Remember it well. Over 60 years ago. Where does all the Time go?! I managed to get all the Dundee teams autographs, courtesy of Alex Hamilton, God Bless him, he was a wonderful character. The Dundee team were staying at the Hydro Hotel in Crieff on the run up to the Cup Final. I’m a Rangers Fan but the very first game I saw was at East End Park, Dunfermline, (my Uncle played in Goals for them several years before), playing Dundee. One stand out memory was Gillie scoring a header. Both sides were playing great football at the time. The 1960’s were a Golden Age for Scottish Football. Great Times. If you weren’t around then you really missed something very special.
I follow the Rangers. I was at that game and plenty of others before and after. I couldn’t stop myself applauding Kenny Cameron’s goal. The footage doesn’t do it justice. The Dundee team 1960/1965 was as good as any Scottish side ever.
I was there as a 15 year old with my uncle. He was a Dundee fan and I supported Rangers. I never thought we’d get past Slater. He played a blinder in the Dundee goal.
The sheer number of spectators is amazing. How can you move? Today, Health and Safety would have a meltdown if they saw that many. Those were the days. I remember with fondness about going to Ibrox with my dad. First we would meet up with a few of his mates at his local. (I would wait outside with a bag of crisps and a can of coke). We would then head over to the underground and take it to the ground. For a young guy, to witness the sheer number of supporters was really exciting. Fans at that time would have their scarves on around their necks or tied onto their wrists. Many had pin badges attached with details of the trophies won. Heading up and over the stairs into the view of the pitch always took my breath away. Then you heard the roar when the team took to the pitch. Big Peter McCloy, Sandy Jardine, skipper John Greig and so on. The excitement was fever pitch. Those were the days…
Had the pleasure of watching Slim Jim playing for Sunderland 1965-8 He was signed by former Scottish manager Ian McColl, That left leg was so accurate ,Class act,
Would have loved to have been in a 100,000 + crowd, superb atmosphere compared to todays, manufactured atmosphere, best I got was 1980 riot final, went to Stoke City v Manchester City final 2011 and disappointed with manufactured atmosphere.
I seen many 100 000 plus game s at hampden 69 133 000 70 106 000 4 days later 136 000 same year 102 000 71 both scottish cup final s first and replay over 100 thousand 72 106 000 73 123 000
@@tonyallen1953 my uncle used to take me to the rangers games . First one was a midweek game away to Airdrie at Broomfield fifty two years ago . I used to get lifted over the turnstiles the same as every other kid that went to those games so whatever the attendances were given as then there was always more in the ground because kids weren't counted and the numbers were always reported lower because clubs were taking cash at the gates and if they gave the true figures then they would have to pay the tax on the amount. So I would imagine that reported attendances even at this game at Hampden we're even higher.
My goodness, can your warped sickening hatred not appreciate a world class footballer, possibly Scotland's greatest when you watch one. I feel sad for you.

Gee the standard was dreadful back then compared to today. So many missed chances. Our memory tells us how good that Rangers team was but it wasn’t, just poorer opposition.
Looks so slow compared to modern football. But then surfaces weren't as good in those days. The balls were heavy leather and boots probably weighted four times as much. Makes you appreciate the pace of those Lyon forwards on Thursday night.

That Cameron equaliser ! 💙🤍❤️
@@jintsfan wasn't it absolutely brilliant.
@@janoginski5557 It was better than it looks on film.
I was at that game too. Two great teams with Baxter at his best. Even big Dandy McLean was good.

The best cup final of all time is the 1970 Chelsea v Leeds. FA cup, went to a replay at villa park and Chelsea edged it.😀
The size and noise of the crowd is crazy
The players were straight into the pub after the match o doubt!
Great players
Didn’t this Dundee team beat rangers 5-1 at Ibrox 2 years before?
magnificent equaliser
Anyone one know the attendance of this game??
125,000
@@drew2324 must have been great to be at that game.
