very I'll, dizziness fatigue nausea my head hurting very badly, I went to ER again and they did xray of my chest Doc said I had pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, my head still hurting. PCP did xray of my chest and told me chest cleared up. My brain feels painful inside my head. I'm 62 years old and worried about brain tissue damage, iodine went in my brain when CT Scan done weeks ago, my sinuses keep running. Thankfully I am still alive. I think I underwent incorrect dosage of iodine contrast. My brain hurts.
Your experience helped me make my decision not to do it. I'm a very sensitive person and just feel I'd be one of the ones who have a bad reaction. Thanks for sharing your story.
Hello Vanessa. I recently went to the hospital because I was concerned about an umbilical hernia. I did a CT scan, which I had done before in the past, but they had never put IV contrast with Iodine in it. They never asked, so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know it had iodine in it. The scan went well and I felt warmth. It turns out that my hernia only had fat, so no bowel obstruction. After waiting for my results the hospital staff took my vitals and noticed my heart rate was pretty high. I took this for anxiety - as I usually get very anxious whenever they are taking my blood pressure or when I'm in a hospital setting. They eventually let me go, and drove myself home, but after about 20 minutes of getting home, I noticed my apple watch was still recording a high heart rate in the 130s to 140s. I tried going outside to get fresh air and I began stepping on the grass but nothing I could do would calm me down. I felt an immense amount of fear and my heart kept climbing up to 170 until I had to take my apple watch because I was so terrified. I had no choice but to call 911 for an ambulance because I had never felt so awful in my life. my hands felt numb and I began to get a cold sweat. when the emts came, they monitored my heart, and I was taken to the hospital and I felt so awful. They told me it was just anxiety and they did ekg tests but everything turned out normal. They gave me xanax to calm me down, but I really do feel like I started to feel bad after the contrast was injected in me. I have stugged with anxiety in the past, but not to this extent. Nobody really listened to me and they just attributed it all to being anxious. I didn't ever imagine that I would be taking a trip back to the ER. I drank a lot of water when I got home, but for the past day I have been still feeling off. Going to keep on drinking water. I remember taking an iodine supplement with kelp in the past and I don't remember reacting well to it. I remember getting tingling feeling in my hands and legs back in 2013. Do you think I could have had a reaction to the CT contrast? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
I had this happen too! I just went today. Thankfully I recovered from it and didn’t have to go to the ER. They acted like this never happens but as soon as they started the iodine , I felt warm everywhere tightness in my throat I felt like I was peeing and then heart pounding and I knew I was passing out. I talked myself through it so I wouldn’t pass out and once I was in a chair and they were checking my vitals and gave me a cookie I started to recover. They said maybe it’s because I didn’t eat all day.. I knew it was the iodine.
I got released today from the hospital after a long terrifying experience. I went into anaphylactic shock from the contrast drink and almost died . I fell into the 1-2% of people who get a fatal reaction to it . Never again .
Hi tawnya pls help me with more details, are you ok now, I got CPR and back to hospital, pls help any one guys I got so scared, pls pls It was not cardic attack??
They need to find another way to do these scans without the contrast dye ,its horrible!!! I had a really bad reaction on a CT scan on my kidneys I could not breathe I felt like my heart was going to stop I was soo scared...so now I was having pain in my chest I went to a new cardiologist he did some test ultrasound, cardigram n monitor he said I had a a heart murmur..but he wants be to get a CT scan with dye to see if I had a heart attack. U mean to tell me that is the only test to find out if I had a heart attack....im like come on...I'm not doing it I will take my chance I'm too scared.
Sorry you had this experience . I’m having a cat-scan on Tuesday for abdomen/ pelvic with contrast I’m a wreck never had something like this done . 🌻🌻🌻
I had it done and started feeling weirdly like out of it, immediately let her know she stopped it left me on the side before someone came to get me I started feeling so much itchyness on my head like if I had lice all over it worse feeling ever and was still feeling weird wated for them to come maybe 15 min they came I let them know immediately and the pain I had gone to the ER for felt way worse than it did at the beginning. They told me I was allergic
Awesome video! I had a CT scan w/IV contrast in the morning. Later that day, my face became red with a burning/flushing sensation. I noticed my left eye/eyelid started to swell. Is this a normal reaction or should I be concerned? Also, is it bad to have your phone/keys/glasses/jacket/belongings in the CT room? The tech/staff told me to place my stuff on a cabinet next to the CT scanner. Since some of these items are metal, I hope this doesn't ruin my phone or increase radiation exposure. Sorry for the dumb questions, it was my first time getting a CT scan.
That's from the radiation, ct scans radiate the hell out of you with hundreds of xrays....get an mri next time that has zero radiation. Ct scans are not worth the radiation damage
Hello, the reaction is not normal. You might be allergic to the i.v. contrast agent. You should remember it and notify the medical staff each time they ask you about allergies so they make sure to be extra cautious next time you need i.v. contrast procedure.
@@micah7685 would you say 2-3 ct scans from teenage years to age 26 is ok? I never want to get one again after reading all of this :/ But I’ve had a few done The last one I had was for the abdomen and my whole body felt super hot Not just “warm” like they say
@@hw2729 Never get one again, if imaging is needed ultrasound or mri only. No matter what your bullshit Dr says. If you did not have a bad reaction and nothing was majorly affected as in your case that is good however not worth the risk in the future. CTs should only be used as a last resort in severe medical cases, never a first imaging choice. Hey Vanessa! I have my Ct scan tomorrow and i just found out a day ago that i will have to be given IV iodine and im scared. I was already scared being claustrophobic and the donut machine on top i heard that the contrast can have side effects. I always ask for kids needle because my veins r such and my doc advised me to always tell whoever in using needle on me to go for smaller ones. Here in this video you are saying a bigger syringe is used as well.

While injecting the liquid u will feels a extraordinary symptoms for 10 sec. It's can't describe. They use to inject very fastly. Think u are going to become a hulk .

Rango 007- I recently did a CT scan of the chest without contrast and it was able to show an aneurysm on the ascending aorta. Remember that the contrast MAY do harm to your kidneys.
I didn’t have any pain from the IV but the iodine made me almost pass out. They said that’s not normally what should happen so I got lucky I guess that I was the rare 1% lol .
What type of metals can not go in this machine ? I had surgery in 1983 and I have some screws and possible plate and I don’t even know what material was used
Hey Vanessa. Excellent video! 🙂 So i just wanted to know if there's any mechanical/electrical solution to automatically "prime the tubing". Could you please let me know???
I just a CT with contrast and the tech poked me 5 times until a pic nurse had to be called. Prior to that she put no alcohol on me prior to the pokes, just a warm towel. Is that normal?
MRI stands for 'Magnetic Resonance Imaging' and it uses a very strong magnetic field to align atoms in your entire body in the same direction, then a series of radio waves are sent from the machine (which happen when you hear the loud noises) and cause the atoms to move out of alignment. This movement of the atoms from aligned to misaligned happens different (faster or slower) in different parts of the body, therefore the sensors in the machine can pick these differences and create an image that allows you to see varying tissues and structures. A CT scan, on the other hand, is a 'Computerized Tomography' which uses X-ray radiation to generate several images "in slices", of your body. At the opposite end of the x-ray source, is an x-ray detector, just like with normal x-ray imaging. Except in a CT scan, there are hundreds of images being taken in a shorte period of time while the machine spins around you very fast. And the 'computerized' part of this procedure is what is responsible for detecting these images at real time and organizing them in a manner that lets you create a 3d image or 2d slices of the body. Very intelligent programming and technology. They are used for different purposes. As far as I know, prolonged exposure to MRI machines don't have any effects, but CT scans put you through a lot of x-ray radiation in just one exam, so it is avoided unless absolutely necessary. And I believe the images produced by CT scans are sharper and allow for generating 3d images (newer technology). BUT MRI scans allow for better visualization of soft tissue. I could be wrong, though.

Hi there I know this is a late comment but just saw what you said about the hot burning feeling. I had a brain CT a few months ago and it triggered a severe reaction where my blood literally raced up into my head and I suddenly got this burning, exploding pain. It was getting so bad I thought I was going to die. I had the worst head pain for three days straight afterwards and this wasnt even with contrast. I am meant to have another CT again this week and I am trying to get it stopped and changed to another type of scan. I’m so terrified of CT scans now.
When studying the course for Nuc Med, do you think an ipad or a macbook would be the better option? The new ipad and apple pencil makes taking notes on it really easy and perhaps enjoyable, with the bonus of having a camera to take photos, but using a laptop is usually customary. Would you suggest using an ipad for lectures and studying in nuclear medicine?
Hi vanessa. I had a ct scan of the head with iv contrast dye iodine. I think is called isovue 370/ 90cc . i had it done this wednesday march 23th, 2022. I felt warming sensation from my chest all the way to my brain. It went away after couple of hours same day. But on thursday afternoon until now i have mild burning sensation on my belly. I have chronic gastritis. I told them that before my procedure. What do you think it could be?
Hi Sharon! Sorry for the late response. Wondering how it went for you? Different places have different protocols, but IV contrast has come a long way nowadays. The amount of Iodine inside of contrast has drastically been decreased, reducing the risk of serious allergic reaction. Often times you may be pre-treated with Benadryl in order to help reduce that risk even further. But you should always mention your allergy to your doctor and the technologists. They will help you decide what your safest option is. ❤️
When I had my CT scan with IV contrast here in Australia, I had to lay on a bed and not move while having the IV for about an hour beforehand, then they removed it, and wheeled me into the CT scan

I have my first CT scan with contrast either tomorrow or Thursday on my left arm. I broke my arm at work on dec 21st of last year and had surgery on it dec 29th (metal plate with 10 screws, mid shaft spiral fracture) for some reason there is swelling and a big lump on one part of the incision with redness and feels warm. I do not have a fever or chills so I wonder what this could be? Blood tests came back showing inflammation issues going on. White blood cell and red blood cell were normal.
Yeah I am scared to death about this. I am not sure if I want to do it. I have a bit of an issue with my hernia potentually causing complications with bloating, stool impaction so I wanted to get a CT scan to see if any abnormalities are shown. I am not sure if it would make that much of a huge difference between contrast and no contrast But I have read some serous risks involved with iodine contrast and barium because it can contribute to renal failure, chronic and permenant abdomen damage among other things. I am also not the best candidate for something like this as i have sever anxiety with ataxia as well. I might look into alternative options if that is possible. With my hypersensitivity it would probably put me into a coma i feel.

Do they make these machines where you can stand up for a CT venogram? I think I might have a cervical spine instability that's compressing my vegus nerve and causing GI issues and causing ICP because of compressed internal jugular. but it don't think it would show up when laying down because it's posture related. Thankfully I've figured out that if I focus on standing a certain way my sinuses clear up and my tinnitus gets way better but obviously I want to figure out exactly why this is and this sort of machine would probably miss is by me needing to be prone.
My abdominal pelvic ct scan says i don't have enlarged inguinal lymph nodes but i can feel that the vertical inguinal lymph nodes are slightly enlarged and a bit tender and they are pressing against the nerve or vein and it s causing my foot to be tingly (constantly). Could CT give inaccurate result? What do i do now?
No one knows your body better than you. So if you feel there is an issue, get a second opinion. There are some limitations in what can be identified on CT. But it is also a possibility that the Radiologist who read your CT could have missed something. I always advocate for at least a second pair of eyes. Suggest this to your physician, and if you get the same answer, ask what other tests may evaluate further. Good luck, I hope that you feel better soon!

Hey Christina! That’s a difficult question to answer! The dose varies depending on what type of CT scan one has. A head CT has a smaller dose compared to an Abdomen/Pelvis CT for example. My annual dose limit (as a radiation worker) is 5,000 millirems. Meaning I should not exceed that dose in a year. One Abdomen/Pelvis CT scan is about 1,000 millirems.
Hi, Venessa. My name is Camelia. I have a question about a situation happened to my brother. They put the I V line with contrast, but it was leaking out . He felt cold in the arm. They said stop the machine....and change the whole iv Can you please, tell me if I have to be worried ? Any air bubbles ? I am not if I can explain it well, but please let me know if it was a mistake from their part. Thank you
It just means that the contrast was going into the arm under the skin and not in the IV because the IV probably slipped out of the vein. It can happen so that’s why they flush the IV line with saline to see if it flushes well. If there is a lot of resistance then the IV is not in a vein. The vein could’ve also burst while they were injecting too. You shouldn’t have to worry about any air bubbles. Usually if it happens they will put a warm compress over it and that’s about it. The body will absorb it over time
I suffered from radiation poisoning after my ct scan. I threw.up for 6 months and went through symtoms of being burned and dehydrated alive. Brutal. The scan came back negative but literally microwaved my insides. Zero disclosure forms about the risks or significant amount of radiation exsposure. Many would never get a ct scan if the medical feild was transparent about the actual risks and significant radiation exsposure.

Hi! I have two questions. Q. My father has taken Sputnik V covid booster dose today. So is it safe for him to take IV contrast injection? Q. In the diagnostic centre, he was given contrast orally after which we were asked to to back home. But upon reaching home, we got a call from the diagnostic centre and they asked us to come back because they wanted to give IV contrast injection to him? But by that time he already had lunch. So he will again go there to take IV contrast injection and get the scan done for the 2nd time. My question : When he was administered the contrast orally, is there any need to take the IV contrast injection now? Will it be safe?
Yes, Iodine is in Iodinated IV contrast and is the same as the Iodine added to foods such as salt, and is also naturally found in our bodies. Our Thyroid needs it! However, it is NOT radioactive. Radioactive Iodine is used in Nuclear Medicine. These are different substances, whereas the Iodine used in IV contrast is a stable form of Iodine. In Nuclear Medicine we use the UN-stable form of Iodine, therefore causing it to be radioactive. In other words- Chemistry says they’re different.

iodine is a halide, like chlorine or the chloride in saline. Not heavy metal. You def do not want heavy metals in you, eg mercury& lead are both all highly toxic if in the bloodstream. iodine on the other hand is needed to make thyroxine.

As I was entering the MRI chamber, the cannula for the contrast was jerked out of my arm. I was taken back out and my arm was wiped clean (of blood and contrast from what I saw). I then had the cannula re-attached and the procedure started again. Not impressed. It took 45 minutes of having to lie completely still. The headphones with the music in them, didn't help cancel out the noise. So, it was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang and some dong, dong, dong, dong, dong with pop tunes. Vanessa do you have advice for a nuc med tech who needs to get his CT / Gamma Camera competencies? I kinda backed myself in a corner cause I did nothing but stress tests for years and now its like you NEED the CT portion to stay relevant. I guess if you work in an institution that already incorporates both technologies in one camera it helps but I never did.
Unfortunately this is a tricky situation to be in. If your current facility does not offer you the ability to cross train, I would suggest seeking a CT program at a Technical college near you.
Hi Vanessa! I have a B.S. in chemistry but decided I didn't want to be a chemist, do you think that being a Nuc Med tech would be an easy transition for me? It seems like of all the medical careers this one has the most chemistry.
I have an appointment tomorrow for a nuclear stress test i know they have to put an IV but what kind of medicine they used in order for the doctors to look at my heart arteries?
@@jessicah3450 That is a good question! I’ll answer as best I can. Depending on the diagnoses CT offers different answers that MRI may not and Vice versa. Also cost wise, MRI’s are more expensive (in most cases) than a CT scan. While radiation doses from a CT scan are among the highest in diagnostic imaging, they are far within the safe/acceptable dose a person can receive. Your doctor is responsible for assessing the risks and ensuring the benefit of having the scan done outweighs the risks of the radiation dose.
I always hate getting CT scans. I know they're fast and the radioactive dye is usually done doing it's job by time 15 seconds pass, but I always have to run to the bathroom as soon as I get off the table 🤣
The iodine is not radioactive. CT scans give your medical team so much information and help with a diagnosis. It’s still so incredible how we can see inside the human body

With contrast its easier to define specific structures that wana be observed, some ppl r allergic to the contrast medium

I wish the point after putting the solutions had been more informative as the steps to fill /which buttons do what
I’m having this procedure next week (parotid gland)
I have a CT scan done tomorrow. This just scared the ish out of me. Omg my anxiety is through the roof. I pray everyone is trained and I have no reaction.

So very true! But I’m happy I took the risk because I love it too! Thank you for the support! ❤️
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO PUT THAT IN THE TITLE?! YOU MADE THE PATIENTS SCARED AND ANXIOUS AND POSTPONE THEIR CT SCAN PROCEDURE.
Ikr ? I had one no big deal.

Hey Vanessa, would you like to make a new video of how is the benefit part of being a NMT? Like all the benefits of working as a NMT and the pay please.
Thank you for the suggestion! Yes I could definitely cover that 😉
This was really informational, I got a ct scan yesterday and was wondering what the IV was for. I thought because you're getting exposed to radiation (271.986 roentgen in mine) the iodine was to help prevent radiation sickness from the scan, but it's cool that it's for contrast to show the difference.
Did you feel anything weird, from the contrast? During or after? I have to do this.
@@randomrants1111I go in today and yes sadly the contrast does exactly as she said, you get warm and fuzzy all over and feel like you’re peeing yourself, for me I also felt sick to my stomach and felt like I had to poop and throw up all at the same time. It’s awful but that was just for me, I might decline contrast this time and tell them no thank you cuz I also felt sick after it
Im allergic to iodine to the contrast so they cant use this...i usually do an mri or different contrast
I'd sue them .
Omg thats so messed up
Hope you are doing well
Your experience helped me make my decision not to do it.
Thank you!
Sounds like you worked your way into a panic attack. How are you now?
I had this happen too! I just went today. Thankfully I recovered from it and didn’t have to go to the ER. They acted like this never happens but as soon as they started the iodine , I felt warm everywhere tightness in my throat I felt like I was peeing and then heart pounding and I knew I was passing out. I talked myself through it so I wouldn’t pass out and once I was in a chair and they were checking my vitals and gave me a cookie I started to recover. They said maybe it’s because I didn’t eat all day..
I knew it was the iodine.
Same for me ..
def the contrast. doctors lie about how often side effects occur. bad side effects happen quite a lot of times,
How are you today?
I got released today from the hospital after a long terrifying experience. I went into anaphylactic shock from the contrast drink and almost died . I fell into the 1-2% of people who get a fatal reaction to it . Never again .

Today I did my CT ANGIOGRAPHY .

While injecting the liquid u will feels a extraordinary symptoms for 10 sec.

Vanessa, what is the difference between an MRI scan and CT scan?

How did it go?

Creatinine test needed prior to scan with contrast?
Is another side effect of the contrast dye that your urine is bright, fluorescent yellow ? If so, men and their partners need to be aware that ALL body fluids are similarly affected as stains can ruin your bedding and sleepwear ( sorry Too Much Information, but it' can be a real problem ).

Ive had cts every month last three years and m.r.is im so ill no answers. Tested allergic to all metels barium polladium and so much more. I am so weak and nausau bad .
Unfortunately there is no CT machine that is vertical they are all done laying flat. MRI would be better at looking at nerves

How many CTs would be too much radiation for a young patient ?
Hey Christina! That’s a difficult question to answer! The dose varies depending on what type of CT scan one has. A head CT has a smaller dose compared to an Abdomen/Pelvis CT for example. My annual dose limit (as a radiation worker) is 5,000 millirems. Meaning I should not exceed that dose in a year. One Abdomen/Pelvis CT scan is about 1,000 millirems.

Can you please, tell me if I have to be worried ? Any air bubbles ? I am not if I can explain it well, but please let me know if it was a mistake from their part. Thank you
It just means that the contrast was going into the arm under the skin and not in the IV because the IV probably slipped out of the vein. It can happen so that’s why they flush the IV line with saline to see if it flushes well. If there is a lot of resistance then the IV is not in a vein. The vein could’ve also burst while they were injecting too. You shouldn’t have to worry about any air bubbles. Usually if it happens they will put a warm compress over it and that’s about it. The body will absorb it over time

@@peachesmay4948 there are different ways to see if you have those stones. but doctors want more cash and dont care about your health. get a different test for it
Wait a second…”this allows us to leave the room so we’re not exposed” BUT they want to put that in my veins?????
I’m not doing this. No
I had this done today and they said it was timed wrong so they don’t actually know if I have a PE. also this could have killed me?? Jesus. I was lucky if they couldn’t even time it right
I had this done today. I was curious about the why, how, and what?
How did it go?
How did it go?
I have a question from you how many CT Scan are safe for a person who is senior citizen or more than 60 year old in a year
How long does abdomen scan take
Is their iodine in contrast
Radioactive iodine
@@jessicah3450 is that the same as in foods or is iodized salt different from radioactive iodine
@@Ladyvelvet32 the technologist told me it s the same but just at a much higher concentration.
@@UndeniablyMee thanks for breaking it down.
i had a abdomen pelvis ct scan 2 actual and a chest ct scan angiogram …. should i be worried abiut the radiation
CT Scan Abdomen is very dangerous, but they won't tell you the magnitude of the risk associated with the ionizing radiation
@@sammyreal12 please tell me about it, I had an abdomen ct scan done just last month and I’m 26 years old
I’m having anxiety now, I never would have done it if I had known this can affect me long-term
HI would like to ask if there's any limitation of getting CT contrast? If i had contrast yesterday, can I have another contrast CT the next day? Thank you!
...I hope you didn't have another next day....youtube chuck norris gadolinium
I just got one today & I felt nauseous 😕 after I felt the heat/warming effects
iodine is a halide, like chlorine or the chloride in saline. Not heavy metal. You def do not want heavy metals in you, eg mercury& lead are both all highly toxic if in the bloodstream. iodine on the other hand is needed to make thyroxine.
CECT WHOLE ABDOMEN is multiphase CT scan or not
Mam my family ct scan is happening and for them i also stay and after that i am feeling pain in whole body will it dangerous
Had one IV for heart blow out as I went through the CT. That stuff went everywhere.
Sorry but how is having the contrast which you stated contains “metal”, in the body safe or the “radiation” as you shared that you would be exposed to as the technologist, safe for the patient??
Its not
they aew liars. it't pretty lethal, 1 to 2 percent die from it
@@cemdegirmenci450 one in every 2,000 people develop a fatal cancer from one ct scan.. it doesn’t sound like a lot but it is
After my ct with contrast I vomited little is it Normal?
I have a mri perfusion heart scan in 2 weeks and I might cancel it as I'm really nervous about it and have shortness of breath and can't hold my breath. Also I have arrhythmia. I'm scared to be honest
Did you have it done?
@@kristymarie6065 no, I postponed it till next month, I'm feeling very uncomfortable about it. Not sure whether or not to have it done honestly!
@@thaiboxer8047 I know what you mean I’m supposed to have a ct scan done but I had surgery 37 years ago on my head and I have screws in the head and a plate and I don’t know what kind of material was used in the 80s soo in chickening out over the scan. Can they sedate you before you have it done?
@@kristymarie6065 they can do but I prefer to be in full control of what will happen idk
@@thaiboxer8047 yeah I’m the same way. They asked me and I said no and I said I was going to reschedule and now I don’t even want to do it. I’ll probably reschedule 10x before I actually do it
I need one done...because I am suffering from pppd
As I was entering the MRI chamber, the cannula for the contrast was jerked out of my arm. I was taken back out and my arm was wiped clean (of blood and contrast from what I saw). I then had the cannula re-attached and the procedure started again. Not impressed. It took 45 minutes of having to lie completely still. The headphones with the music in them, didn't help cancel out the noise. So, it was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang and some dong, dong, dong, dong, dong with pop tunes. I think a Valium would have helped. LOL!
Yup loud even with music
"Iodine in it, which is actually a heavy metal" ... I think iodine is a non-metallic liquid at room temperature?
I think she just misspoke. Iodine binds to heavy metals in the body which makes it radiopaque on images.
hey do u think u can do a video and talk about what u did for all your clinicals??
Oooo thanks for the idea! Yes I can!
You’d pick up easily with a chemistry background for sure! ❤️
@THAI FOOD Funny! I kind of disagree with the “Heavy Anatomy” part. I would say heavier in physiology.
I have an appointment tomorrow for a nuclear stress test i know they have to put an IV but what kind of medicine they used in order for the doctors to look at my heart arteries?
Dope ..I ve had these so many times re:stroke & MS lesion monitoring ..Cool to know exactly wth they are doing...😂...👍🏽
Yeah! I feel like it always helps me to see the "Behind the Scenes" Happy I could be a little helpful! :)
They can't do MRIs? That's a lot of radiation
@@UndeniablyMee Can I go pee after drink oral contrast or we have to wait for test done or it doesn’t matter
@@paramjitkaur6981 Absolutely! Voiding won’t harm anything at all. We would much rather you be comfortable during your test! ☺️
I went to the CT scan and I was having side effects headache ,sleepy and tired and my heart was bitting a little faster
Does it affect you? I have I’ve contact ct scan set got tomorrow
